Abstract

This tool is widely used because it has advantages in terms of economy, ease of operation, and relatively low maintenance and handling costs compared to other fishing gear. Oenggae Village is located in Pantai Baru Sub-district, Rote Ndao Regency, and is one of 14 villages and 1 sub-district in the sub-district. The majority of the villagers are fishermen, and in their fishing activities, they still rely heavily on traditional fishing gear, including the basic Rawai. This study aims to determine the composition of fish species caught using Rawai Dasar. Data collection was conducted through observation, interview, and documentation of five fishing boats using Rawai Dasar fishing gear in the period July to August 2024. The results showed that each vessel had different catches. Vessel 1 recorded the highest catch of Sand Pond fish weighing 34.9 kg (55.31%) and the lowest Grouper fish caught 0.8 kg (1.27%). Vessel 2 was dominated by tiger grouper 18.9 kg (31.98%) and the lowest grouper 1.2 kg (2.03%). Vessel 3 had the highest Kwe fish at 18.4 kg (21.45%) and the lowest red pond fish at 1.2 kg (0.14%). Vessel 4 had the highest snapper of 37.3 kg (27.82%) and the lowest scissor grouper of 0.6 kg (0.43%). Vessel 5 had the highest Kurisi fish at 30.82 kg (31.45%) and the lowest spotted grouper at 0.36 kg (0.37%). Keywords: Oenggae Village, Longline Fishing, Fish Species Composition

Abstract

Kera Island belongs to the small islands of the East Nusa Tenggara with the potential conservation of coral reefs and various associated megabenthos organisms. This research aims to a) determine the diversity and density of megabenthos in coral reef ecosystems in Kera Island Waters, b) investigate the grouping between variables from environmental characteristics of megabenthos in coral reef ecosystems in Kera Island Waters, and c) observe the relationship between the diversity and density of megabenthos with the percentage of coral cover in Kera Island Waters. The research method used was a survey with direct measurements in the field. Megabenthos data was taken using the Benthos Belt Transect technique, while the coral cover was taken using the Underwater Photo Transect technique and analyzed using CPCe 4.1 software. The research data were then analyzed for density and percentage of megabenthos, diversity index value, (H’) Shannon, coral cover, organic matter, carbonate content, principal component analysis, and correlation. The study's results regarding the diversity index value of megabenthos in Kera Island Waters ranged from 0.796 to 1.631. The similarity of environmental parameters makes two main components. The first includes current velocity, organic content, dissolved oxygen, and depth; the second are carbonate content, TDS, temperature, and salinity characterize the second main component. The average organic matter was 8.32%, while the carbonate content was 50.09%. The coral reefs and megabenthos density had a robust relationship, with a correlation coefficient of 0.93.

Abstract

Kata Kunci : Alat Tangkap, CCRF, Tingkat Keramahan Abstrak - Environmentally friendly fishing should have a high selectivity of fishing gear to get the main catch, of course this will affect the sustainability of fish populations in the waters of Sakubatun Village. This study aims to determine the friendliness of longline fishing gear based on 9 CCRF criteria set by FAO (1995) for environmentally friendly fishing gear. The sample was determined based on the census method with 34 respondents selected. Data collection techniques were collected using observation, interviews and documentation on 34 randomly selected samples in the July-August 2024 period. Determination of the final score of fishing gear friendliness using qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis. The friendliness of handline fishing gear was assessed through scoring on 9 CCRF criteria with a total of 34 people. Based on interviews with 34 people, namely fishermen using longline fishing gear in Sakubatun Village, an environmental friendliness score of 31.35 was obtained. These results indicate that handline fishing gear is included in the category of fishing gear that is very environmentally friendly. Keywords : Fishing Gear, CCRF, Level of Friendliness
