Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of individual characteristics, business characteristics, credit characteristics, and religious awareness on borrowers' loan repayment ability at PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. Branch Office Palopo, particularly BRI Unit Bua. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was employed. The study involved 60 borrowers selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires, observations, and documentation and analyzed using binary logistic regression with IBM SPSS Statistics version 32. The results indicate that business turnover, business experience, loan repayment period, and religious awareness significantly affect borrowers' loan repayment ability. Meanwhile, the number of dependents, educational level, and loan amount have no significant effect. Business experience is the most dominant factor influencing loan repayment ability. In addition, religious awareness positively affects borrowers' ability to fulfill their financial obligations. These findings are expected to provide useful insights for banks in improving credit assessment and credit risk management for MSME financing

Abstract

IntroductionPrice fluctuations in strategic food commodities can influence inflation, household purchasing power, producer income, and regional economic growth. In Palopo City, cayenne pepper and shallots are widely consumed and traded, making their price movements important for local economic stability. However, city-level studies that integrate commodity price volatility, inflation transmission, regional growth, and Islamic economic insights remain limited.ObjectivesThis study analyzes fluctuations in cayenne pepper and shallot prices, examines their relationship with inflation and economic growth in Palopo City, and identifies relevant stabilization measures. It also interprets the findings through Islamic economic principles, including public welfare, wealth protection, fair market governance, and the prevention of hoarding.MethodThe study employed a quantitative explanatory design using annual secondary data for 2021–2025. The variables included average cayenne pepper prices, shallot prices, inflation, and regional economic growth measured through Gross Regional Domestic Product growth. Descriptive trend analysis was combined with multiple linear regression to assess the simultaneous relationship between commodity prices, inflation, and economic growth.ResultsCayenne pepper prices showed an overall upward trend and reached their highest level in 2025, while shallot prices declined sharply in 2023 before recovering. Inflation peaked in 2022 and increased moderately again in 2025. Cayenne pepper prices appeared more closely associated with short-term inflationary movements than shallot prices. The regression analysis indicated that cayenne pepper prices, shallot prices, and inflation were jointly associated with regional economic growth. The findings also showed that production conditions, weather, input availability, distribution constraints, seasonal demand, and policy responses shaped commodity price movements.ImplicationsRegional price stabilization should combine improved production planning, shorter distribution chains, stronger logistics and storage, market operations, digital price information, and coordinated action among farmers, traders, distributors, and government agencies. Islamic economic principles support such intervention when it protects consumers and producers without eliminating legitimate market incentives.Originality/NoveltyThis study contributes city-level evidence by integrating commodity-specific price fluctuations, inflation, regional economic growth, and Islamic economic perspectives within the post-pandemic context of Palopo City.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of murabahah financing, Islamic service ethics, and service accessibility on customer commitment at Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) Palopo Branch Office. This study was conducted as an effort to fill the gap in previous research which generally focused more on the aspects of customer satisfaction and loyalty, while customer commitment as a form of long-term relationship is still relatively rarely studied in depth. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. The population in this study is all active customers of BSI Palopo Branch Office which is 23,818 customers. The sample was determined using the Slovin formula so that as many as 100 respondents were obtained by purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire, then analyzed using multiple linear regression, classical assumption test, t test, F test, and determination coefficient with the help of SPSS software. The results of the study show that partially murabahah financing has a positive and significant influence on customer commitment. Meanwhile, Islamic service ethics and service accessibility did not have a significant impact, although both showed a positive relationship direction. Simultaneously, these three variables have been proven to have a significant effect on customer commitment. The value of the determination coefficient shows that the research model is able to explain some of the variations in customer commitment. This study has limitations because it was only conducted at one research site with a relatively limited number of respondents, so generalization of results needs to be done carefully. Therefore, further research is recommended to expand the coverage of the region and add other variables in order to obtain more comprehensive results. This research makes a new contribution by integrating murabahah financing, Islamic service ethics, and service accessibility in explaining customer commitment in the context of Islamic banking at the local level.
