Abstract

Anemia in pregnant women is still a global problem, almost half of all pregnant women throughout the world experience anemia. Ummi Hani Mother and Children Hospital is one of the referral hospitals for mothers and children in Purbalingga that provides the antenatal care service. This research aimed to identify the determinants of anemia in pregnant women at Ummi Hani Mother and Children Hospital, Purbalingga. This research was an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design. The total sample was 100 pregnant women. Data sources were obtained from medical records, parturition registers, and cohorts of pregnant women at Ummi Hani Mother and Children Hospital. Primary data collection used a structured questionnaire. Bivariate analysis used chi square and/or Fisher exact, and multivariate analysis used logistic regression. This research found that 51% of pregnant women suffered from anemia. The results of multivariate analysis showed that educational level (p value=0.002; OR=5.07; 95% CI=1.79-14.37) and employment status (p value=0.045; OR=2.73; 95% CI=1.02-7.29) were determinants of anemia in pregnant women. This research highlights importance of improving health promotion regarding dangers of anemia and prevention measures such as consuming nutritious and varied foods at affordable prices which is focused on groups of low-educated and unemployed pregnant women.

Abstract

The first year of life is a crucial phase in a child’s growth and development, where proper nutrition and sensory stimulation significantly influence physical outcomes, such as weight gain. Infant massage is one of the tactile stimulations that can help improve weight and overall well-being. This study aims to examine and compare the effects of Tuina massage and Johnson's massage on the weight gain of infants aged 0–12 months at the Patia Public Health Center, Pandeglang, in 2025. A quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach was employed. Thirty infants were selected using purposive sampling and divided into two intervention groups, with 15 infants receiving Tuina massage and 15 receiving Johnson's massage. The massages were conducted three times over a two-week period. Data were collected using observation sheets and body weight measurements before and after the intervention. The results revealed that both massage techniques significantly increased infant weight. Infants who received Tuina massage experienced an average weight increase from 5.607 kg to 6.687 kg, while those who received Johnson’s massage increased from 4.840 kg to 5.933 kg. Statistical analysis using the Paired Sample T-Test showed a significant difference between the two methods (p = 0.025), indicating that Tuina massage was more effective. In conclusion, both Tuina and Johnson's massage positively affect infant weight gain, with Tuina showing greater efficacy in promoting infant growth.

The purpose of this activity is to add information and strengthen mother's knowledge in understanding stunting, prevention and how to provide proper feeding patterns to children. In addition, it equips mothers with skills and motivates them to process healthy fishbased food into delicious, healthy and of course nutritious catfish nuggets in a way that is easy to do through cooking classes. This was done by looking at the phenomenon of the problem from the results of the research conducted which found field data that the incidence of stunting in children in Margaluyu Village, the Working Area of the Kasemen Health Center has increased every year. This activity was attended by 17 mothers and toddlers in one of the village cadres' houses. The stages of the activities carried out in the education class were in the form of giving questionnaires to explore the mother's knowledge and feeding patterns (pre-test), then measuring the growth curve with a microtoise and checking the development of toddlers using the KPSP. Followed by giving material for 25 minutes and a question and answer process and evaluation. The second stage was carried out 1 week later with a series of activities in the form of a cooking class for processed MPASI side dishes in the form of catfish nuggets by conducting direct demonstrations to mothers with stunting toddlers who previously carried out a post test first with the same questionnaire. The evaluation stage is by conducting follow-up through village cadres regarding knowledge and patterns of feeding to mothers whether there have been changes, mothers' ability to make processed catfish nuggets independently at their respective homes and given them routinely to children. The final stage is to carry out follow-up which is still ongoing regarding the improvement of the child's growth curve measured for 3 months.
