Abstract

Abstract

Polypharmacy is still frequent and very common in pediatric prescribing. Polypharmacy can increase the potential for drug interactions. Most of which have a detrimental impact on patient therapy. Drug interactions are considered clinically important when they result in increased toxicity or reduced therapeutic effectiveness. This study aims to determine the relationship between polypharmacy and the potential for drug interactions in the prescription of pediatric patients at Bukit Sari Pharmacy Semarang for the 2021 period. This research is a type of quantitative descriptive analysis research. Research data were obtained retrospectively in the period January - December 2021 which is based on the prescription data of pediatric patients at Bukit Sari Pharmacy Semarang for the 2021 period. The sampling technique used proportional random sampling method where samples were taken from pediatric patient prescriptions that met the inclusion criteria. Of the 270 prescription sheets analyzed, 160 prescription sheets experienced polypharmacy. Percentage of drug interaction events drug interaction was 36.7%. Statistical analysis using the Spearmans Test obtained a p value

Abstract

Clinics as health care facilities also play a role in promotive and preventive. Scabies is an infectious skin disease caused by Sarcoptes scabei variant hominis which can be transmitted through direct human contact. This study aims to determine the effect of knowledge level and public health status to change patient behavior to live clean and healthy with behavioral change analysis of scabies rates in all branches of Kinik Derma Central Java. This type of research is observational with cross sectional design, purposive sampling technique. The population is all patients who come to the Derma clinic with a diagnosis of scabies in the January-April 2021 period. This research instrument uses a questionnaire sheet with the application of behavioral change measurement indicators, while for the diagnosis of scabies using the results of medical examination records. Data presentation is presented in the form of Histograms and percentages. The average knowledge of people with scabies answering about scabies disease is 78.02% answering correctly and for the average healthy and clean behavior (personal hygine) is 70.20%. Providing health promotion for the application of behavioral change methods used health promotion by providing brochures and IEC (Information Communication and Education) at the time of drug collection. When waiting for the medicine, it is also expected to see video shows on the Derma Clinic television screen. After a period of 2 months from the initial findings, the number of patients with scabies in all branches of Derma Clinic Central Java decreased by 24 patients or 20% of the number of patients at the beginning of the study.

Abstract

Plant inventory is an activity aimed at documenting and classifying plant species within a specific area. This study investigated the utilization of traditional medicines in the Lengger District, Tuvan Province, focusing on the types of medicinal plants, their properties, uses, and the specific plant parts employed. A qualitative descriptive method was applied, and data were collected through observations and interviews. The sampling technique followed a snowball sampling approach, where key informants were identified based on predefined criteria, and additional informants were selected through recommendations. The findings revealed that the community in the Lengger District utilizes 54 types of medicinal plants for traditional healing practices. The conclusion of this research is that preserving traditional medicinal knowledge is very important to prevent the loss of information about the benefits and uses of medicinal plants that have been passed down from generation to generation. Further research is needed to reveal the bioactive content, effectiveness, and safety of medicinal plants so that they can be developed into scientifically based therapies. Given the community's dependence on medicinal plants, conservation efforts through sustainable cultivation and protection of natural habitats must be implemented to ensure their availability in the future and maintain ecosystem balance. Abstract

The antioxidant properties of natural compounds have garnered significant attention for their potential therapeutic applications. Solanum ferox, a plant traditionally used in several countries for medicinal purposes, has been identified as possessing potential antioxidant properties. However, the extent and efficacy of its antioxidant capacity have not been thoroughly examined, creating a gap in understanding its effectiveness compared to established antioxidants like ascorbic acid. This study aims to evaluate the antioxidant capacity of Solanum ferox using DPPH and FRAP assays across concentrations ranging from 20 to 100 µg/µl, with ascorbic acid serving as a standard reference. The DPPH assay measured the scavenging activity of both samples to assess their radical-quenching properties, while the FRAP assay evaluated their reducing power. Findings indicate that ascorbic acid exhibits significantly higher scavenging activity than Solanum ferox across all concentrations, with consistent activity ranging between 88.4% and 90.88% in the DPPH assay and from 45.16% to 83.89% in the FRAP assay. In contrast, Solanum ferox shows a gradual but much lower increase in activity, from 6.8% to 35.5% in the DPPH assay and from 10.59% to 33.82% in the FRAP assay, suggesting limited antioxidant potential. The study contributes to the understanding of the antioxidant properties of Solanum ferox, highlighting its limited efficacy compared to ascorbic acid and suggesting that further research is needed to explore its potential at higher concentrations or through alternative methods. These insights provide a foundational basis for future studies investigating Solanum ferox as a potential natural antioxidant source.
