Abstract

Antibacterial potency of some seaweed against Escherichia coli has been known. The aim of this research is to know the species of seaweeds from Bayah beach Lebak Banten which may be used as antibacterial against Escherichia coli. Twenty one seaweed species samples from Bayah Beach Lebak Banten were exstracted by organic solvent of absolute methanol according to Espeche, Fraile, and Mayer (1984) and Darusman, Sayuti, Komar & Pamungkas (1992) methods. The antibacterial activities were examined by means of Kirby-Bauer or diffusion method. The results showed antibacterial activities occur from the extract of Boodlea composite, Chaetomorpha crassa, Ulva fasciata, Sargassum crustaefolium, Padina australis and Halimeda gracilis. Sofar, Padina australis extract had shown better inhibitory activities than others.

Abstract

Ciletuh merupakan salah satu kawasan ekowisata yang menerapkan pendekatan based tourism yaitu masyarakat berperan penting dalam menunjang pembangunan pariwisata. Makroalga dan tumbuhan mangrove merupakan sumberdaya hayati yang memiliki peranan penting secara ekologi, terutama karena daya dukungnya bagi kawasan pesisir, serta sebagai sumber makanan dan habitat bagi berbagai biota laut, Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis-jenis, keanekaragaman dan kelimpahan makroalga dan tumbuhan mangrove di kawasan Geopark Ciletuh, Kabupaten Sukabumi. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan metode line transect dilakukan di pantai Cikadal, Mandrajaya. Keanekaragaman makroalga dan mangrove dianalisis berdasarkan perhitungan indeks keanekaragaman dan kelimpahan relatif. Hasil penelitian diperoleh makroalga sebanyak 25 spesies yang terbagi ke dalam 12 famili, dan tumbuhan mangrove diperoleh sebanyak 13 spesies terbagi ke dalam 5 famili.  Indeks Keanekaragaman jenis makroalga didominasi oleh jenis Gracillaria gracilis dengan nila Indeks Kelimpahan Relatif (IKR) sebesar 3,34, dan tumbuhan mangrove didominasi oleh jenis Avicennia officinalis dengan nilai IKR sebesar 2,89. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa wilayah Geopark Ciletuk masih didominasi oleh makroalga, khususnya jenis Gracillaria gracilis (Famili gracillariaceae). Kesimpulan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keanekaragaman makroalga tergolong tinggi dan kenaekaragaman tumbuhan mangrove tergolong rendah, sehingga diperlukan pengendalian terhadap biota laut akibat aktivitas manusia.

Abstract

The research aims to detect the combined deficiency of two nutrients. Those are nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P), and phosphorus and potassium (K). Here, it is referred to as nutrient deficiencies of N and P and P and K. The researchers use the characteristics of Red, Green, Blue (RGB) color and Sobel edge detection for leaf shape detection and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) for the identification process to make the application of nutrient differentiation identification in cucumber. The data of plant images consist of 450 training data and 150 testing data. The results of identifying nutrient deficiencies in plants using backpropagation neural networks are carried out in three tests. First, using RGB color extraction and Sobel edge detection, the researchers show 65.36% accuracy. Second, using RGB color extraction, it has 70.25% accuracy. Last, with Sobel edge detection, it has 59.52% accuracy.

Abstract

Digital dictionaries have been widely used to facilitate word processing and word search through digital media such as mobile phones. Society generally knows the efficacy and how to mix medicinal plants from the experience of previous parents or through books and writings. Searching through books or writings requires a short time compared to searching through digital media, one of which is a digital dictionary. The research aims to create a digital dictionary of mobile-based medicinal plants which has a search facility based on the words entered, for example, the contents of the medicinal plants. The digital dictionary application of medicinal plants uses a search method with the Rocchio algorithm with relevance feedback techniques to check the proximity of the query to the average document relevant to the level of similarity calculation through the stages of tokenizing, filtering, stemming, and Term Weighting with a total data of 200 medicinal plants.

