Abstract

This study was motivated by the need to examine the psychological distress experienced by cancer patients, and to understand how the illness affects different aspects of their daily lives—particularly emotional, social, and cognitive domains. It aims to highlight the role of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in alleviating symptoms of depression and promoting mental well-being, while also emphasizing the importance of sustained psychological support for this vulnerable group. The study further seeks to demonstrate the effectiveness of ACT in enhancing psychological flexibility—a crucial factor in helping patients adapt to the ongoing challenges of illness—and to underscore the significance of integrated psychological interventions involving collaboration between medical and mental health professionals. To achieve these objectives, the study presents a critical review and analysis of prior research on acceptance- and mindfulness-based interventions, focusing on key theoretical concepts, outcomes, and implications for practice. The findings suggest that ACT-based programs contribute significantly to improving psychological flexibility, which, in turn, supports better emotional regulation, coping skills, and overall quality of life. Moreover, the integration of psychological therapy into cancer treatment protocols contributes to providing comprehensive support for patients and enables medical teams to effectively address the psychological and social challenges associated with the cancer experience.

Abstract

This study examines the evolution of mosque architecture within Islamic civilization by analyzing its structural components, functional roles, and symbolic significance. It highlights the mosque not only as a sacred space for worship but also as a central institution in the social and urban fabric of Islamic society. Despite undergoing architectural transformations across centuries, the mosque has retained its spiritual essence and distinctive identity. Through a descriptive and comparative approach, the study investigates defining architectural elements, including domes, minarets, miḥrābs, minbars, and ornamental motifs using selected examples from the Islamic East, the Maghrib, and al-Andalus. Central to the inquiry is how mosque architecture has maintained its foundation in Islamic religious principles while engaging with diverse cultural and artistic traditions. The findings suggest that mosque architecture embodies a dynamic and adaptive tradition: deeply rooted in Islamic values yet responsive to historical change and regional context. This reflects the broader character of Islamic civilization, open to external influences without relinquishing its unique identity.

Abstract

This study examines the renewal of religious discourse in the contemporary Islamic context through a critical and synthetic perspective, employing a descriptive–analytical and comparative methodology that goes beyond mere exposition to include evaluation and the formulation of a constructive framework. The research shows that renewal does not entail a break with tradition but rather an epistemological and institutional process that reactivates ijtihād in light of the maqāṣid (objectives) of the sharīʿa, addressing civilizational and digital challenges without compromising revealed principles. The analysis identifies three interrelated axes: the scientific and ijtihād-based dimension, oriented toward institutional ijtihād in areas such as environmental ethics, artificial intelligence, and bioethics; the media and communicative dimension, which combines theological competence with digital literacy through governance and verification policies; and the educational and social dimension, which promotes critical thinking and media awareness. Overall, authentic renewal emerges as a critical and constructive act that harmonizes knowledge, ijtihād, and responsible communication, reaffirming Islam’s role as a force for justice, knowledge, and dignity in the contemporary world.
