Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of Collective Reflection-Based Argumentation Mapping (CR-AM) in enhancing argumentative speaking skills among primary school students. Conducted with 20 sixth-grade students at Anuban Ob-Om School in Southern Thailand, the research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach over two cycles, with data collected through pre-tests, post-tests, and observations. The assessments of students' speaking skills, conducted by pre-test and post-test evaluations, demonstrated a substantial enhancement in average speaking scores, rising from 52.75 to 70.25, with all students achieving the minimum mastery criterion. Observational data revealed elevated levels of student involvement and participation during collective reflection activities, underscoring the advantages of collaborative learning. The findings show that CR-AM effectively fosters essential language skills, preparing students for meaningful communication and critical thinking.

Abstract

Infusing outcome-based components such as advanced communication, productivity and accountability, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and flexibility and adaptability are deemed critical in a textbook. Conversely, the evidence revealed shortcomings in certain aspects of textbooks, as exemplified by the "Bahasa Inggris Kelas XII" textbook, which was deficient in advanced teamwork and communication skills. This research endeavor seeks to assess how the textbook incorporates outcome-based education. Utilizing data on the text unit order, the current study employed a descriptive qualitative research framework and acquired data through a Likert scale. The findings disclose that various aspects of outcome-based education are thoroughly addressed in this textbook. Nonetheless, the collaborative component and the intricate communication aspect are conspicuously absent as denoted in chapter 3 and chapter 4. A mere forty-seven percent of the content in the textbook "Bahasa Inggris Grade XII" has been assessed and meets the criteria of outcome-based education. This level of attainment, which falls below expectations, indicates a lack of complete adherence to the principles of outcomes-based education within the English textbook. As this ongoing research carries significant implications for those involved in developing and writing curricula. It is recommended that the textbook aligns with Spady's concept of Outcome-Based Education (OBE), addressing gaps such as the lack of emphasis on teamwork and complex communication aspects. To enhance the achievement of educational objectives, authors are advised to pinpoint areas for enhancement through collaboration with educators, students, and curriculum experts.

Abstract

E-learning, or electronic learning, is a form of online education exclusively accessible via the internet. With internet connectivity, users can access e-learning materials from any location and at any time. Post-pandemic, e-learning has emerged as a favored mode of remote education, offering flexibility and accessibility to learners worldwide. Since the onset of Covid-19, e-learning has surged in popularity, becoming a preferred platform for educational endeavors. In qualitative research, questionnaires and interviews serve as primary data collection methods. Conducting interviews with individuals connected to the research topic is essential for gathering qualitative data effectively. The aim of this study is to identify the most widely used e-learning resources among students. The study's findings reveal a preference for video content among students utilizing e-learning platforms. Out of the 24 respondents surveyed, 14 (58.3%) reported choosing video-based learning as their preferred method, citing its effectiveness in facilitating comprehension. Utilizing video content in e-learning enhances students' understanding of the material, as indicated by the study's outcomes. To optimize the efficacy of e-learning video content, regular updates are crucial to sustain student engagement and ensure the content remains relevant and compelling.

Abstract

Purpose: This study explores the role of DOLA AI–mediated speaking practice in reducing speaking anxiety and improving oral proficiency among Grade XII English as a Foreign Language learners in Thailand. Speaking anxiety is a major barrier that affects fluency, confidence, and willingness to communicate in classroom settings. Research Methodology: This study used a descriptive qualitative design. Grade 12 students with high levels of speaking anxiety were purposively selected. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and AI interaction logs. Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña’s interactive model was applied for data analysis, including reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. Results: AI-mediated speaking practice significantly reduced anxiety-related behaviors, such as hesitation and avoidance. Learners spoke more, participated voluntarily, and showed increased confidence in pronunciation. Interviews revealed that students experienced reduced fear of negative evaluation and felt more emotionally comfortable with DOLA AI than with traditional classroom activities. Conclusions: DOLA AI acts as an affective-supportive partner that reduces learners’ affective filters and builds communicative confidence in EFL speaking practice. Limitations: The study had a small sample size from a limited context, affecting its generalizability. The short observation period did not capture long-term language development, and AI interaction logs may not fully reflect learners’ emotional states or classroom dynamics. Contributions: This study provides evidence of the affective benefits of AI-assisted speaking practice, particularly in Southeast Asian EFL contexts, and offers insights for integrating AI into anxiety-sensitive language learning environments.
