Abstract

Abstract

Several concepts in science subjects are abstract, making it difficult for students to understand the material and resulting in low learning outcomes. This issue is further exacerbated by the limited use of engaging learning media that support deep conceptual understanding. To address this issue, a visual novel-based learning media titled "Bima's Adventure" was developed for the topic of Earth's atmospheric layers. This study aims to determine the feasibility of the visual novel game "Bima's Adventure" as a learning medium to improve students' learning outcomes on the topic of Earth's atmospheric layers. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model. The validation results showed a score of 93% (very valid) for media validation and 87% (very valid) for material validation. The trial results indicated that the media was efficient, based on teacher response questionnaires (96.9%) and student response questionnaires (92.89%). In addition, using this media significantly improved student learning outcomes, as evidenced by an N-Gain score of 0.71 (high) and a Mann-Whitney U-Test significance value of 0.000. Beyond improving academic performance, "Bima's Adventure" fostered student engagement through a problem-based learning approach.

Abstract

Lack of understanding of socialization skills in children in kindergarten is caused by limited variations in learning media and lack of knowledge from teachers regarding its importance. As a result, interactions between boys and girls tend to occur without any boundaries that are in accordance with the child's gender. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the use of animated sex education videos on socialization skills in kindergarten. This quantitative study used an experimental method. The population in the study consisted of early childhood children in state kindergartens, totaling 277 children. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling. The total sample of the study was 40. The methods used in collecting data were observation and testing. The instruments used in collecting data were observation sheets and test questions. The data analysis technique used in this study was to compare the differences between the two average values, so it was carried out with a t-test. The results of the study showed that the average value of children's socialization skills before being given treatment in the form of animated sex education videos was 21.60, and the average value of children's socialization skills after being given treatment in the form of animated sex education videos was 29.65. The results of the hypothesis test show the influence of the use of animated sex education videos on children's socialization skills in kindergarten. It is concluded that the use of animated sex education videos can improve children's socialization skills in kindergarten. The implication of this research is that the use of animated sex education videos can help children learn boundaries according to their gender.

Abstract

In alignment with the mandate of the Ministerial Regulation of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Permendikbudristek) No. 30 of 2021 on the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (PPKS) and ITB's Strategic Plan for continuous transformation to achieve national and global recognition, this community service initiative is designed to establish a zero-tolerance policy toward sexual harassment. Sexual harassment is a significant barrier to achieving educational goals; therefore, more rigorous efforts are needed to disseminate anti-sexual violence awareness from the university to external stakeholders surrounding the campus environment, such as vendors, café owners, boarding house managers, online motorcycle taxi drivers, and students. The socialization given by PPKS task force team  for those audiences. These output include publications in mass media, pocketbooks, and stickers. Among the 156 participants who attended, the largest proportion comprised students (46.2%; n=72), followed by campus business operators (45.5%; n=71), café managers (6.4%; n=10), boarding house managers (1.3%; n=2), and online drivers (0.6%; n=1). It is expected the collaborative involvement of all stakeholders will strengthen efforts to prevent sexual violence within the campus environment.
