Abstract

The study of anti-inflammatory activity and isolation of the methanolic extract, hexane and ethyl acetate fractions of the leaves of puwarkincung (Nicolaia speciosa Horan) have been done. Isolation was carried out by extraction, fractionation and multiple column chromatographicmethod, followed by recrystallization technique. Two compounds were isolated and labeled as F4 and S3. F4 was derived from n-hexanefraction as yellowish-white crystals (20 mg) with mp. 55–57 oC and S3 from the ethyl acetate fraction (15 mg) as yellow crystals with mp.68–69 oC. Anti-inflammatory activity of methanolic extract using Paw Edema method showed that the dose 250 and 1000mg/kgbw wereactive as anti inflammatory agents.

Abstract

Optimization of extraction of total triterpenoid content from pegagan (Centela asiatica (Linn) Urban) originated from three locations inRiau province; kecamatan Siak Hulu, kabupaten Kampar, kecamatan Belilas, kabupaten Pelalawan and kecamatan Tampan kota Pekanbaruwas carried out using soxhlet method. n-Hexane and methanol were used as eluent and 8 grams of active carbon as adsorbent. The resultrevealed that pegagan originated from kabupaten Kampar showed the highest yield with total triterpenoid content of 3.94%, while otherspegagan afforded lower yield; 1.25% for kabupaten pelalawan and 1.91% for kota Pekanbaru.

Abstract

Natrium benzoat, kalium sorbat dan natrium sakarin merupakan bahan pengawet dan pemanis yang digunakan dalam makanan dan minuman. Telah dilakukan penentuan kadar natrium benzoat, kalium sorbat dan natrium sakarin (BENSORSAK) dalam saos sambal produksi industri rumah tangga dengan menggunakan Kromatografi Cair Kinerja Tinggi (KCKT). Kadar natrium benzoat untuk sampel A 2.577,33 mg/kg, sampel B 858,25 mg/kg, sampel C 1.905,88 mg/kg dan sampel D 2.295,83 mg/kg. Kadar natrium benzoat pada Sampel A, C dan D melebihi batas maksimal Menteri Kesehatan RI No 722 / IX / 88, yaitu 1 g/kg untuk asam benzoat atau garamnya. Kadar natrium sakarin yang terdapat pada sampel B 129,98 mg/kg dan sampel C 133,01 mg/kg masih dalam batas yang ditetapkan PerMenkes RI yaitu 0,5 g/kg. Sedangkan kalium sorbat tidak ditemukan dalam sampel saos sambal.

Abstract

At the beginning of 2020, the world was shocked by the outbreak of a new virus, The new type of Corona Virus (SARS-CoV-2) and the disease is called Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). It is known that the origin of this virus originated in Wuhan, China, was discovered at the end of 2019. Until now, it has been confirmed that there are 65 countries that have contracted this virus (WHO data March 1, 2020). Among all these countries, Indonesia is one of the countries that is also affected or infected by the Corona virus outbreak. As of April 2020, more than 1000 people have died according to data recorded at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia. This is of course a special concern for all circles. This activity aims to provide education about the meaning and dangers of COVID-19 and distribute free masks to the public. The method of implementing this activity is by providing health education about COVID-19 and distributing protective masks for free. People who received education and received masks for free seemed enthusiastic about the service activities being held, it was seen from the seriousness of the community in listening to the material and reading the educational brochures provided.

Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is one of the highest infectious diseases in Indonesia that can cause death. The public knowledge about the prevention and control of ARI is inadequate, so prevention efforts are needed to reduce the transmission of this infection disease. The purpose of this community service activity is to increase the knowledge of the people of Gunung Bungsu Village, Kec. XIII Koto Kampar on preventing the transmission of ARIs through preventive measures by providing education on how to use masks and proper ethics when coughing/sneezing. The method used was an interactive and participatory model by involving the community at Gunung Bungsu Village, Kec. XIII Koto Kampar. This socialization activity increased the community knowledge, showed by the enthusiasm of community at Gunung Bungsu Village, Kec. XIII Koto Kampar who actively interacts through the questions they ask to increase their understanding of ARI. Beside that, the results of the questionnaire assessment showed that the community was satisfy with the socialization of ARI prevention. This service can be useful for the prevention and control of ARI around the neighborhood.

