Abstract

Background : Endometriosis is usually found in intrapelvic structures such as the ovaries, peritoneum, gynecological organs and the pouch of Douglas. We report an unusual case of endometriosis in the  right  inguinal region. Cases : A 36-year-old woman with a history of laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis 4 years ago complained of catamenial pain and a mass in the  right  inguinal region, and her symptoms fluctuated with the menstrual cycle. An indistinct firm mass palpable in the  right  inguinal region. Ultrasound examination revealed a 2 × 1 cm mass in front of the pubic area on the lower edge of the rectus abdominis muscle. In a patient with an inguinal subcutaneous mass who complains of periodic changes in symptoms, endometriosis should be considered in the differential diagnosis. Conclusion : The low incidence of inguinal endometriosis is one of the considerations in the different diagnosis of painful inguinal hernias in the inguinal area in women with childbearing age. The diagnosis of endometriosis can be demonstrated clearly on High-Definition Ultrasound by trained personnel. Surgery is the optional treatment and is curative in this case.

Abstract

The hospital staff's non-compliance in managing hazardous waste can hurt the environment and public health. There are various practicals to mitigate the harmful effects of hazardous medical waste on the environment and public health. However, there needs to be evidence to provide accurate data regarding compliance with hazardous waste management at hospitals in Indonesia. This study aims to assess and map the determinants affecting hospital liquid medical waste management. This study examined electronic databases from 2017-2023. Studies were screened based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The study was grounded in the scoping review to inform compliance factors regarding waste management in Hospitals. One article describes compliance with the regulation, and the other concerns supervising hospital waste management. Those articles are not detailed enough in describing supervision, so we suggest further research about supervision support to foster the management process and the result of hospital waste management. Regulation is essential for all processes and products that affect the environment. Compliance with guidelines needs to become a habit and improve over time.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to determine the baseline prevalence and association between blood pressure and cholesterol examination. Method: This preliminary study used a cross-sectional design to analyze the secondary blood pressure and cholesterol levels data in the Sampangan sub-district, Semarang City. The total sampling technique covered those enrolled in the metabolic syndrome screening from January to April 2023. The logistic regression test was used in data analysis. Results: 58 respondents took blood pressure checks, while only 40 had cholesterol checks. The probability of males getting changes in cholesterol levels was higher than that of females (OR = 8.69; p-value = 0.01). However, neither (female nor male) had a significant relationship, and there was no difference in the chances of changes in blood pressure (OR = 1.43; p = 0.72). Respondents above 60 years had a significant association with changes in blood pressure compared to those under 60 years (OR = 0.09; p = 0.007). Conclusion: This study revealed males of a certain age experience higher changes in cholesterol levels compared to females. People over 60 years old tend to have higher blood pressure compared to those under 60 years old. These findings propose an outreach strategy for health screening for patients with limited mobility, transportation access, and finances for routine checkups at public or government healthcare facilities.
