Abstract

The use of social media has become a significant phenomenon among college students today. Social media offers a platform to communicate, share information, and build relationships virtually. However, the impact of intensive use of social media on social interaction among students is still a matter of debate. This study aims to investigate how the use of social media affects social interaction among students. This study uses a quantitative approach by distributing questionnaires to a sample of students from various majors at several universities. The questionnaire was designed to collect data on the frequency of social media use, the types of social media used, and their social interaction patterns in daily life. Data analysis was carried out to determine the correlation between the variables of social media use and the level of social interaction among students. The results of the study showed that there was a significant correlation between the use of social media and student social interaction patterns. Students who use high-intensity social media tend to have more frequent social interactions through digital platforms compared to face-to-face interactions. However, social media use is also associated with a decrease in the ability to develop in-person interpersonal communication skills. In addition, the findings also show variations in the impact of social media use depending on the type of platform used, with visual social media such as Instagram tending to influence students' feelings and self-image more than text social media such as Twitter. The study provides a deeper understanding of how social media use affects social interaction among college students. The implications of this study highlight the need for a balanced approach to the use of social media in order to support the development of healthy and sustainable social interactions among students. Future research can further explore the psychological and social aspects of social media use to broaden our understanding of the dynamics of interpersonal relationships in this digital age.

Abstract

Kepemimpinan transformasional dipandang sebagai faktor kunci dalam mempengaruhi kinerja guru, karena kepala sekolah berperan penting dalam mengarahkan, menginspirasi, dan membimbing guru untuk mencapai tujuan pendidikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi hubungan antara kepemimpinan transformasional kepala sekolah dan kinerja guru di Madrasah Tsanawiyah di Kabupaten Lombok Barat. Metode penelitian yang digunakan melibatkan analisis regresi berganda dan uji hipotesis untuk menentukan keberadaan dan signifikansi hubungan antara variabel independen (kepemimpinan transformasional) dan variabel dependen (kinerja guru). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan positif dan signifikan antara kepemimpinan transformasional kepala sekolah dan kinerja guru di Madrasah Tsanawiyah di Kabupaten Lombok Barat. Nilai koefisien korelasi antara variabel kepemimpinan transformasional (X1) dan kinerja guru (Y) sebesar 3.190, yang secara statistik signifikan karena melebihi nilai t-tabel (1.66) pada tingkat signifikansi 0.05. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa semakin tinggi kontribusi kepemimpinan transformasional, semakin tinggi pula kinerja guru di madrasah tersebut.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of the Structural Analysis Method on students' understanding of the poetry Wasiat Renungan Masa by Maulana Syaikh, addressing a critical gap in effective teaching methods for poetry in secondary education, where students often struggle to grasp the deeper meanings of literary works. The research was conducted with 54 students in class XI Science (IPA) and class XI Social Science (IPS) at MA NW Ar-Rahmaniyah Senyiur, using a quasi-experimental design with a Nonequivalent Control Group to ensure reliable comparisons. The experimental group was taught using the Structural Analysis Method, which focuses on dissecting the structural elements of the poem, while the control group received conventional instruction without emphasis on such analysis. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests designed to measure students' understanding of key poetic elements. The collected data were analyzed using parametric statistics, including t-tests, to compare the groups' performance in a statistically rigorous manner. The results show a significant improvement in poetry comprehension for the experimental group, with an average gain score of 19.5, compared to 9.0 in the control group. Statistical analysis using a t-test confirms a significant difference (t-value = 11.54, p < 0.001) between the two groups. The study concludes that the method is highly effective in enhancing poetry understanding and suggests broader applications in literature education, particularly in improving students' ability to analyze and interpret complex texts more effectively.

Abstract

The problem in this school action research is that the competence of teachers at SMP Negeri 4 Jerowaru, East Lombok Regency, in compiling teaching materials for the independent curriculum is still very low. The purpose of this study was to improve the competence of teachers of SMP Negeri 4 Jerowaru, East Lombok Regency in preparing teaching materials for the independent curriculum in the first semester of the 2022/2023 academic year through academic supervision. The research was conducted from September 2022 to January 2023. The subjects in this study were 12 class VII subject teachers at SMP Negeri 4 Jerowaru, East Lombok Regency. This school action research is a qualitative research, which was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of the stages of planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. Data analysis used a qualitative descriptive analysis technique by comparing the results of the initial conditions with the results of the first cycle and the results of the second cycle, which were obtained through collaborative academic supervision with colleagues with individual supervision techniques, which included supervision of teaching materials (documentation study) and academic supervision of class visits (observation). The results of the action (supervision) of cycle I, the level of teacher competency in compiling independent curriculum teaching tools is still relatively low, so it is necessary to carry out supervision again in cycle II.The results showed that there was an increase in the ability of class VII teachers at SMP Negeri 4 Jerowaru in making lesson plans significantly in the pre-cycle, cycle I and cycle II, namely an increase in the average percentage of the five aspects supervised, as follows: the number of teachers who collected all the tools teaching materials from 16.67% (pre cycle), 64.81% (cycle I) to 90.74% (cycle II), the overall quality of teaching materials from 12.25% (pre cycle), 52.78% (cycle I ) to 79.28% (cycle II), the quality of the flow of learning objectives (ATP) from 7.51 (pre-cycle), 47.71% (cycle I) to 78.97% (cycle II), the quality of teaching modules (RPP ) from 13.00% (pre-cycle) 48.96% (cycle I) to 78.12% (cycle II), and the suitability of learning planning with the implementation of the learning process becomes from 25.00 (pre-cycle), 83.33% (cycle I) to 100% (cycle 2). With a predicate of success from a less predicate or ≤70% in the pre-cycle and cycle I, it becomes an adequate predicate or is in the range of values of 71 – 80% in cycle II. Based on the background, problem formulation, and research results, the authors conclude that academic supervision can improve the competence of class VII teachers at SMP Negeri 4 Jerowaru in preparing teaching materials for the independent curriculum in semester I of the 2022/2023 academic year.

