Abstract

The transformation of media and communication in the digital era has reshaped how people interact, share information, and build social relationships. The digitalization of communication not only introduces new platforms such as social media and the internet of things (IoT) but also impacts communication culture and social relationship patterns within society. This study aims to examine the dynamics of communication theory in the context of digitalization, understand how these concepts adapt, and explain their impact on social and cultural life. The research method used is a literature review, analyzing internationally indexed journals, along with relevant national journals. The findings indicate that digitalization encourages faster interactions and wider access to information but also presents challenges, such as discrepancies between online and real identities and the erosion of local cultural values. In conclusion, a critical understanding of the dynamics of communication theory in the digital era is essential to harness this transformation positively without overlooking existing social and cultural values.

Abstract

In the digital era, social media has become a primary source of public opinion data that can be analyzed using artificial intelligence (AI). The utilization of AI, particularly in digital content analysis, enables researchers to extract information from social media comments more efficiently than conventional methods. This study aims to explore how AI is used in digital content analysis to understand communication patterns, sentiment, and discourse development on social media. The research employs a systematic analysis based on the PRISMA approach, filtering literature from academic databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. Additionally, this study analyzes social media comments using AI-based software, such as NVivo and other NLP tools. The findings reveal that AI enhances efficiency and accuracy in sentiment analysis, reduces subjective bias, and enables deeper insights into public opinion. However, key challenges identified include dataset bias and the interpretability of AI models. Therefore, the combination of Explainable AI and a multimodal approach in the future is expected to improve the effectiveness of AI-based sentiment analysis in digital communication.

Abstract

This study aims to understand how sensemaking operates within the leadership communication practices of neighborhood leaders (RT heads) in maintaining environmental security in Ketapang Subdistrict, Tangerang City. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with two RT heads actively involved in community security efforts. Thematic analysis was conducted using NVivo software to map communication patterns and the formation of social values. The findings reveal that RT heads construct sensemaking by framing security threats based on their contextual realities, ranging from social issues like drug abuse to structural challenges such as inadequate public facilities. These interpretations inform the communication strategies and channels, including digital tools and face-to-face engagement. Furthermore, participatory decision-making processes produce technical responses and cultivate social values such as collective responsibility, information ethics, and anti-vigilantism. This study contributes to developing sensemaking theory in community leadership contexts and offers practical recommendations for local leaders in building participatory, value-based security systems. The research emphasizes the importance of contextual, inclusive, and ethical leadership communication in strengthening social cohesion and resilience at the grassroots level.

Against the backdrop of technological advancements, preaching is no longer confined to conventional methods but has evolved into multi-directional communication that is more interactive and responsive. Preachers now adopt various strategies to enhance the effectiveness of preaching in the digital world. The research results highlight the shift in preaching communication styles from traditional lectures to utilizing social media, video platforms, and instant messaging applications. Prominent preachers in Indonesia, such as Abdul Somad, Adi Hidayat, and Khalid Basalamah, serve as successful examples in reaching audiences through digital channels. Various strategies for enhancing preaching in the digital era are identified, including mastering various digital platforms, developing storytelling skills, understanding online audience trends and habits, collaborating with digital content creators, implementing interactive technology, optimizing search and online visibility, and maintaining branding and messaging consistency. In conclusion, the utilization of digital technology can create preaching content that is more dynamic, relevant, and easily accessible to audiences increasingly connected through technology.
