Abstract

Introduction: Work stress is a significant issue that can adversely impact both physical and mental health, particularly among healthcare professionals like nurses. It often arises from high patient demands, heavy workloads, and emergency situations requiring quick responses. Objective: This study aims to describe the level of work stress experienced by nurses in the inpatient ward of So'e Regional General Hospital and to identify the associated symptoms. Method: The research employed a descriptive design with a quantitative approach, utilizing a case study format. A structured questionnaire was administered to collect data, involving 115 respondents who work in the inpatient ward. Result: The findings revealed that the majority of nurses experienced work stress categorized as mild, with only a small percentage reporting moderate or severe stress levels. Additionally, the data indicated that the prevalence of physiological, psychological, and behavioral symptoms among the respondents was generally low, suggesting that while stress is present, it may not be at a level that significantly affects their overall health. Conclusion: This study underscores the importance of understanding work stress conditions among nurses. The results provide a foundational overview that can inform the development of targeted stress management interventions in healthcare settings. By addressing these issues, hospitals can improve nurse well-being and enhance the overall quality of healthcare services, ultimately benefiting both staff and patients.

Abstract

Introduction: The provision of Complementary Feeding (MP-ASI) for children is a critical stage in growth and development, especially between the ages of 6-24 months. During this period, children transition from exclusive breastfeeding to other foods that support their nutritional needs. Inadequate MP-ASI can lead to nutritional problems that affect children's health and development. This study aims to examine the relationship between the provision of MP-ASI and nutritional status in children aged 6-24 months at the Sikumana Health Center in Kupang. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the impact of MP-ASI on the nutritional status of children aged 6-24 months and to assess whether the type and timing of MP-ASI affect children's nutritional status. Method: This research used a descriptive analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of children aged 6-24 months visiting the Sikumana Health Center. A total of 100 children were selected using simple random sampling. Data was collected through questionnaires, measurements of weight and height, and observations of MP-ASI practices. Descriptive statistics were used for data analysis, and the relationship between MP-ASI provision and nutritional status was analyzed using chi-square tests. Results: The majority of children (70%) who received adequate and timely MP-ASI had good nutritional status. Children who did not receive adequate or timely MP-ASI showed higher rates of malnutrition. Chi-square analysis showed a significant relationship between MP-ASI provision and nutritional status (p<0.05). Conclusion: The study concluded that appropriate MP-ASI provision is related to children's nutritional status. These findings are important for nursing practice, emphasizing the importance of educating about proper MP-ASI in primary healthcare settings.

This research describes the understanding, belief, and related behaviors toward the diabetes mellitus of Diabetes Mellitus type II patients in the Eastern region of Indonesia. The researchers grouped the participants in a semi-structured focus group. The group consisted of 12 participants aged between 45 and 55 years old. The focused group was useful to obtain the perspective, experience, and attitude about diabetes. The researchers analyzed the qualitative data with the Health Belief Model as the analytical framework to identify the patterns and the main findings. The analysis results found five primary themes related to understanding, belief, and diabetic behavior. The themes were: The diabetic understanding of the Eastern regional communities such as the cultural problem and the role of local beliefs to treatment diabetes. The tradition and the modern medical approach, the challenges of healthy lifestyle practice, the psychological impacts of diabetes on health, and the expectations and the challenges of the local health system. The researchers expect the findings could be the principle for developing more directed and effective interventions

Abstract

Introduction: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) remains a major non-communicable disease and a growing public health concern globally and in Indonesia. Obesity is widely recognized as a key modifiable risk factor contributing to insulin resistance and the development of T2DM. In primary healthcare and community settings, evidence regarding the association between obesity and T2DM is essential to support effective preventive and promotive nursing interventions. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the association between obesity and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus among patients in the working area of Sikumana Public Health Center, Kupang City. Method: This study employed a quantitative analytic observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of 935 adult patients registered at Sikumana Public Health Center. A total of 93 respondents were selected using purposive sampling based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Obesity status was assessed using Body Mass Index (BMI), while T2DM status was obtained from secondary medical record data. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis and bivariate analysis with the Chi-square test at a significance level of p ≤ 0.05. Results: The results showed that 51.6% of respondents were classified as obese. The proportion of obesity was higher among respondents with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus compared to those without diabetes. Statistical analysis demonstrated a significant association between obesity and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (χ² = 12.081; p = 0.001). Conclusion: Obesity was significantly associated with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus among patients in the working area of Sikumana Public Health Center. These findings highlight the importance of obesity prevention and weight management strategies as part of nursing-led health promotion and disease prevention programs to reduce the burden of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus at the primary healthcare level.
