Abstract

Stunting is a serious issue that affects early childhood development and demands educators' attention in providing appropriate preventive education. Ironically, the limited availability of effective educational media for stunting prevention hinders the learning process. This study aims to develop and evaluate the feasibility of an educational video based on movement and song activities as a preventive effort against stunting in early childhood. This research employed a research and development (R&D) design involving 28 children as subjects. Data were collected through observation and structured interviews, and analyzed using qualitative descriptive methods. The findings indicate that the developed educational video effectively conveys health messages in an engaging and child-friendly manner. The content covers healthy living habits, nutritious food consumption, and regular sleep patterns, all demonstrated through songs and movements. Both children and teachers showed high enthusiasm after using the media consistently for two weeks. The study concludes that movement and song based educational videos are appropriate as a medium for stunting prevention education in early childhood. The implications of this study highlight the importance of developing creative, enjoyable, and behavior-oriented learning media to foster healthy habits from an early age. Further development is recommended to ensure the sustainability and broader applicability of this media in various educational contexts.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of colored corrugated paper (kokoru) media on the creative abilities of group B children at KB Aisyiyah 5 Baturaja. The type of research used was pre-experiment with a one-shot case study design. The sampling technique used purposive sampling, namely class B with a total of 20 children consisting of 12 boys and 8 girls. The data collection technique used will then be analyzed using a one-sample t-test. The results obtained were t-value of 5.74 with a significance of 0.05 and the degrees of freedom were 19 so that a t-table of 1.729 was obtained. So the t-value of 5.74 is greater than t-table of 1.729. So it can be concluded that there is an influence of Color Corrugated Paper (Kokoru) Media on the Creativity Abilities of Group B Children at KB Aisyiyah 5 Baturaja.

Abstract

Early childhood independence is a fundamental aspect shaped through the interaction between home and school environments. However, previous studies have focused more on urban contexts and emphasized the role of one party, either parents or teachers, without examining their synergy in a rural community setting. This study aims to describe the roles of parents and teachers in developing the independence of children aged 5-6 years in Talang Benih Village, Curup District, a rural area with distinct socio-cultural characteristics. A descriptive qualitative approach was applied, with data collection techniques including participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The research subjects involved parents, teachers, and children aged 5-6 years selected purposively. The results reveal that children's independence develops through three main roles performed synergistically by parents and teachers: as guides, motivators, and facilitators. Parents tend to use emotional and contextual approaches at home, while teachers emphasize structure, procedure, and social reinforcement at school. This synergy creates a consistent and supportive environment for children to internalize the values of independence. The study concludes that close collaboration between parents and teachers, albeit with different approaches, is key to effectively fostering early childhood independence in a rural environment. These findings provide an important contribution to the development of contextual and culturally-based early childhood education models.
