Abstract

Elements in language such as phrases, words, and sentences can be analyzed using linguisticstudies, including semantic studies related to language meaning. This article discusses thepolysemy of lexemes 上 (shàng) in the drama series 我的父亲母亲 (Wǒ de fùqīn mǔqīn).This paper uses a qualitative approach, using note-takingand listening and translationtechniques. Data was collected from Mandarin drama series sources and analyzed withreference to representative sources. 22 data were found and 14 data were described. Theresearch results show that there are many dialogues containing the lexeme 上(shàng),indicating that this word is often used in Mandarin both in writing and conversation. In wordformation analysis, the lexeme 上 (shàng) is a free morpheme that can form new words andmeanings. The findings show that the diversity of meanings is still related to basic meaningsand new meanings which must be seen from various aspects in forming meaning.Key words: lexeme 上 (shàng), meaning, polysemy

Abstract

This article provides a comparison analisys of the lexeme "Head (头)" in Indonesian and Mandarin.With a qualitative approach, this research can explore the differences and similarities between theuse of the lexeme "head" in the two languages. Using qualitative methods, it will provide an in-depthdescription of the basic meaning focus and meaning variations of the use of the word "Head (头)" inthe semantic context of each language. Data was collected and analyzed from representative text andliterature sources in Indonesian and Mandarin. The research results show that, although both havesimilar basic meanings as parts of the human body, the words "Head (头)" in Indonesian andMandarin can show variations in meaning in everyday use, and in linguistic expressions. Thesedifferences may reflect differences in cultural thinking and social values related to the concept of"Head 头" in the societies of the two languages. This research provides deeper insight into thelinguistic and cultural differences between Indonesian and Mandarin, with the hope that it canprovide a basis for better understanding in the context of translation and cross-cultural interaction.Keywords: Lexeme“Kepala (头)”, Semantic, Comparative Analysis.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini ditujukan untuk meningkatkan partisipasi elemen masyarakat, khususnya mahasiswa jurusan hospitaliti, program studi manajemen divisi kamar dalam peningkatan kualitas diri di bidang Pendidikan. Dimana pendidikan yang dimaksudkan adalah pendidikan peningkatan bahasa Mandarin hospitaliti. Keterampilan berbahasa Mandarin akan menjadi modal tambahan yang sangat berarti bagi para mahasiswa program studi manajemen divisi kamar dalam mengisi kehidupan mereka di masa yang akan datang. Keterampilan ini akan menjadi investasi besar bagi para mahasiswa program studi divisi kamar dalam menghadapi tahun terbuka yang semakin canggih yang menuntut kita untuk terus berkembang dan pentingnya menguasai bahasa Internasional yaitu Bahasa Mandarin. Kegiatan ini sangat bermanfaat dan tepat guna yang langsung dapat dirasakan oleh para mahasiswa program studi manajemen divisi sebagai keterampilan tambahan.

Abstract

Abstrak. Masalah utama dalam penelitian ini adalah makna merpati dalam novel Die Taube. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan struktural dengan menganalisis struktur cerita dalam novel Die Taube antara lain alur penyajian, tokoh serta latar ruang dan waktu. Digunakan juga pendekatan psikoanalisis Sigmund Freud untuk mengungkapkan makna merpati dalam novel Novel Die Taube. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa merpati dalam novel Die Taube memunculkan kembali ingatan kelam masa lalu tokoh Jonathan Noel yang direpresi dan membuat tokoh Jonathan yang selama tiga puluh tahun hidup seperti robot, mengalami katarsis, setelah itu dia bisa berdamai dengan kehidupan dirinya sendiri, dan orang-orang di sekitarnya. Keywords: Makna, struktural, psikoanalisis

Abstract

Abstract. This project aims to design a digital pocketbook containing essential vocabulary and practical phrases in Mandarin to assist Indonesian tourists and tourism workers in effectively communicating during their stay in China. The digital pocketbook features categorized expressions tailored to common travel situations, such as interactions at airports, using public transportation, visiting tourist destinations, or ordering food at restaurants. Each phrase is presented in both Mandarin and Indonesian, making it accessible and practical for users regardless of their language proficiency. Additionally, the pocketbook is enriched with visual elements, such as icons and illustrations, to support non-verbal communication and facilitate easier understanding in real-life interactions. Through this participation, students gain hands-on experience in language application, digital media design, and intercultural communication practices. The integration of language education with real-world application not only supports community empowerment in tourism but also enhances the students' academic and professional development in linguistics and digital literacy. Ultimately, this project contributes to fostering cross-cultural communication and improving the quality of tourism experiences for Indonesian travelers in China.Keywords: Digital pocketbook, Mandarin language, Indonesian tourists, cross-cultural communication, Chinese tourism, community service

