Abstract

AbstractAs the requirement of English mastery becomes rapidly high in this globalization era, an English teacher plays the first role in students’ learning development because in a country whose English as a foreign language become the essential source of language input. Meanwhile, ELF as the development of English which emerge in South-East Asia may help the EFL teachers in delivering their teaching learning material in EFL classroom. As for how the EFL teachers’ perceptions about the emerge ELF recently, this study aims to investigate Indonesia EFL Teachers’ perceptions about teaching English as Lingua Franca. By conducting a survey study, the researcher gained the EFL teachers’ perceptions about teaching English as Lingua Franca. The questionnaire as the source of data in this study was distributing to 15 EFL teachers in the city of Tulungagung. The researcher also doing an interview with three of those teachers. Most of EFL teachers’ who participated in this study have less knowledge about ELF, but more than half of them agreed with the statement given that clarify as ELF. The participants also see ELF as an interesting development of English to bring a new performance in their teaching learning classrooms.Keywords: EFL teachers, perceptions, ELF.

Abstract

Pendidikan erat kaitannya dengan kegiatan belajar mengajar hal ini biasa dilakukan di sekolah. pendidikan merupakan suatu proses pengalaman yang dapat membentuk pertumbuhan siswa sesuai dengan kebutuhan dan kemampuannya masing-masing. Di dalam pendidikan pasti adanya peran utama yaitu siswa. Siswa bisa disebut sebagai pelajar. Melalui pendidikan formal ini peserta dituntut untuk menguasai berbagai ilmu pengetahuan yang bisa mengasah aspek kognitif, psikomotrik dan afektif. Jurnal ini bertujuan untuk untuk mengamati dan mendeskripsikan pelaksanaan metode tutor sebaya untuk meningkatan keterampilan menyanyikan lagu daerah dan untuk melihat berhasil atau tidaknya penerapan metode pree tutor terhadap peningkatan keterampilan menyanyikan lagu daerah. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang terdiri dari dua siklus. Tiap siklus meliputi perencanaan, tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Tempat penelitian adalah SD Negeri 2 Srandakan. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa siswi kelas V SD Negeri 2 Srandakan yang berjumlah 20 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara dokumentasi, observasi dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan model tutor sebaya dalam pembelajaran seni musik di kelas V SD Negeri 2 Srandakan berhasil dan meningkatkan keterampilan siswa dalam bernyanyi “Gethuk”. Siswa yang masih lemah dalam penguasaan materi pada siklus 1 dapat dilanjutkan pada siklus kedua yaitu dengan penguatan penguasaan teknis terhadap lagu dan ekspresi dinamis dengan penguatan melalui pemutaran audio visual lagu “Gethuk”. Dengan demikian, proses pembelajaran yang dilaksanakan pada siklus 2 Menyatakan tingkat keberhasilan.

Abstract

Kajian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan strategi pembelajaran yang bisa diterapkan guru sebagai upaya memberikan pembelajaran kepada siswa dengan karakteristik lamban belajar. Pembahasan pada artikel ini merupakan hasil dari kajian Pustaka dengan riset kepustakaan melalui jurnal-jurnal nasional terakreditasi, studi buku referensi perpustakaan, serta observasi di beberapa Sekolah Dasar. Abstract

This observational research, which focuses on teacher tactics for teaching English as a Foreign Language to primary school kids, was carried out in two classes at a public primary school. The purpose of this study was to answer the following question: what teaching tactics do the English instructors at this school use? The data were analyzed qualitatively using categories formulated based on theories related to instructional strategies, which include planning and preparing instruction, implementing the teaching and learning process, and assessing students' achievement. The study's primary findings are as follows: 1) Despite the teachers going through the same phases of preparation, the plan is followed and results differ; 2) the teachers can employ games as a learning tool. 3) even though the curriculum demands teachers to integrate the skills (reading, listening, writing, and speaking), in practice, teachers do not teach English in an integrative manner. 4) Time management has become a challenge for teachers at this school. 5) In terms of teacher assessment methodologies, the teachers examine students' success through remedial instruction once a week after the session is ended in areas where students failed to grasp.

Abstract

Reading fluency is an essential skill for academic achievement. Fluent readers are able to swiftly and accurately comprehend written information, allowing them to focus on the meaning and implications of what they are reading. This paper investigates the relationship between reading fluency and academic outcomes, including reading comprehension, writing and vocabulary. The study seeks to examine the nature of this relationship, how reading fluency influences specific areas of academic achievements, and whether individual differences, such as age or reading aptitude, moderate this relationship. Fifteen students from the fourth semester of the English Department at Universitas Nusa Cendana were recruited for this study, and a longitudinal design was used to investigate the relationship between reading fluency and academic achievement. The results indicate that reading fluency is positively related to reading comprehension, writing and vocabulary knowledge. Individual differences in age and reading aptitude also appear to mitigate the relationship between reading fluency and academic achievement.

