Abstract

Understanding the distribution and characteristics of volcanic deposits is crucial for assessing geological hazards and resource potential. This study employs a two-dimensional electrical resistivity imaging (2D ERI) survey to model the subsurface structure of volcanic deposits at Talamau Mountain in West Pasaman, Indonesia. The survey was conducted to map the spatial extent, depth, and composition of these deposits, providing insights into their geophysical properties. The 2D ERI technique, which measures the electrical resistance of subsurface materials, allowed for the differentiation between various types of volcanic deposits based on their resistivity contrasts. Results from the survey reveal distinct layers of volcanic breccia, coarse tuff, fine tuff, and lava flows which are segmented by a fault that runs northeast to southeast. It is apparent in the 3D modelling results of the inversion of three 2D cross-sectional profiles that the trend in volcaniclastic materials has changed from aggradation to progradation. The integration of 2D ERI data with 3D geological modelling and stratigraphic analysis enhances our understanding of the volcanic history and subsurface complexity of Talamau Mountain. This approach not only aids in volcanic hazard assessment but also contributes to the broader geophysical knowledge of volcanic terrains for geologists and hazard mitigation planners in Talamau volcanic regions.

Abstract

The description of thin sections observations has traditionally relied on the visual comparison method, often using a visual comparison chart. However, this method has interpretative limitations, as readings can vary between individuals, and the values produced tend to be rounded. The point counting method for determining frequency is one of the statistical approaches that quantitatively counts the presence of mineral grains or particles. The limestone samples were collected from the Rajamandala Formation in the Cikamuning area of West Java, Indonesia. The methodology involved petrographic observations using the point counting method, which entailed creating a grid on the thin sections with a total of 312 points and calculating the percentage of occurrence of the constituent rock compositions. The analysis results showed constituent composition percentages of 33.65% for corals, 52.24% for matrix, 4.81% for cement, 2.56% for calcite, 3.85% for replacement, and 2.88% for porosity, categorizing the rock as coral wackstone. The facies is determined based on the presence of biota, while diagenesis is determined by the presence of cement types, secondary porosity, and grain contacts. In the research area, the identified facies is open marine (FZ 7), and the diagenesis includes marine phreatic, meteoric phreatic, and burial diagenesis.

Abstract

Pemanfaatan teknologi berbasis web dalam pemetaan geomorfologi sangat penting karena memudahkan penyebaran informasi secara cepat dan luas. Platform pemetaan web gratis memberikan akses mudah bagi individu untuk mendapatkan data geomorfologi, baik langsung maupun tidak langsung. Keberadaan platform ini memungkinkan analisis spasial yang efisien, menjadikannya alat yang berharga bagi siswa dan masyarakat umum. Dalam dunia pendidikan, teknologi ini dapat diintegrasikan dalam kurikulum, membantu siswa memahami konsep-konsep geomorfologi secara aplikatif dan interaktif. Selain itu, teknologi ini memungkinkan pengembangan materi ajar yang lebih menarik dan sesuai kebutuhan siswa. Dengan demikian, guru dapat meningkatkan kualitas pengajaran mereka, sementara siswa memperoleh pengetahuan lebih dalam mengenai geomorfologi dan ilmu kebumian. Penggunaan teknologi berbasis web ini tidak hanya bermanfaat dalam pendidikan, tetapi juga membuka peluang bagi pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan yang lebih maju. Integrasi teknologi web dalam pemetaan geomorfologi sangat penting, baik untuk pendidikan maupun pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan secara keseluruhan.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the cold lahar flood disaster, which caused significant damage to agricultural land and directly affected local food security. The objectives of the research are to (1) identify areas affected by cold lahar flooding in Lima Kaum District and (2) analyze its impact on local food security. A quantitative descriptive method with a spatial approach was used to identify land damage, alongside the Damage and Loss Assessment (DaLA) method to estimate production losses due to the disaster. Data were collected through field observations and satellite image interpretation, and analyzed using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The findings show that 72.27 hectares of rice fields were affected, with an estimated economic loss of Rp2.89 billion per harvest season. Additionally, supporting infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and irrigation channels suffered damage, disrupting physical access to food, particularly within the first seven days after the disaster. The impact on food security was observed primarily in the decline of local food availability, especially reduced rice yields, which are the main food source for the community. The study concludes that cold lahar flooding poses serious implications for the sustainability of local food systems. Therefore, spatially based disaster mitigation strategies and the protection of productive agricultural land are essential to maintaining food security in disaster-prone areas.