Abstract

Perkembangan kecerdasan buatan (Artificial Intelligence/AI) telah membawa transformasi signifikan dalam digitalisasi pendidikan. AI menawarkan solusi inovatif dalam pembelajaran, seperti sistem pembelajaran adaptif, chatbot edukatif, serta analisis data yang membantu pengambilan keputusan akademik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meninjau secara sistematis tren utama dalam pemanfaatan AI di pendidikan, mengidentifikasi tantangan implementasinya, serta mengeksplorasi rekomendasi pengembangan kebijakan dan praktik terbaik dalam integrasi AI di lingkungan pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pendekatan studi pustaka untuk memberikan gambaran menyeluruh tentang penerapan kecerdasan buatan dalam pendidikan Indonesia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa AI memberikan berbagai manfaat dalam pendidikan, termasuk peningkatan personalisasi pembelajaran, efisiensi administrasi, dan dukungan bagi siswa berkebutuhan khusus. Namun, implementasi AI juga menghadapi tantangan, seperti keterbatasan infrastruktur, kesiapan pendidik dan siswa, serta isu privasi data dan etika penggunaan AI dalam pembelajaran. Sebagai langkah mitigasi, penelitian ini merekomendasikan penguatan kebijakan dan regulasi yang mengatur penggunaan AI dalam pendidikan, peningkatan pelatihan bagi pendidik untuk mengoptimalkan AI dalam pengajaran, serta kolaborasi antara institusi pendidikan dan industri teknologi untuk mengembangkan solusi berbasis AI yang lebih efektif.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain data on the improvement of Mandarin character writing skills of students using the spaced repetition method. The subjects of this study were 29 students from the 5th grade at Zion Elementary School GKKA-UP Makassar. This research is a classroom action study consisting of two cycles. The data in this study are of two types: qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative data were obtained through observation, while quantitative data were obtained from writing skill tests in Cycle I and Cycle II. The results of the study showed that students' Mandarin character writing skills had an average score of 75 in Cycle I, categorized as fair, and improved in Cycle II with an average score of 85, categorized as good. These results indicate that the application of the spaced repetition method can improve the Mandarin character writing skills of 5th grade students at Zion Elementary School GKKA-UP Makassar.

Abstract

 Affixes are linguistic units of derivational morphology in Chinese and Indonesian. In bothlanguages, the affix is attached to the root morpheme as an additional morpheme to produce a newword. The phenomenon of affixation in both languages is unique and worth studying. This paper ismeant to make it relatively easy for students to learn Chinese and Indonesian affixal derivationalword formation. This study adopts the literature research method to analyse the grammatical meaningand affixation forms of constituent nouns in both languages. Similarities were found in both Chineseand Indonesian, where root morphemes can be combined with different affixes (morphemes) fordifferent word classes to produce new words. The affixes used to form new words in Chinese aremuch less abundant than in Indonesian, and the differences between the two languages can be seenin the number of affixes, the corresponding word formation results, and the grammatical meanings.The study of these affix differences can identify patterns, deepen the understanding of learningbetween Chinese and Indonesian, improve the quality of translation between Chinese and Indonesian,and hopefully contribute to the learning and teaching of Chinese and Indonesian.Keywords: Chinese and Indonesian; affixes; comparative analysis

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the extent to which Case-Based Learning (CBL) plays a role in developing critical thinking skills of students of the Chinese Language Education Study Program. Critical thinking skills are seen as one of the main competencies in 21st-century higher education, especially in foreign language learning which requires students not only to master linguistic aspects, but also to understand the socio-cultural context. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group pattern involving 40 students in the odd semester of 2024/2025, consisting of 20 experimental group students taught with CBL and 20 control group students taught by conventional methods in the form of lectures and practice questions. The research instrument is in the form of a critical thinking essay test based on the California Critical Thinking Skills Test (CCTST) indicator, which is validated by experts and tested for reliability. Pretest and posttest results data were analyzed using normalized gain (N-gain) scores to assess learning effectiveness. The results showed that the experimental group obtained an average N-gain of 0.763 (high category) with a range of 0.54–1.00, while the control group only achieved an average N-gain of 0.45 (medium category) with a range of 0.23–0.80. These differences in achievement confirm that CBL is more effective than conventional methods in improving students' ability to analyze, evaluate, and interpret. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of CBL makes a significant contribution to the development of students' critical thinking skills, as it encourages them to connect theory with practice through authentic case analysis. These findings recommend that CBL be systematically integrated into the Chinese language learning curriculum to produce graduates who are critical, reflective and adaptive in the face of global challenges.
