Abstract

The use of social media has become a significant phenomenon among college students today. Social media offers a platform to communicate, share information, and build relationships virtually. However, the impact of intensive use of social media on social interaction among students is still a matter of debate. This study aims to investigate how the use of social media affects social interaction among students. This study uses a quantitative approach by distributing questionnaires to a sample of students from various majors at several universities. The questionnaire was designed to collect data on the frequency of social media use, the types of social media used, and their social interaction patterns in daily life. Data analysis was carried out to determine the correlation between the variables of social media use and the level of social interaction among students. The results of the study showed that there was a significant correlation between the use of social media and student social interaction patterns. Students who use high-intensity social media tend to have more frequent social interactions through digital platforms compared to face-to-face interactions. However, social media use is also associated with a decrease in the ability to develop in-person interpersonal communication skills. In addition, the findings also show variations in the impact of social media use depending on the type of platform used, with visual social media such as Instagram tending to influence students' feelings and self-image more than text social media such as Twitter. The study provides a deeper understanding of how social media use affects social interaction among college students. The implications of this study highlight the need for a balanced approach to the use of social media in order to support the development of healthy and sustainable social interactions among students. Future research can further explore the psychological and social aspects of social media use to broaden our understanding of the dynamics of interpersonal relationships in this digital age.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji perspektif dakwah terhadap permasalahan anak di Lembaga Permasyarakatan Khusus Anak Kelas I Tanjung Gusta, Kota Medan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dakwah memiliki peran penting dalam rehabilitasi dan pembinaan anak-anak di lembaga permasyarakatan. Melalui pendekatan spiritual dan pendidikan agama, anak-anak mendapatkan bimbingan moral dan etika yang membantu mereka dalam proses pemulihan dan reintegrasi ke masyarakat. Rekomendasi penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan program dakwah di lembaga permasyarakatan dan melibatkan lebih banyak tokoh agama dalam proses pembinaan anak-anak.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the effectiveness of interpersonal communication in improving the quality of relationships in Islamic education guidance and counseling. Interpersonal communication, which involves direct, personal, and often reciprocal interactions, is an important mechanism for understanding students' needs, providing emotional support, and encouraging moral and spiritual growth. Using a descriptive approach and qualitative literature study methods, this research explores the principles of interpersonal communication, the dynamics of relationship development, and their application in the context of Islamic educational guidance. The research results show that effective interpersonal communication can increase mutual trust, understanding and cooperation between counselors and students. This creates a conducive learning environment and supports the holistic development of students in accordance with Islamic values. The conclusion of this research emphasizes the importance of effective communication as the basis for harmonious relationships in guidance and counseling in Islamic education. This research also provides practical insights for Islamic education counselors in optimizing their interactions to achieve better educational goals.

Abstract

Daun kelor (Moringa oleifera L.) merupakan tanaman yang kaya akan berbagai zat gizi penting seperti vitamin A, vitamin C, kalsium, zat besi, dan protein. Meskipun memiliki kandungan gizi yang sangat baik, namun pemanfaatan daun kelor di masyarakat Indonesia belum banyak dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi dan pengembangan usaha kecil menengah (UKM) dalam rangka meningkatkan perekonomian khususnya di Kecamatan Medan Denai sebagai alternatif pangan atau makanan ringan dan sebagai pendongkrak UMKM. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan memberikan pelatihan kepada ibu-ibu PKK di Kecamatan Medan Denai tentang pengolahan daun kelor menjadi produk yang mudah dikonsumsi dan bernilai gizi. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan antusiasme peserta dalam mengolah daun kelor menjadi produk yang sehat dan bergizi, seperti Mini Cookies Moringa dan Keripik Moringa. Produk tersebut dapat menjadi pilihan camilan yang lebih sehat dan bergizi dibandingkan camilan konvensional, serta dapat membantu meningkatkan asupan gizi masyarakat khususnya anak-anak, ibu hamil, dan ibu menyusui. Dengan pengemasan yang tepat dan jangkauan pemasaran yang lebih luas, produk olahan daun kelor berpotensi untuk lebih dikembangkan menjadi produk unggulan yang memiliki nilai pasar tinggi.

