Abstract

Environmental Impact Analysis (EIA) in the context of Puskesmas is an environmental assessment instrument used to identify, analyze, and evaluate the potential environmental impact of Puskesmas development and operational activities. The EIA acts as a strategic planning document, providing a basis for the government and activity managers to make the right decisions The Gunung Tinggi Health Center located on Jalan Glugur Rimbun is one of the health facilities planned to improve health services for the surrounding community The Environmental Impact Analysis at the Gunung Tinggi Health Center on Jalan Glugur Rimbun is important to identify, predict, evaluate, and mitigate environmental impacts that may arise from the development and operational activities of the Health Center. The method used is a descriptive survey with direct observation techniques using a checklist sheet based on indicators from the Ministry of Health with indicators of assessment of liquid waste, waste, solids, B3 waste, and facilities & infrastructure. The results of the study show that B3 waste management has been carried out in collaboration with third parties, but liquid waste management is not optimal due to the unavailability of Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP). Most solid waste is disposed of directly to the polling station without adequate sorting. Facilities and infrastructure are generally up to standard, but waste management needs to be improved through training, provision of adequate facilities, and a structured monitoring system.

Abstract

Markets are vulnerable places for fly breeding, especially when waste management and fly control are not properly implemented. Therefore, active community participation is crucial in maintaining market cleanliness through proper waste management and effective fly control. This study aims to examine the influence of community participation in waste management and fly control on the presence of flies at Pancur Batu Market, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra. The research used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach. The sample size in this study was 54 respondents, and the data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the chi-square test. Based on the analysis results, there was a significant relationship between waste management and fly control with the level of fly presence at Pancur Batu Market (p < 0.05). Respondents with poor waste management and inadequate fly control had a higher risk of experiencing high fly presence. Poor waste management increased the risk by 2.246 times, while poor fly control increased the risk by 2.010 times compared to those with good management and control. These findings highlight the importance of community participation in optimizing waste management and fly control efforts to reduce fly populations in market environments.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Raw water sources are essential in providing clean water, and their quality must be maintained to meet health standards. The quality of raw water is affected by environmental conditions, rainfall, and human activities along river flows. Domestic, agricultural, and industrial activities often lead to pollution through suspended particles, chemical compounds, and organic materials that increase turbidity and alter the water’s physical and chemical properties. Therefore, effective treatment is needed to ensure water is safe for consumption. This study aims to analyze the physical and chemical parameters in the raw water treatment system at Perumda Tirtanadi Sunggal. The research used a qualitative descriptive method through field observations and secondary data from laboratory tests conducted at the same location. The physical parameters observed were temperature, color, and turbidity, while the chemical parameters included pH, ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, organic substances, and metal contents such as Fe, Mn, and Al. The raw water originated from the middle part of Sei Belawan, an area susceptible to pollution from domestic, agricultural, and industrial waste. Results showed that the turbidity and Fe content of the raw water exceeded raw water testing standards. However, after treatment, all parameters met the Indonesian drinking water quality standards as stated in the Minister of Health Regulation No. 2 of 2023 and Government Regulation No. 22 of 2021 concerning Environmental Protection and Management. The study emphasizes that continuous improvement of the treatment process is essential to maintain high water quality throughout the distribution system in accordance with hygiene and sanitation standards.
