Abstract

This study aims to describe students' metacognitive abilities in solving Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM) questions in terms of emotional intelligence and learning styles. This research is a descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The research instruments used were tests in the form of AKM questions and interviews. The selection of subjects is based on the categorization level of the results of the emotional intelligence questionnaire and learning style. The results showed that students who have high emotional intelligence with visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles, are able to plan, monitor, and evaluate the results of their work properly and accurately. However, students with high emotional intelligence with visual and kinesthetic learning styles are more able to express and explain the results of their thoughts clearly and coherently. Meanwhile, students who have low emotional intelligence with visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles have not been able to plan, monitor, and evaluate their work properly. These students tend not to be able to understand the problem information and have not been able to plan the solution steps appropriately. In this study it was also found that students who have visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles do not have differences in the quality of the three styles or vice versa. Each student has their own characteristics in solving the problems given. This is largely influenced by the emotional intelligence possessed by students.

Abstract

This study examines the application of affine transformations to the geometric structure of the Atakkae traditional house in Wajo Regency, South Sulawesi, in the context of ethnomathematics. This traditional house, known as Saoraja La Tenri Bali, is a typical Bugis stilt house with architectural uniqueness in the form of 101 pillars and large dimensions. Affine transformations were used to analyze the geometric elements of this traditional house, including scale, rotation and shear, in order to understand the mathematical relationships in traditional design. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through direct observation and literature review. Geometric visualization was conducted using Blender software, which utilizes matrix transformation to model the structure of the traditional house in detail. The results show that the geometric elements in Atakkae traditional houses reflect a combination of local wisdom and mathematical principles, which are relevant in preserving culture while providing new insights into the relationship between mathematics and tradition. The findings are expected to contribute to the documentation of cultural heritage and the development of ethnomathematics learning.

Abstract

Mathematics education at the high school level often faces challenges, particularly in conveying abstract concepts that students find difficult to understand. One solution to support the learning process is the use of interactive software like GeoGebra, which enables dynamic visualization of mathematical concepts in a more accessible way. However, in Sidrap Regency, few mathematics teachers are proficient in utilizing GeoGebra. Therefore, this training aims to enhance teachers' ability to operate GeoGebra, develop interactive learning media, and encourage its implementation in teaching activities. The training includes several stages, from introducing theory, practicing GeoGebra usage, interactive learning simulations, to evaluation and mentoring. The training results show an increase in teachers' competencies in using GeoGebra, as well as their ability to design more engaging and interactive mathematics lessons. In conclusion, this training is expected to improve the quality of high school mathematics education, support teachers' creativity in utilizing technology, and increase students' understanding and interest in mathematics. This program also has the potential to encourage technology-based educational transformation, aligning with the demands of the digital era.

Abstract

Reading is an act that opens the door to knowledge and new information for individuals. However, the interest in reading in Indonesia has a concerning record. Indonesia ranks 60th out of 61 countries in the reading interest index. UNESCO data shows that only 0.001% of Indonesia's population actively reads. Factors such as the lack of school libraries, limited budgets, and the impact of technology have contributed to the low reading interest, especially among students. The LINE Program is an initiative by the UNM 2023 KKNT team aimed at increasing the reading interest of elementary school children in Jompie Village. This program uses participatory observation methods to understand children's interaction with books and literacy. The LINE program has successfully achieved positive results. Children's reading interest has increased, they have developed reading skills, taken the initiative to read independently, expanded their vocabulary, and gained a deeper understanding. This program also promotes lifelong learning. The LINE program has transformed children into diligent and initiative readers, providing long-term benefits in their literacy and education development. In efforts to increase reading interest in Indonesia, initiatives like this are crucial to be implemented nationwide.

Abstract

This research is a type of classroom action research (CAR) which aims to improve students' mathematics learning outcomes through the application of PBL learning. The subjects in this study were students of class XI.4 at UPT SMA Negeri 11 Makassar consisting of 36 students. The instruments used to collect data included observation sheets of learning implementation, observation sheets of student activities and mathematics learning outcome tests. Data analysis was carried out using quantitative descriptive techniques using percentages. The results showed that the application of PBL learning models was able to improve students' mathematics learning outcomes. This can be seen from the percentage increase in learning outcomes from cycle I to cycle II, where in cycle I there were 17 students who achieved KKM (47.2%), while in cycle II the number increased to 31 students (86.11%).

Abstract

This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) which is carried out in two cycles,Each cycle consists of four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. This researchaims toimproving students' collaboration skills through the application of the problem based learning (PBL) model with the Teaching at The Right Level (TaRL) approach to students in class X.1 of SMA Negeri 11 Makassar with 35 students as subjects. The data collection technique used was observation. The results of the study showed that the implementation of learning using the problem based learning (PBL) model with the Teaching at The Right Level (TaRL) approach can improve students' collaboration skills. This is evidenced by an increase in the average percentage of students' collaboration skills from 56% in the pre-cycle to 65% in cycle 1, then increasing again to 80% in cycle 2.
