Abstract

Emesis gravidarum, commonly known as morning sickness, often disrupts activities for pregnant women, primarily due to decreased progesterone levels and fluctuating hCG levels. A non-pharmacological approach to alleviate this condition involves acupressure massage at the P6 (Neiguan) point, combined with ginger juice and honey. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of this method in reducing emesis gravidarum in Indonesian women during their first trimester. Utilizing a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design, the research included 205 pregnant women experiencing first-trimester emesis gravidarum, selected through purposive sampling. Data collection was performed using the PUQE-24 questionnaire and observation sheets. The analysis, conducted with paired sample t-tests, revealed an average severity score reduction from 9.40 (moderate) to 4.49 (mild), showing a significant average difference of 4.91. The bivariate analysis confirmed the effectiveness of the intervention, with a p-value of 0.000. This method is recommended for health workers as it is cost-effective, has no side effects, and provides a safe treatment option for managing emesis gravidarum in pregnant women.

Abstract

Anxiety among pregnant women in the third trimester (TM III) often increases as delivery approaches, potentially affecting their childbirth experience and maternal-neonatal outcomes. Education on childbirth preparation through simple media, such as flipcharts, has the potential to reduce anxiety by enhancing knowledge and self-efficacy. Well-prepared childbirth can impact maternal-neonatal safety, reduce anxiety, and influence the choice of a safe birth setting. The use of appropriate educational media (educational videos, booklets/leaflets, flipcharts, and KIA books) can enhance knowledge and readiness among third-trimester pregnant women. However, local evidence from practice in Independent Midwifery Practice. Childbirth preparation is a crucial aspect of enhancing both the physical and psychological readiness of third-trimester pregnant women. The right educational media can serve as an effective tool to increase knowledge, reduce anxiety, and aid decision-making in preparation for childbirth. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of media as an educational tool for childbirth preparation among third-trimester pregnant women in Independent Midwifery Practice Places (TPMB) in Jakarta and Bekasi in 2025. A quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest approach was employed. The sample consisted of 30 third-trimester pregnant women who met the inclusion criteria. Data were collected using validated knowledge and anxiety questionnaires. Data analysis was conducted using paired t-tests and Wilcoxon signed-rank tests to compare pre- and post-intervention results. The findings indicated a significant increase in knowledge (p < 0.05) and a reduction in anxiety levels among most respondents after the media intervention. The media proved to be an effective tool for childbirth education among third-trimester pregnant women. Abstract

Juvenile delinquency and drug abuse are problems that still frequently occur in school environments and can have a negative impact on adolescent development. Various factors are thought to play a role in the emergence of such behavior, particularly environmental and psychological factors. This study aims to identify and analyze the relationship between environmental and psychological factors and juvenile delinquency and drug abuse in the school environment of Vocational High School Gema Karya Bahana Bekasi. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The study population consisted of 226 students, with a sample of 144 respondents determined using the Slovin formula. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire with a Likert scale that measured environmental factors, psychological factors, juvenile delinquency, and drug abuse. Data analysis included univariate analysis to describe the characteristics of each variable and bivariate analysis to determine the relationship between variables. Bivariate analysis was performed using Spearman's rho nonparametric correlation test with a significance level of α = 0.05. The results of the study show a positive and significant relationship between environmental factors and juvenile delinquency (rₛ = 0.272; p = 0.001) and between environmental factors and drug abuse (rₛ = 0.379; p = 0.000). Conversely, psychological factors did not show a significant relationship with either juvenile delinquency or drug abuse. The conclusion of this study shows that environmental factors play a more dominant role in influencing juvenile delinquency and drug abuse in the school environment than psychological factors.

Abstract

Background: Depression and anxiety in postpartum women have a significant impact on the health of the mother, infant, and family. Early detection is essential to prevent long-term psychological complications. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate whether completing the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS), followed by a 20-minute brief education session delivered by midwives, could reduce EPDS scores among postpartum women within two weeks after the intervention. Methods: A quasi-experimental non-randomized controlled pre–post design was conducted at Pondok Bambu 1 Primary Health Center (intervention) and Pondok Gede District Hospital (control) using purposive sampling. A total of 52 postpartum women participated, with 26 assigned to the intervention group and 26 to the control group. The intervention consisted of EPDS screening followed by a brief education session on perinatal mental health, while the control group received routine care only. Results: Results showed that the mean EPDS score in the intervention group decreased from 13.23 ± 2.50 to 6.96 ± 2.18 (Δ = 6.27; 95% CI [−6.89; −5.65]; p < 0.001; d = 2.07), whereas the control group showed no significant change. The post-intervention Mann–Whitney test indicated a significant difference between groups (p = 0.021). Conclusion: These findings highlight that EPDS screening followed by brief education by healthcare providers is effective in reducing psychological distress in postpartum women. Integration of this program into postnatal care services is highly recommended to improve maternal and infant mental health outcomes.