Abstract

Science and Social Studies (IPAS) instruction in elementary schools often tends to be monotonous and lacks the use of visual technology, which hampers active student engagement and negatively affects learning outcomes. This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 064966 Medan on the topic of Humans and Environment through the application of the Picture and Picture method combined with Canva media. The main issues identified were low student engagement and motivation, as well as limited use of engaging and creative instructional media. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted over two cycles, each comprising planning, implementation, observation, and reflection phases, with 27 students as subjects. Data were collected through observations of teacher and student activities and learning outcome tests. The results demonstrated improved instructional quality, with teacher activity scores increasing from an average of 77.17 (good category) in cycle I to 82.50 (good category) in cycle II, while student activity scores rose from 52.5 (fair category) to 85 (very good category). Learning outcomes also showed significant improvement, with mastery rising from 26% in the pre-action phase to 52% in cycle I and reaching 89% in cycle II. In conclusion, the application of the Picture and Picture method assisted by Canva media is effective in enhancing both student engagement and learning outcomes on the topic of Humans and Environment.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran komunikasi verbal dalam meningkatkan kualitas hubungan interpersonal di kelas Manajemen Dakwah-B UIN Sumatera Utara. Metode yang digunakan adalah observasi dan wawancara terhadap dosen pengampu dan mahasiswa kelas Manajemen Dakwah-B. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komunikasi verbal memainkan peran penting dalam meningkatkan kualitas hubungan interpersonal di kelas tersebut. Dosen dan mahasiswa yang saling terbuka, saling menghargai, dan menggunakan bahasa yang santun dalam berinteraksi cenderung memiliki hubungan interpersonal yang lebih baik. Hal ini berdampak positif pada suasana kelas yang kondusif, partisipasi aktif mahasiswa, dan pencapaian tujuan pembelajaran. Kesimpulannya, komunikasi verbal yang efektif dapat meningkatkan kualitas hubungan interpersonal di kelas Manajemen Dakwah-B UIN Sumatera Utara.

Abstract

Media sosial memiliki peran penting dalam proses komunikasi di era digital saat ini. Efektivitas komunikasi dalam media sosial dapat dicapai melalui faktor menentukan khalayak, pemilihan media komunikasi, pengkajian tujuan komunikasi, dan peran komunikator. Media sosial memungkinkan pengguna untuk berbagi, berinteraksi, dan membuat konten dengan mudah. Karakteristik media sosial termasuk jaringan, informasi, arsip, interaksi, simulasi sosial, dan konten oleh pengguna. Efektivitas komunikasi dilihat dari pencapaian tujuan yang direncanakan sebelumnya. Faktor seperti strategi komunikasi, menentukan khalayak, pemilihan media komunikasi, pengkajian tujuan komunikasi, dan peran komunikator berperan penting dalam efektivitas komunikasi. Mahasiswa UIN Sumatera Utara mengungkapkan bahwa komunikasi melalui media sosial menjadi pilihan efektif karena memperluas jangkauan, meningkatkan interaksi, dan memfasilitasi penyebaran informasi. Dalam berkomunikasi, perhatian pada isi pesan, pemilihan media, tujuan komunikasi, serta peran komunikator akan mempengaruhi hasil dan efektivitas komunikasi dalam media sosial.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the influence of artificial intelligence (AI) on changes in people's communication behavior. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach which includes library research, observation and document review. The research results show that artificial intelligence has a significant and complex impact on human communication behavior. The positive impacts of artificial intelligence include increasing communication efficiency with the help of chatbots and virtual assistants that speed up responses and increase user satisfaction. Additionally, artificial intelligence allows for more effective personalization of messages, which is especially useful in digital marketing. But the research also uncovers ethical and data protection issues surrounding the use of artificial intelligence, including the risks of personal data thickness and algorithmic bias, which can amplify social disempowerment. Another negative impact is the decline in people's ability to communicate and excessive dependence on technology, which can lead to bad behavior such as cyberbullying and the spread of fake news. Therefore, it is important to understand the long-term impact of AI on human interactions and determine strategies to maximize the benefits and minimize the associated risks.