Abstract

Lemahnya kemampuan berpikir kreatif mahasiswa terhadap pembelajaran pada Mata Kuliah Pengantar Pendidikan ditunjukan dengan kurangnya interaktif saat pembelajaran serta kurangnya kreatif dalam memberi contoh-contoh penyelesaian terhadap materi pembelajaran. Kemampuan berpikir kreatif mahasiswa dapat ditingkatkan melalui penerapan model pembelajaran problem based learning (PBL). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kreatif mahasiswa melalui model pembelajaran problem based learning (PBL). Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dengan 2 siklus. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa kelas B Prodi Pendidikan Biologi dan mahasiswa kelas B Prodi Bahasa Inggris Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Nusa Cendana Tahun Akademik 2022/2023 dengan jumlah 40 orang. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan berupa lembar observasi, lembar kuisioner, tes tertulis, dan dokumentasi. Prosedur penelitian ini menggunakan analisis data deskriptif kuantitatif. Berdasarkan Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan berpikir kreatif pada siklus I sebesar 77.25% dan siklus II sebesar 85.87% maka peningkatan sebesar 8,62%. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kreatif mahasiswa Prodi Pendidikan Biologi dan Prodi Bahasa Inggris Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Nusa Cendana meningkat karena penerapan model pembelajaran problem based learning (PBL).

Abstract

Meanwhile, ELF as an English development emerging in South-East Asia may assist EFL teachers in presenting their teaching learning content in EFL classrooms. This study intends to analyze Indonesia EFL instructors' attitudes regarding teaching English as a Lingua Franca, as well as how EFL instructors' perceptions about the emerging ELF have lately changed. The researcher obtained the perspectives of EFL teachers about teaching English as a Lingua Franca through a survey study. The questionnaire, which served as the study's data source, was distributed to 15 EFL teachers in Tulungagung. The researcher also interviewed some of those teachers. The majority of EFL teachers who participated in this study had little knowledge of ELF, although more than half agreed with the statement that defined ELF. Participants regard ELF as an exciting evolution of English that will bring a new performance to their teaching and learning classrooms.

Abstract

This Community Service aims to provide in-depth insight into the principles of the Merdeka Curriculum, as well as provide practical skills to teachers in designing and delivering learning that can be tailored to the needs and abilities of each student so that they are able to compile Differentiated Learning teaching modules. This training took place at SD Inpres Lasiana, Kupang City. There were 24 participants, who were representatives from schools in Kupang City. The methods used in this activity were discussion, question and answer, assignment, simulation and demonstration. The result of this activity is that teachers are able to develop differentiated learning designs (Differentiated Teaching Modules) and demonstrate these designs. Through this activity, teachers gain direct experience related to the implementation of differentiated learning in strengthening the implementation of the independent curriculum in elementary schools. Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum promotes a flexible, student-centered, and contextually grounded approach to learning, requiring educators to adapt their teaching strategies accordingly. English teachers, in particular, often encounter challenges in translating these principles into practical and effective learning modules. To address this gap, a workshop was conducted with the aim of enhancing participants' competence in developing English teaching modules that are both competency-based and aligned with the core values of the Merdeka Curriculum. The workshop engaged 120 students from the English Education Study Program, specifically those in their fifth semester, as prospective educators who will soon enter the teaching profession. Activities during the workshop included presentations, group discussions, and hands-on module design tasks. Evaluation methods involved pre- and post-workshop questionnaires to assess participants’ understanding and improvement in module development skills. The results indicated a significant increase in participants' ability to conceptualize, structure, and design interactive modules that incorporate the Merdeka Curriculum’s emphasis on autonomy, relevance, and learner engagement. In conclusion, the workshop successfully equipped future English teachers with practical tools and pedagogical strategies to develop effective teaching materials, thereby supporting the broader goals of educational reform in Indonesia.

Abstract

Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat yang dilaksanakan oleh tim dosen Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Nusa Cendana bertujuan untuk memfasilitasi pengalaman pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris yang bermakna dan relevan secara budaya melalui integrasi kearifan lokal. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dirancang untuk membantu siswa menghubungkan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dengan identitas budaya, nilai-nilai, dan konteks lokal mereka. Kegiatan yang dilakukan meliputi sesi kelas interaktif, dan kegiatan pembelajaran berpusat pada siswa yang mengintegrasikan cerita rakyat lokal dari NTT sebagai bahan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Pelaksanaan program ini mengikuti pendekatan partisipatif, memungkinkan guru dan siswa berkolaborasi dalam mengembangkan praktik pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris yang kreatif dan berbasis konteks. Pengamatan dan refleksi selama kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa siswa menunjukkan antusiasme, kepercayaan diri, dan pemahaman yang lebih besar ketika bahan pembelajaran terkait dengan lingkungan budaya mereka. Selain itu pendekatan ini juga mendorong pengembangan karakter, pemikiran kritis, dan apresiasi terhadap warisan budaya lokal. Meskipun menghadapi tantangan seperti kebutuhan adaptasi materi, integrasi kearifan lokal terbukti menjadi strategi efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan Bahasa Inggris dan kesadaran budaya siswa. Kegiatan pengabdian ini menyoroti pentingnya pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris yang kontekstual di Indonesia dan memberikan wawasan bagi pendidik yang ingin menyeimbangkan pembelajaran bahasa global dengan nilai-nilai lokal dalam konteks budaya yang beragam.
