Abstract

This study aims to describe the application of a scientific approach in science learning and analyze its influence on students' understanding and attitudes towards the material of environmental change and conservation. The scientific approach, which includes observing, asking, trying, reasoning, and communicating, is applied to increase students' active involvement and encourage deeper conceptual understanding. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with fifth-grade students in an elementary school in Makassar City as the subjects. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the application of a scientific approach can increase students' interest in learning, critical thinking skills, and concern for environmental issues. Thus, the scientific approach is proven effective in creating meaningful and contextual science learning.a.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of the surrounding environment as a contextual learning resource in natural and social sciences (IPAS) learning in elementary schools. A contextual approach is considered capable of bridging students' understanding of IPA concepts through direct experience and interaction with the surrounding environment. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with teachers and fifth-grade elementary school students as subjects. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that utilizing the surrounding environment—such as school gardens, small rivers, parks, and social facilities—can increase learning interest, active involvement, and a deeper understanding of concepts. Activities such as direct observation, exploration, and field discussions make the learning process more meaningful. Thus, utilizing the surrounding environment as a contextual learning resource is effective in supporting active, real-life, and relevant IPA learning in students' lives.

Abstract

Salah satu perusahaan galangan kapal yang berlokasi di wilayah Merak dan mulai beroperasi sejak 2017 memiliki fokus pada jasa pembangunan dan perawatan kapal laut. Sebagai industri dengan tingkat risiko tinggi, penerapan Keselamatan dan Kesehatan Kerja (K3) menjadi aspek krusial untuk menjamin keselamatan tenaga kerja serta kelangsungan operasional. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji kelayakan fasilitas dan implementasi prosedur K3 di perusahaan tersebut. Metode yang digunakan bersifat kualitatif dengan data diperoleh melalui wawancara. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa perusahaan memiliki fasilitas pendukung yang cukup lengkap, seperti bengkel, dermaga, gudang, alat berat (crane, excavator, loader), serta perlengkapan K3 seperti APAR, hydrant, jalur evakuasi, dan sirine. Prosedur keselamatan diterapkan melalui safety briefing mingguan, kewajiban penggunaan Alat Pelindung Diri (APD), serta sanksi bagi pelanggar. Namun, masih ditemukan kendala seperti rendahnya pemahaman terhadap prosedur keselamatan, belum adanya audit internal, serta sistem operasional yang masih bersifat manual.