Abstract

Peran teknologi dalam pembelajaran tidak dapat dipisahkan. Hal tersebut semakin terasa saat terjadi pandemi Covid-19. Pada sisi yang lain, guru memiliki keharusan untuk menyesuaikan diri dengan perkembangan teknologi dalam pembelajaran, tidak terkecuali dalam pembelajaran geografi. Materi litosfer butuh berbantuan teknologi, kerena materi yang penting namun terbatas dalam media/labor di sekolah. Aplikasi virtual mikroskop dapat digunakan sebagai salah satu solusi untuk pembelajaran kontekstual, mudah, murah dan efektif. Metode Pengabdian dilakukan dengan pelatihan kompetensi pedagogi berbasis partisipatif. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan penguasaan media virtual mikroskop oleh guru MGMP geografi Kota Padang Panjang sangat meningkat hampir 95%. Hal tersebut dibuktikan dengan penguasaan materi, fitur media, pengembangan skenario pembelajaran berbasis STEM.

Abstract

Banjir lahar dingin di Nagari Batu Taba, Kabupaten Agam, menyebabkan kerusakan besar pada lahan pertanian, mengubah fungsi lahan dan menurunkan produktivitas panen. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi perubahan penggunaan lahan dan dampaknya terhadap produktivitas pertanian. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif dengan analisis spasial melalui overlay citra satelit, serta pengumpulan data primer melalui kuesioner kepada 74 petani terdampak dan observasi lapangan. Data dianalisis dengan SIG dan perangkat lunak statistik. Hasil menunjukkan sekitar 43.417 hektar lahan sawah terdampak, mengalami kerusakan parah yang menyebabkan perubahan fungsi menjadi perkebunan atau lahan kosong serta kerusakan sistem irigasi. Dampak ini menurunkan produktivitas pertanian dan mempengaruhi kesejahteraan petani. Kebaruan penelitian terletak pada penggabungan data peta dengan survei kuesioner langsung di lokasi, sehingga menghasilkan gambaran lengkap yang praktis untuk pemulihan lahan pasca-bencana. Hasil penelitian dapat menjadi dasar perencanaan mitigasi bencana dan program rehabilitasi pertanian berkelanjutan guna menjaga ketahanan pangan dan memperbaiki kesejahteraan masyarakat terdampak.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis tingkat risiko erupsi Gunung Marapi terhadap permukiman di Kecamatan Pariangan, Kabupaten Tanah Datar, serta mengkaji ancaman banjir lahar dingin pada aliran sungai. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan mixed methods dengan analisis kuantitatif berupa perhitungan risiko berdasarkan parameter bahaya, kerentanan, dan kapasitas, serta analisis spasial menggunakan Sistem Informasi Geografis (SIG). Data kualitatif diperoleh melalui wawancara untuk memperkuat gambaran kapasitas masyarakat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan variasi tingkat risiko pada tiap nagari: tinggi di Nagari Pariangan dan Sungai Jambu, sedang di Batu Basa dan Simabur, serta rendah di Tabek dan Sawah Tangah. Analisis lahar dingin mengonfirmasi bahwa permukiman di jalur sungai lebih rentan. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya mitigasi berbasis spasial dan partisipatif sebagai dasar perencanaan permukiman aman bencana.