Abstract

Study on comparison of wet granulation and direct compression method of physical properties and disintegration time of orally disintegrating tablets piroxicam has been done. This study aims to comparison which method gives better results of physical properties and disintegration time between wet granulation and direct compression method. Both methods are made with the same composition formula of each tablets is Piroxicam 20 mg, Primellose® 5%, 1% PVP K30, magnesium stearate 1%, Mannitol 10%, and Comprecel® up to 175 mg. ODTs then evaluated physical properties which include weight variation, thickness, hardness, friability and friksibility, disintegration time, ratio of water absorption, wetting time, drug content and dissolution test. The results showed that both methods produce the physical properties of a good tablets. However, the method of direct compression provides a disintegrating faster 55.51 seconds compared with the wet granulation method. Statistical test using independent sample T test showed that there were significant differences in the disintegration time (P <0.05) between the formula with the method of direct compression and wet granulation.

Abstract

Determination of berberine content of ethanol extract of root and stem of “sekunyit” (Fibraurea tinctoria Lour) has been conducted. “Sekunyit” is one of medicinal plant that has been used to treat several diseases traditionally. Its root and stem could relieve jaundice, diarrhea, conjunctivitis as well as antidiabetic agent. Based on previous study, it is known that Fibraurea tinctoria contains isoquinoline alkaloid, berberine. This present study aims to determine berberine content which was done by HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography) method using C-18 reverse phase column, methanol : phosphate buffer (pH 6,8) as its mobile phase with flow rate of 1 ml/min and UV detector. Abstract

A study on the analgesic activity ethanolic extract of Voacanga foetida leaves has been conducted on male mice by using Writhing test. The mice were induced with 0.1 mL of glacial acetic acid 1%. The extract was administered orally in the doses of 250, 500, and 1000 mg/kg, suspended with NaCMC 1%, while 65 mg/kg acetosal was used as positive control. The data was analyzed with two way ANOVA. The study revealed that the extract exhibited analgesic effect insignificantly different with acetosal at the doses of 250, 500, and 1000 mg/kg. This effect was different with negative control (p<0.05).

Abstract

Identification of optimization studies have been conducted borax in grilled meatballs with diethyldithiocarbamate reagent (DEDTC) and detected byUV-Vis spectrophotometer. Abstract

ABSTRAK Bekatul merupakan hasil samping proses penggilingan padi yang mengandung senyawa bioaktif seperti tokoferol, tokotrienol, dan oryzanol. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji aktivitas antioksidan dari ekstrak bekatul padi ketan (Oryza sativa L. var. glutinosa) merah dan hitam kemudian memformulasikannya dalam bentuk sediaan krim. Pengujian aktivitas antioksidan dilakukan dengan metode DPPH (2,2-difenil-1-pikrihidrazil). Hasil uji aktivitas antioksidan dari ekstrak bekatul padi ketan merah dan hitam, diperoleh nilai IC50 berturut-turut sebesar 31,7525 dan 434,7525 ppm. Selanjutnya ekstrak bekatul padi ketan merah dan hitam diformulasikan dalam bentuk sediaan krim tipe M/A dengan konsentrasi ekstrak bekatul padi ketan merah (FI) dan hitam (FII) masing-masing 2,5%. Hasil evaluasi fisik sediaan krim yang meliputi organoleptis, homogenitas, pH, stabilitas terhadap perubahan suhu, uji daya menyebar, uji daya tercuci dan uji iritasi menunjukkan bahwa sediaan krim ekstrak bekatul padi ketan merah (FI) dan hitam (FII) memenuhi persyaratan dan tidak mengiritasi selama 8 minggu penyimpanan. Hasil uji aktivitas antioksidan sediaan krim menunjukkan persen inhibisi untuk FI dan FII masing-masing sebesar 95,0974 dan 92,3569% pada minggu pertama, dan 89,9576 dan 86,9537% pada minggu kedelapan. Kata kunci: ekstrak bekatul, padi ketan merah, padi ketan hitam, antioksidan, krim. ABSTRACT Rice bran is a by-product of rice milling process that contain bioactive compounds such as tocopherol, tocotrienol, and oryzanol. This study aimed to test the antioxidant activity of the extract of red and black glutinous rice bran (Oryza sativa L. var. glutinosa) and then formulatethem into cream. Testing of antioxidant activity using DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-pikrihidrazil). The IC50 of the extract of red and black glutinous rice bran are 31.7525 and 434.7525 ppm, respectively. Subsequently, extract of red and black glutinous rice bran is formulated into type o/w cream with concentration of 2.5%. The results of evaluation of physical cream consist of organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, stability to temperature changes, power test spread, test of power washed and test of irritation. The results showed that the cream of both red (FI) and black (FII) glutinous rice bran extract meet the physical properties requirements and do not irritate during the 8 weeks of storage. The result of antioxidant activity test showed that inhibition percentage of FI and FII are 95.0974 and 92.3569% in the first week, and 89.9576 and 86.9537% in the eighth week, respectively.