Abstract

Digital dictionary of medicinal plants a collection of applications a collection of names of medicinal plants. This application was developed to make it easier for users to access the use of medicinal plants based on keywords, names of common diseases such as asthma, diarrhea, fever, headache, diabetes, and so on. The obstacle in using the digital dictionary application of medicinal plants is that it is difficult to find exact information on drug searches, because the vocabulary in producing several other items is not necessarily the same as what is being sought. This study uses the Knuth Morris Pratt (KMP) algorithm search technique on a digital dictionary of medicinal plants by matching keywords as input with strings between text and patterns. This study aims to develop previous research on a digital dictionary of medicinal plants using a mobile-based Rocchio algorithm that searches medicinal plant data by querying proximity in a database that has weaknesses in words that have the same meaning with different words, using another search technique, namely KMP. is expected to get optimal results on search results based on the keyword name of the disease. The test results with 30 keywords on 640 medicinal plant data resulted in a precision value of 92.4, accuracy and recall of 100%.

Abstract

Rumput laut coklat Padina australis merupakan salah satu sumber daya alam laut yang keberadaannya sangat melimpah di perairan pantai Bayah, Banten Indonesia. Kandungan senyawa fenolik dan turunannya (flavonoid) berhubungan dengan aktivitasnya sebagai antibakteri dan antioksidan. Fenolik dianggap sebagai molekul dengan potensi tertinggi untuk menetralkan radikal bebas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan kadar fenolik dan aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak etanol P. australis menggunakan pereaksi Follin-ciocalteu dan 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazyl (DPPH) ekstrak etanol P. australis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kadar fenolik sebesar 42,62 mg SAG/g serbuk dan pada konsentrasi 5000 ppm menghambat sebesar 66, 01 % radikal bebas DPPH.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the activity of the leaf extract of Piper sarmentosum on mortality and damage levels by pest armyworm (Spodoptera litura). This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Pakuan University, Bogor. This study uses a completely randomized design (CRD), with four levels of extract concentration, that is 0% as control, 30%, 40% and 50%.  Each treatment was repeated four times. The variables measured were mortality rates, the extent of damage the leaves, and larval growth. A concentration of EDK 50% showed activity in killing the armyworm by 38%. The lowest level of damage is 5%, with an average growth rate to its lowest larvae by 0.8 cm with the provision of treatment EDK 50%, and the higest level of damage is 75% by a concetration of EDK 30% treatments.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the species of ground cover plant as well as important value index, the level of species diversity and distribution pattern of ground cover in Nature Reserve and Nature Park of Telaga Warna. This research used the transect method and data collection were using field observation technique. The area of observation consists of three locations with different altitudes including 1400, 1500 and 1600 m asl. Each location is made of three transects that lengthwise the topography. Each transect consists of 10 sample plots measuring 1 x 1 meter with transects spaced 10 meters. Ground cover plant are found as many as 28 species consisting of 20 families. Based on the Important Value Index/INP, obtained the species that dominates at 1400 m asl is Impatiens chonoceras, while at 1500 and 1600 m asl is Scleria laevis. Based on the index of diversity was found that the level of diversity at each location is currently abundant. Based on the index of dispersion was found that the dispersion patterns of ground cover plant at each location is clumped.Keywords: ground cover plant, Nature Reserve and Nature Park of Telaga Warna

Abstract

The current utilization of natural materials as a traditional medicine in Indonesia. Aquatic plants has potential as a traditional medicine because it contains active ingredients that are good for health, one of them namely, Padina australis Hauck.The purpose of this study is to establish the most effective concentration of extract of Padina australis as Vibrio cholerae antibacterial and Salmonella typhi. Extract of Padina australis is made by maceration method. Test of the effectivity of extract of Padina australis against Vibrio cholerae and Salmonella typhi. Disc diffusion method Kirby Bauer at the treatment the extract concentration of 50%, 60%, 70%, 80% and control. Results of testing the extract Padina australis against Vibrio cholerae showed a concentration of 80% is the concentration forming the greatest drag areas namely 19.48 mm, while the test results against Salmonella typhi bacteria extract at concentrations of 80% obtained a diameter drag area of 12 mm.Key words : antibacterial, Padina australis Hauck, Vibrio cholerae, and Salmonella typhi.
