Abstract

This study aims to develop a feasible and effective problem-based learning module. This research is a type of research and development with the stages of preliminary research, model development, and model testing. The number of samples in this study consisted of 10 teachers of Creative Products and Entrepreneurship (PKK), one material expert, one media expert, and 182 students. The instruments used are interview guides, questionnaires, and pretest and post-test questions. The data analysis technique in this study used a qualitative and quantitative approach. The results show that the learning model for PKK subjects used in Vocational High Schools is quite varied; learning activities use learning models oriented to student activities. However, teachers still experience several obstacles, such as teaching materials or textbooks that are still limited to support active learning activities, so it is necessary to develop problem-based learning module (PBL). The results of the module assessment carried out by experts, vocational teachers, and students were categorized as "feasible." Testing the module by acquiring an average N-Gain score for pretest and post-test shows that the problem-based module is quite effective in use with an effective contribution in the "strong effect" category

Abstract

Objective: Vocational education plays a strategic role in preparing competent workers aligned with industrial needs, yet the implementation of the Skills Competency Test (UKK) still faces issues such as gaps between taught competencies and industry demands, mismatches between education and the labor market, and the lack of UKK standardization. This study aims to analyze vocational school policies in designing UKK schemes to enhance the relevance of vocational education to labor market needs, focusing on the effectiveness of these policies in preparing students to face workplace challenges. Method: The research method is carried out through case studies with the stages of formulating research focus, data collection, data processing and analysis, triangulation of findings, and drawing conclusions as a basis for recommendations for improving the vocational education system. Results indicate UKK scheme selection relies on internal and external factors, particularly industry synchronization. The industrial scheme is more technologically adaptive and cost-efficient than LSP. However, trade-offs include limited facilities and the short three-year LSP certificate validity relative to industry demands. Periodic evaluation of materials and tools is essential to address gaps, enhance quality, and prepare graduates for global competition. Novelty: Going beyond procedural compliance, this study offers new insights into UKK standardization by analyzing strategic scheme selection. This study integrates policy analysis with implementation results to redefine UKK as a mechanism for operationalizing national standards and enhancing graduates' global competitiveness.

Abstract

Abstract. SMK graduates face challenges in work culture alignment. 5R implementation at SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Jatinom is not yet internalized sustainably. This study aims to develop a religious-based 5R work culture guidebook. The method uses Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model involving 85 teachers and employees, and validation by ten experts. Results show current 5R conditions are at the habituation stage but depend on external supervision. Strategic religious values like amanah and discipline are integrated into 5R elements. The product was declared feasible in the "Good" category (score 3.60) by experts. Field trials showed the product was practical (3.48), effective (3.48), and well-accepted (3.56) by 90.5% of users. Religious value integration changed 5R perception from administrative burden to worship, increasing intrinsic motivation. It is concluded that the guidebook is feasible for adoption as a permanent institutional guide to build sustainable work culture through balancing technical, pedagogical, and spiritual dimensions. Keywords: Work culture, 5R, Religious values, ADDIE, SMK Abstrak. Lulusan SMK menghadapi tantangan kesenjangan budaya kerja industri. Abstract

Objective: The high unemployment rate of vocational high school graduates (9.01%) contrasts with the availability of jobs in industrial areas, indicating a gap between competency and career choices. This study aims to examine the determinants of career choices of vocational high school students in industrial areas through a phenomenological approach. Method: This phenomenological study involved five 12th-grade vocational high school students in the Weleri-Kendal industrial area using semi-structured interviews. Results: The results show that career choices are determined by a dynamic interaction between personal factors (intrinsic interest), the view of success as an internal factor, entrepreneurial spirit as an adaptive strategy, and responses to economic and social realities. Field Work Practice (PKL) experiences play a central role in career validation. Entrepreneurial spirit functions as an adaptive strategy that helps students overcome uncertainty. These findings imply the need for transformation of career guidance services in vocational high schools from merely providing job vacancy information to facilitators that build students' self-efficacy, tolerance for uncertainty, and adaptive capacity through a holistic approach. Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in deepening the meaning of students' lived experiences amidst the pressures of the industrial ecosystem, which has so far been neglected in survey-based research to understand the dynamics of career choices of vocational high school students in developing countries.
