Meanwhile, wayang characters that resonate the Javanese people are Punakawan. The cultural and religious transformation brought by the lakon can be seen in the meaning and naming of Punakawan. In addition, the displayed role contains an elegant religious message wrapped in culture. Employing qualitative research using the analysis method, steps taken done to write the paper are; first, observing the theological and social revolution of the Javanese society, which is animist, dynamic, and paganist towards monotheistic mysticism. The second is the shift phenomena of Javanese Hindu ideology towards the Islamization of Java through an egalitarian concept of Islam. The third is the interpretation of young people’s anxiety through the distinctive voices of criticism. The result of this research is the disclosure of written descriptions of the characteristics of the practice of Javanese society through the process of cultural and religious transformation in the interpersonal play of Punakawan.

Abstract

This article examines the concept of God's personality based on the perspectives of the Mu'tazilah and Asy'ariah, two Islamic theological schools with different approaches. The Mu'tazilah adopts a moderate framework grounded in rationalism, while the Asy'ariah employs a traditional classical framework emphasizing the theological intellectualism of Ahlussunnah wal Jama'ah. This study uses a literature review method with a historical textual approach to analyze the ideas of these two schools. The results show that the concept of God's personality, according to the Mu'tazilah, is formulated through the relationship between the Essence (Ijabiyah) and the inseparable attributes of God. Attributes such as Iradah (Will), Sama' (Hearing), Basr (Sight), and Kalam (Speech) are considered inherent to God's Essence. In contrast, the Asy'ariah does not separate God's attributes from His Essence, emphasizing that God does not consist of internal or external elements. Both schools share a common starting point in maintaining rationalism in monotheism, yet differ in their approaches to God's attributes. This article also highlights how both schools strive to distinguish God from the characteristics of created beings while maintaining a rational approach. This research contributes to academic discourse by enriching Islamic theological studies, particularly in understanding the role of rationalism in monotheism. It also provides an alternative perspective for rational theological understanding. Further research is recommended to explore the relevance of these concepts in contemporary theological discussions, including their connections to philosophy and interdisciplinary Islamic studies.

Abstract

Classic job design theory has evolved over a long period. It focuses on employees' ability to autonomously modify their job characteristics; however, tools for assessing the dimensions of job crafting remain limited. The goal of this study is to determine how job engagement, job crafting, and meaningfulness of work are related. The partial least squares (PLS) 3.0 analysis tool was used in the path analysis. Data were obtained through an online questionnaire using the Job Crafting Questionnaire, the Dutch Utrecht Work Engagement Scale, and the MLQ Questionnaire. The purposive sampling technique was used to identify 204 respondents working in private and public companies. The results demonstrate that in Indonesia and India, task crafting, and cognitive crafting have a positive and significant relationship with the meaningfulness of work. In turn, this mediates the influence of relational crafting on job engagement for Indonesian subjects (β= 0.111, sig= .019) but not for Indian ones (β = 0.054, sig = .455). It is hoped that the study will contribute to the implementation of programs for human resource development related to job crafting design to improve performance effectiveness.
