Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis which still affects many Indonesians and causes death. Currently, many people are resistant to treating tuberculosis using synthetic chemicals, so many sufferers find it difficult to recover, while the discovery of new drugs is still rare, therefore we need drugs made from natural ingredients that have been used by the community to treat coughs with phlegm and blood, which is one of the Symptoms of tuberculosis include rimbang leaves (Solanum torvum Sw.). Therefore, researchers conducted antituberculosis potential tests with rimbang leaf extract (Solanum torvum Sw.) with the aim of obtaining alternative medicines from plants that are rational, safe, cheap and easy to obtain. The extract was made by percolation using n-hexane followed by ethanol fractionation, then a phytochemical screening test was carried out on fresh leaves, simplicia, ethanol extract and n-hexane extract. The antituberculosis test of n-hexane extract and ethanol extract was carried out on Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria using the Lowenstein-Jensen method using patient sputum which was first identified using Ziehl Nielsen staining. The results of the phytochemical screening test showed that the chemical compound groups in fresh leaves, simplicia, ethanol extract and n-hexane extract, namely ethanol extract, were positive for alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, saponins, steroids/triterpenoids. and tannins while the n-hexane extract was positive for glycosides and steroids/triterpenoids. The antituberculosis effectiveness of ethanol extract is stronger than n-hexane extract, because in the 1st week and 2nd week the ethanol extract was able to inhibit the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, while the n-hexane extract from the 1st to the 4th week did not inhibit the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis at all.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the empowerment of science extracurricular programs as a strategy to improve student achievement in Islamic elementary schools. A descriptive qualitative method was used, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects included upper-grade students, science club mentors, and school administrators. Findings reveal that well-structured science extracurricular activities significantly increase students’ interest and motivation in learning science. Activities such as simple experiments, group discussions, and science competitions help students develop critical thinking skills, curiosity, and teamwork. These programs not only improve academic outcomes, particularly in science subjects, but also foster essential character values like discipline, responsibility, and self-confidence. The study concludes that empowering science-based extracurricular activities can be an effective approach to enhancing the academic and personal growth of students. Schools are encouraged to provide sustainable support and innovation in extracurricular planning to ensure long-term educational benefits

Abstract

Sebagian besar kegiatan sehari-hari masyarakat di Desa Cinta Rakyat Percut Sei Tuan kabupaten Deli Serdang Provinsi Sumatera Utara masih sebagai sebagai ibu rumah tangga dan turut membantu suami bertani dan nelayan. Desa ini berjarak ± 11 km dari kampus Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kesehatan Indah Medan. Ibu-ibu di desa ini sebagaian besar tergabung di dalam kelompok PKK dan organisasi pedesaan dan berbagai kegiatan di desa, namun terbatas pada kegiatan-kegiatan keagamaan dan sosial lainnya, selebihnya banyak berdiam diri dirumah masing-masing. Masyarakat di desa ini hidup rukun, tidak terjadi konflik satu sama lain, kerukunan ini sangat terlihat nyata yaitu mereka bersama-sama di dalam berbagai kegiatan kemasyarakatan, misalnya dalam acara hajatan di rumah warga seperti acara duka cita, acara syukuran perkawinan, acara sunatan, acara gotong royong kebersihan desa, dan acara perayaan peringatan hari-hari besar. Dilihat dari keadaan ekonomi masyarakat di desa ini masih tergolong menengah ke bawah, hal ini tergambarkan dari sanitasi lingkungan desa yang belum begitu baik, pengolahan air bersih yang belum memadai, dan penyajian menu makanan keluarga masih banyak yang belum memenuhi standar gizi yang baik. Dari segi pendidikan putra-putrinya, masih ada keluarga yang anak-anaknya terputus pendidikan sampai tamat Sekolah Menengah Pertama. Kesemua ini sangat erat kaitannya dengan pendapatan keluarga yang masih minim, padahal ibu-ibu rumah tangga di desa ini sangat berpotensial untuk diberikan kegiatan yang dapat membantu penambahan pendapatan ekonomi keluarga, yang akhirnya akan memperbaiki kualitas kehidupan kesehatan, pendidikan keluarga, dan keluarga sejahtera.
