Abstract

Abstract

Hypertension is a problem of cardiovascular disease that occurs in many people. The leaves of matoa, which have another name, Pometia pinnata, are one of the plants used as traditional medicine for the treatment of hypertension. The active compounds of matoa leaves are flavonoids. This study aimed to observe the hypertension profile of the Angiotensin Receptor Blocker class. The test animals used in this study were 45 male Wistar rats. Each group consisted of 5 rats induced by angiotensin II, divided into groups, namely normal control, negative control, positive control, a dose of 75g/kgBW, 150g/kgBW, and 300g/kgBW, and observation were done for 14 days. The hypertension profile observed in this study was the blood volume of rats. The percentage reduction in blood volume of rats given the best matoa leaves extract was 300 mg/kgBW, extract which showed mean difference in negative control group with a significance value of <0.05

Abstract

Abstract

Free radicals can cause various diseases in the body if not treated immediately. Large levels of free radicals may trigger damage to normally functioning tissues, lipid layers, blood vessels, DNA synthesis disturbances, and even destruction of cells. The objective is to evaluate the antioxidants potential of dayak onion extract and fractions. FTIR spectrophotometers, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and an antioxidants multimode reader are some of the research methods. The outcomes of this research are identifying plants that showed the dayak onion extract of the species Eleutherine Americana Merr. It contains compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, and saponins. In addition, the components found in the extract, water fraction, ethyl acetate fraction, and n-hexane fraction are octadecanoic acid 298 m/z, 9-octadecanoic acid 282 m/z, undecanoic acid 214 m/z, hexadecanoic acid 368 m/z, and nonadecanoic acid 326 m/z. Therefore, the antioxidants test using the DPPH method showed that the best IC50 value is for ethyl acetate with IC50 20.56 ppm.

Abstract

Plant inventory is an activity aimed at documenting and classifying plant species within a specific area. This study investigated the utilization of traditional medicines in the Lengger District, Tuvan Province, focusing on the types of medicinal plants, their properties, uses, and the specific plant parts employed. A qualitative descriptive method was applied, and data were collected through observations and interviews. The sampling technique followed a snowball sampling approach, where key informants were identified based on predefined criteria, and additional informants were selected through recommendations. The findings revealed that the community in the Lengger District utilizes 54 types of medicinal plants for traditional healing practices. The conclusion of this research is that preserving traditional medicinal knowledge is very important to prevent the loss of information about the benefits and uses of medicinal plants that have been passed down from generation to generation. Further research is needed to reveal the bioactive content, effectiveness, and safety of medicinal plants so that they can be developed into scientifically based therapies. Given the community's dependence on medicinal plants, conservation efforts through sustainable cultivation and protection of natural habitats must be implemented to ensure their availability in the future and maintain ecosystem balance. Abstract

Background: The first of the cardiovascular diseases that may turn deadly is hypertension, which has elevated blood pressure. The causes of hypertension, which causes an average rise of 140/90 mmHg, are based on epidemiological factors such as stroke, heart failure, myocardial infarction, arterial fibrillation, and peripheral artery disease. Hypertension is also known as the silent killer. Objective: Known histopathology in kidney cells and avocado leaf compounds that could potentially inhibit hypertension. Methods: Methods that can be used in histopathological testing with hematoxylin and eosin (HE) dying and compound determination by analysis Gas Chromatography-Spectrometry Mass (GC-MS) Results: The study obtained GC-MS (Gas Chromatography-Spectrometry Mass) analysis results at an area of 36.50%, molecular weight 17,03 with 9-Octadecenoic acid compounds, and an area of 10,18%, molécular weight 2,54 with a compound of 9-Oktadecenosic acid (z)-methyl esters (CAS). An extract of 250 mg/kgBW has a slightly low renal cell damage value (138), and an effective avocado leaf fraction test is ethanol acetate 250 mg/kgBW, with a small renal cell damage value (146), where as a negative control has a high renal cell damage value (189).
