Abstract

Abstract

Lip cream is a cosmetic product with a creamy texture that provides long-lasting color for the lips. One of the cosmetic colorants often misused as a lip colorant is Rhodamine B, which is supposed to be used for textile coloring. Rhodamine B may cause irritation, is carcinogenic, and can even cause liver damage in high concentrations. This study aims to determine whether lip creams sold in marketplaces contain Rhodamine B and measure the concentration of Rhodamine B in these products. Qualitative analysis of the Rhodamine B content in lip cream was carried out using the thin layer chromatography (TLC) method with the stationary phase silica gel GF254 and the mobile phase n-butanol: ethyl acetate: 25% ammonia with a ratio of 10:4:5. Of the 5 samples that were qualitatively analyzed using TLC, 3 samples were positive for containing rhodamine B, samples number 1, 2, and 3. Quantitative analysis was conducted to determine Rhodamine B concentrate using the spectrophotometry UV-Vis method with a maximum wavelength of 546 nm. The results of assay determination showed that the average concentration containing rhodamine B was 0.044% in sample number 1, 0.060% in sample number 2, and 0.052% in sample number 3.

Abstract

Traditional treatment remains one of the widely used treatment methods to this day. One of the plants with potential as conventional medicine is the Ketapang leaf (Terminalia catappa L), which belongs to the Combretaceae family. Ketapang leaves contain various compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, and saponins, with flavonoids known for their high antioxidant properties. This study aims to compare the total flavonoid content in fresh and dried Ketapang leaf extracts. The extraction method used is maceration with 96% ethanol solvent. Evaluation includes organoleptic tests, moisture content, drying shrinkage, phytochemical screening, and thin-layer chromatography (TLC). Total flavonoid content testing is conducted using the colorimetric method with UV-Vis spectrophotometry at a wavelength of 430 nm, with quercetin as the standard. The results show that the yield of fresh Ketapang leaves was 8.74% w/w, while dried Ketapang leaves were 8.40% w/w. In the TLC tested, the Rf values of fresh and dried Ketapang leaf extracts were 0.95 and 0.94, respectively. The total flavonoid content in fresh Ketapang leaf extract was 24.19 mgQE/gram, while for dried Ketapang leaf extract it was 16.84 mgQE/gram. Statistical analysis with an independent sample t-test showed a significant difference (p<0.05) between fresh and dried Ketapang leaf extracts.

Abstract

Polypharmacy is still frequent and very common in pediatric prescribing. Polypharmacy can increase the potential for drug interactions. Most of which have a detrimental impact on patient therapy. Drug interactions are considered clinically important when they result in increased toxicity or reduced therapeutic effectiveness. This study aims to determine the relationship between polypharmacy and the potential for drug interactions in the prescription of pediatric patients at Bukit Sari Pharmacy Semarang for the 2021 period. This research is a type of quantitative descriptive analysis research. Research data were obtained retrospectively in the period January - December 2021 which is based on the prescription data of pediatric patients at Bukit Sari Pharmacy Semarang for the 2021 period. The sampling technique used proportional random sampling method where samples were taken from pediatric patient prescriptions that met the inclusion criteria. Of the 270 prescription sheets analyzed, 160 prescription sheets experienced polypharmacy. Percentage of drug interaction events drug interaction was 36.7%. Statistical analysis using the Spearmans Test obtained a p value

Abstract

The soursop leaves (Annona muricata L.) are one of the plants containing acetogenins compounds and some alkaloids muricolin, cauxine, couclamine, stepharine and reticulin. These compounds are able to act as antibacterial causes of acne namely Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus aureus. The extraction of soursop leaves is obtained by extracting the leaves of the shingle using the maseration method. The extract is formulated into a gel set with a difference in HPMC base concentration(Hydroxy Propyl Methyl Cellulose). The use of different HPMC concentrations aims to know the base concentration of HPMC there are differences or not in the gel ready ethanol extract of the shingle leaves. Physical stability testing conducted includes organoleptic, homogeneity, protection power, scatter power, lystuff, pH and viscosity with storage room temperature of 25ºC - 30ºC for 4 weeks. The results of the gel-ready physical stability study at room temperature storage of 25ºC - 30ºC for 4 weeks showed stable results for organoleptic testing, homogeneity, protection power, scattering power, pH and 2% thness at HPMC concentrations, while unstable results in viscosity tests.
