Abstract

In 2021, Cilegon City was in the category of yellow stunting zones with a prevalence of 20.6%. This stunting prevalence rate showed that children aged 6 months to 2 years did not get adequate feeding practices and appropriate complementary foods. One way to increase the nutritional intake of babies in the first 1000 days of life is to use functional foods, such as dates. The aim of this study was to evaluate date palm juice as an adjunct for growth correction in stunted children in Cilegon City. The date juice group was the group used in the pre-experimental pre-test-post test design. The data analysis used was the dependent T-test (paired sample). The samples were 10 babies under two years old who were diagnosed stunting, selected by a total sampling technique. The results of the study showed that there was a difference in body length increase (p=0.001) and weight gain (p=0.000) after being given date palm juice. This shows that date palm juice can correct growth in babies under with stunting. The parents need to be informed and educated about the nutritional values and consumption of date juice to improve the nutritional status of their babies.

Abstract

Anemia is a deficiency of red blood cells where the number of red blood cells decreases, oxygen uptake and blood flow to the brain also decreases. The aim was to compare the effectiveness of beetroot juice and red guava juice in increasing hemoglobin in anemic pregnant women. The method used in writing this article is library research or literature review. The literature used in this research is in the form of journals. Journal searches were carried out using Google Scholar and PubMed databases. Research shows that there is a difference between giving red guava juice and beet juice in terms of hemoglobin levels in pregnant women. The average value before and after administration of red guava juice was 8.4 g/dl to 11.5 g/dl, and the average value before and after administration of beetroot juice was 8.5 g/dlto 10.2 g/dl.

Abstract

Based on the 2022 Indonesian Nutrition Status Survey (SSGI), the national prevalence of stunting was 21.6% and Central Java was 20.8%, with the highest prevalence in Central Java and the highest prevalence of stunting in young children in Pekalongan Regency at 23.1%. Growth retardation is a condition where the height or length of a baby's body becomes shorter than their age. Providing additional food to vulnerable groups is a complementary strategy to overcome nutritional challenges. Providing additional nutrition to babies is one effort to meet the nutritional needs of babies so that they can achieve optimal growth and development. This study is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design that aims to determine the effectiveness of animal protein intake (eggs and fish) on stunted babies. The study was conducted in August by providing food in the form of cooked egg protein and fish to 30 respondents for 30 days. Univariate analysis used frequency distribution, and bivariate analysis used chi-square. The results showed improved nutritional status and decreased stunting before and after the intervention. The statistical test produced a p-value of 0.039, which shows that animal protein (eggs and fish) has an effect on stunting.
