Abstract

The purpose of this study was to improve the poetry writing skills of grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 5 Gunungsitoli using the Examples Non-Examples Learning Model. This Classroom Action Research (PTK) activity is carried out in two cycles using quality and quantitative data analysis. The subjects of this study were 31 students of grade VIII-A SMP Negeri 5 Gunungsitoli. Data collection techniques using tests and non-tests consist of observation and interviews. The results of this study show that there is an increase in the ability to write poetry through the examples non examples learning model. It can be seen in the first cycle that the average score of students was 69.35 with a very good category of 19.35%, a good category of 41.94%, a sufficient category of 29.03%, and a less category of 9.68%. In the second cycle, the average score of students was 76.13 with a very good category of 38.71% and a good category of 61.29%. Based on the results of the study, the application of the Examples Non-Examples Learning Model can improve the poetry writing skills of grade VIII - A students of SMP Negeri 5 Gunungsitoli

Abstract

Background. Education is the main pillar in the development of a country, where the quality of education plays a crucial role in forming the next generation of high quality and competitiveness. Student learning motivation in Junior High School is a very important factor in achieving this goal. Purpose. This research aims to investigate the influence of the school environment on students” learning motivation at State Junior High School 1 Alasa Talumuzoi. Method. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data was collected through questionnaires, interviews and direct observation of 20 students in class VIII-A.  Results. The results of the questionnaire data analysis show that the influence of the school environment on student learning motivation is in the medium category, with a score percentage of 49.55%. A clean, beautiful, safe and comfortable school environment makes a positive contribution in increasing students” learning motivation by creating an atmosphere that is conducive to learning. Positive interactions between students, teachers and school staff also play an important role in creating a pleasant learning climate. Conclusion. This research provides a deeper understanding of how the school environment at State Junior High School 1 Alasa Talumuzoi plays a role in shaping student learning motivation. The implication of this research is that efforts are needed to optimize the school environment in order to improve the quality of learning and overall student academic achievement.

Abstract

Berdasarkan informasi yang didapat peneliti melalui observasi dan wawancara di UPTD SMP Negeri 2 Gunungsitoli Alo’oa, menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan peserta didik masih kurang dalam menulis surat pribadi. Jadi, penelitian ini dilakukan bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan peserta didik dalam menulis surat pribadi dengan menggunakan model Concept Sentence di kelas VII UPTD SMP Negeri 2 Gunungsitoli Alo’oa. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) di dalamnya terdapat empat tahapan yakni: 1) Perencanaan, 2) Tindakan, 3) Observasi dan 4) Refleksi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan sebanyak 2 siklus. Penelitian pada siklus I pertemuan pertama hasil observasi peserta didik aktif 51%, dan pertemuan kedua aktif 58%. Sedangkan, pada siklus II pertemuan pertama hasil observasi peserta didik aktif 63% dan pertemuan kedua aktif 92%. Hasil observasi peneliti siklus I pertemuan pertama terlaksana 67% dan pertemuan kedua yang terlaksana 83%. Sedangkan, siklus II pertemuan pertama 58% terlaksana dan pertemuan kedua terlaksana 92%. Berdasarkan hasil tes menulis surat pribadi sesuai struktur, bahasa dan isi surat pribadi pada siklus I hasil nilai rata- rata tes 55% dengan nilai terendah 33 dan nilai tertinggi 78. Sedangkan, pada siklus II 71% dengan nilai terendah 44 dan nilai tertinggi 89. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa dengan penggunaan model Concept Sentence dapat meningkatkan kemampuan dan memotivasi peserta didik dalam menulis surat pribadi di kelas VII UPTD SMP Negeri 2 Gunungsitoli Alo’oa. Saran: peneliti menyarankan kepada sekolah dan guru mata pelajaran di UPTD SMP Negeri 2 Gunungsitoli Alo’oa untuk menggunakan model Concept Sentence dalam mengajar keterampilan menulis kepada peserta didik serta dapat dijadikan sebagai referensi untuk meningkatkan kualitas proses belajar mengajar.
