Abstract

This study investigates English language proficiency by examining various assessment strategies, outlining their respective advantages and limitations. It concentrates on established evaluation methods to assess their effectiveness in tracking student progress and informing instructional adjustments. Formative assessments are analyzed to gauge language skills across diverse student populations. Formative assessments, such as classroom observation, interactive discussions, quizzes, and short tests, offer real-time feedback and support adaptive teaching. In contrast, summative assessments, including final exams and comprehensive projects, assess cumulative learning outcomes after instructional periods. The study reveals that formative assessments help educators identify learning gaps and implement targeted interventions. Furthermore, the use of alternative evaluation tools like portfolios, peer assessments, and self-evaluation promotes active engagement and critical reflection among learners. By introducing non-traditional assessment practices, this research highlights the value of student-centered approaches that enhance learner involvement and position students as active contributors to their language development. The adoption of varied assessment techniques ultimately supports a more flexible, responsive, and participatory educational environment.

Abstract

In the era of globalization and rapid international trade, business correspondence has emerged as a crucial tool for effective cross-cultural communication and professional success. This study aims to examine the role of English business correspondence in international business management, focusing on its linguistic features, communication strategies, and the challenges faced by non-native speakers. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method supported by content analysis of real-life business letters, emails, and memos collected from multinational companies. In addition, interviews with professionals and language instructors were conducted to identify the key skills required for writing effective business correspondence. The analysis reveals that clarity, conciseness, and formal tone are vital elements that define successful business writing. Moreover, intercultural awareness and pragmatic competence significantly impact the tone and appropriateness of communication in diverse business environments. Findings also indicate that learners of English for Business Purposes (EBP) often struggle with vocabulary selection, cultural politeness norms, and organizational structure in written messages. The study concludes that mastering English business correspondence requires a combination of language proficiency, cultural sensitivity, and real-world practice. It recommends incorporating authentic business writing samples into teaching materials, developing learner awareness of formal language structures, and providing consistent feedback. These findings are particularly useful for English educators, corporate trainers, and international business professionals aiming to enhance communication competence.

Abstract

The piece of writing aims to contemplate the possibility of a scenario where codes of ethics are unnecessary or unsuitably used. The potential benefits of codes of ethics are well recognized, and there is much research available on this topic. There is a significant amount of literature available on the factors that influence the acceptance of ethical norms. There is a much less number of publications discussing the ineffectiveness of ethical norms within a specific framework of reality. Insufficient attention is given to the adverse effects that arise from the incomplete use of codes of ethics. The study findings demonstrate the circumstances in which a code of ethics may be ineffective and lacking in actual impact. The study highlights how certain components of a code of ethics might result in harmful outcomes when they are embraced and put into practice.