Abstract

The advancement of artificial intelligence technology, particularly deep learning, has opened new opportunities in education to create more meaningful learning experiences. This study aims to analyze how the deep learning approach can be applied in the learning process to enhance student engagement, comprehension, and learning outcomes. The research method used is qualitative with a library research or literature study approach. Data were obtained from various academic sources, including scientific journals, books, research reports, and relevant publications from the last five years. The findings indicate that the implementation of deep learning in education can improve the personalization of learning materials, provide adaptive feedback, and enrich learning experiences through AI-based systems such as chatbots, learning analytics, and gamification-based learning. Additionally, this technology enables more interactive learning by adapting curricula based on individual needs and learning styles. However, challenges in implementing deep learning in education still include access to technology, teacher readiness, and policies that support digital transformation in the education system. This study contributes to the literature on the application of deep learning in education and provides recommendations for educators, policymakers, and technology developers to optimize the use of artificial intelligence in creating more effective and meaningful learning experiences.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of phubbing behavior on the associative social interaction of students in the Tadris Social Science-Economics program at UIN Mataram and to identify the underlying causes of such behavior. Using a qualitative approach with field research methods, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that phubbing behavior is triggered by social media use, online gaming, situational factors, and social influence. Characteristics of phubbing behavior include excessive smartphone use, anxiety when not using a smartphone, frequent screen-checking, and a preference for digital communication. The impact of phubbing on students’ associative social interaction includes feelings of being unappreciated, weakened friendships, reduced communication quality, and decreased cooperation. These results highlight that phubbing poses a significant challenge to fostering healthy social relationships in academic settings, emphasizing the need for digital awareness and strategies to strengthen face-to-face social interaction.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the use of learning media in enhancing student motivation in the subject of Social Studies Geography at MA Darul Ijtimak Lombok Tengah for the academic year 2020/2021. The data collection methods used were observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique employed was qualitative analysis. The findings indicate that the use of learning media, especially maps, can enhance student motivation. The application of map media in Social Studies Geography lessons makes students more enthusiastic and prevents them from becoming bored or uninterested, thus making the teaching and learning process more engaging and effective.

Abstract

This study explores the attitudes of farmer parents in Lendang Nangka Village toward sustaining their children’s education during the 2022/2023 academic year. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with observation, interviews, and documentation, the research found varied parental perspectives. Many parents, despite economic hardships, strongly supported higher education for their children, driven by awareness of its importance, community influence, and religious values. Conversely, some regarded education merely as a formality. The study identified several supporting factors, including parental awareness, social encouragement, and spiritual motivation. Meanwhile, economic constraints, limited school facilities, and low student motivation were noted as major obstacles. Overall, the findings highlight that the majority of farming parents hold positive attitudes toward ensuring the continuation of their children’s education, reflecting resilience and commitment despite socioeconomic limitations.

Abstract

This study explores the challenges faced by parents in Bejelo Hamlet, Jonggat District, Central Lombok, in sending their children to higher education during the 2022/2023 academic year. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews with parents, students, teachers, and community leaders, alongside documentation from schools and relevant institutions. Data analysis followed an interactive process involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results reveal three primary issues: (1) economic constraints, as most parents are farmers with limited income; (2) motivational factors, where some children lack the drive to continue their studies and prefer work; and (3) informational barriers, with parents having limited knowledge of higher education and scholarship opportunities. The study concludes that significant structural and cultural barriers remain in pursuing higher education. A collaborative effort among schools, local governments, communities, and families is essential to foster a more supportive educational environment. Recommendations include need-based scholarships, increased awareness of higher education, and career guidance at the secondary school level.

Abstract

Artikel jurnal ini membahas tentang pentingnya pelatihan kepemimpinan bagi para kepala sekolah dalam menghadapi era Kurikulum Merdeka. Kurikulum Merdeka menekankan pada pendekatan pendidikan yang lebih kontekstual dan berorientasi pada pembelajaran berbasis kompetensi. Oleh karena itu, kepala sekolah perlu dilengkapi dengan keterampilan kepemimpinan yang memadai untuk efektif mengelola perubahan dan menjamin suksesnya implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka. Penelitian ini berfokus pada kajian pengembangan profesional kepala sekolah melalui pelatihan kepemimpinan yang disesuaikan dengan tuntutan Kurikulum Merdeka. Metode penelitian melibatkan analisis kebutuhan pelatihan, perancangan program pelatihan yang berfokus pada aspek-aspek kunci kepemimpinan, dan evaluasi dampak pelatihan terhadap peningkatan kinerja kepala sekolah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan kepemimpinan berbasis Kurikulum Merdeka mampu meningkatkan keterampilan kepemimpinan dan pemahaman kepala sekolah terhadap pendekatan pendidikan baru. Artikel ini juga membahas tantangan dan peluang dalam implementasi pelatihan kepemimpinan di tengah perubahan kurikulum. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi pada pemahaman praktis tentang kebutuhan pelatihan kepemimpinan untuk kepala sekolah dalam menghadapi dinamika perubahan kurikulum. Implikasinya tidak hanya berlaku pada tingkat kepala sekolah, tetapi juga berdampak pada peningkatan kualitas pendidikan di sekolah-sekolah yang menerapkan Kurikulum Merdeka.
