Abstract

This study aims to describe student errors and analyze the factors causing student errors in solving quadratic equation problems. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The subjects used in this study were class IX A consisting of 16 students, then 3 students were selected based on their high, medium, and low category abilities obtained after being given test questions. The instrument used was a test instrument in the form of two questions that met the Polya theory indicators. The results of this study indicate that there are four errors in solving quadratic equation problems: (1) errors in understanding the problem, namely not being able to write down information related to the problem that is known in the problem; (2) errors in making plans, namely not being able to change the problem sentence into a mathematical model and errors in choosing the steps for solving, (3) errors in implementing the plan, namely errors in writing the final answer, (4) not mastering the concept of arithmetic operations and rechecking the answers. Factors causing student errors in understanding are students' lack of understanding of the concept, difficulty in mathematical modeling, and students' lack of thoroughness in arithmetic skills.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to enhance the effectiveness of creative and quality teaching at MI Cikaso through the socialization of microteaching. The background of this activity is based on the need for teachers to develop more innovative teaching methods that align with technological advancements and curriculum demands. The method used in this activity is Participatory Action Research (PAR), which actively involves MI Cikaso teachers in all stages of the research, from planning, implementation, to evaluation. This activity includes microteaching training sessions, group discussions, and reflections that are expected to improve teachers' pedagogical competence and professionalism. The results of this activity indicate a significant improvement in teachers' ability to design and implement more interactive, student-centered learning. The conclusion of this activity is that the socialization of microteaching through the PAR approach is effective in enhancing the quality of teaching at MI Cikaso, as well as strengthening collaboration among teachers in creating a more dynamic and creative learning environment.

Abstract

Background: As a developing country with a vast and diverse archipelago, Indonesia requires a greater number of high-quality human resources capable of competing both nationally and internationally. One such strategy is the expanded development of English language education to strengthen human resources. Foreign a significant challenge in the learning process is the limited availability of both formal and informal platforms for students to practice the language, which hampers their progress. For EFL learners, reading is essential for acquiring the language, expanding vocabulary, and gaining broader knowledge and experiences. Methods: The research was carried out with 25 second-year students from class XI Science 1 at MA Darul Muhajirin Praya. The research utilized a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, implemented over two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four phases: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were gathered through tests, observation sheets, and documentation. Findings: The findings indicated a significant improvement in students' reading comprehension, marked by an average score increase of 8.97% from the pre-test to the second post-test. During the pre-test, only 1 student (4%) met the minimum passing standard (KKM), with an average score of 54.6. In the first post-test, 9 students (29.45%) achieved the passing score, with the average rising to 70.88. By the second post-test, 19 students (76%) had passed, with the average score reaching 77.24. Conclusion: This study concludes that applying skimming and scanning techniques greatly enhances students' reading comprehension. Incorporating these strategies into classroom English instruction effectively improves students' understanding of narrative texts, as evidenced by the findings of the action research. Novelty/Originality of this article: This study highlights the effectiveness of integrating skimming and scanning techniques into classroom English instruction for EFL learners. The novelty lies in demonstrating, through classroom action research, how these strategies significantly improve students’ comprehension of narrative texts in a measurable and systematic way.

Abstract

Persepsi Masyarakat Terhadap Ancaman Bencana Longsor di Desa Bonto Katute Kecamatan Sinjai Borong Kabupaten Sinjai. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (1) mengetahui bagaimana masyarakat desa bonto katute memahami konsep ancaman bencana longsor. (2) mengetahui faktor-faktor apa saja yg mempengaruhi persepsi masyarakat setempat terhadap ancaman bencana longsor. (3) mengetahui strategi yang dilakukan masyaraakat Dea Bonto Katute dalam menghadapi ancaman bencana longsor. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi lapangan, wawancara mendalam dengan 20 informan termasuk aparat desa, relawan bencana, dan warga sekitar yang memiliki latar belakang berbeda, dan dokumentasi. Tehnik analisis data yaitu pengumpulan data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penduduk memiliki tingkat kewaspadaan yang tinggi terhadap risiko longsor. Hal ini terbentuk oleh pengalaman empiris, terutama kejadian besar pada tahun 2006 dan 2024. Pandangan masyarakat dipengaruhi oleh jenjang pendidikan, informasi yang diterima, kondisi sosial-ekonomi, serta pengalaman pribadi. Strategi yang dilakukan meliputi relokasi tempat tinggal sebagai bentuk perlindungan fisik dan kegiatan gotong royong serta pemanfaatan kearifan lokal sebagai pendekatan sosial dan budaya. Kesadaran kolektif masyarakat terhadap risiko longsor telah terbangun dengan baik dan tercermin dalam berbagai bentuk respons adaptif. Meskipun demikian, sistem mitigasi formal seperti peringatan dini dan edukasi kebencanaan masih perlu ditingkatkan guna memperkuat ketangguhan wilayah secara menyeluruh.

Abstract

The concept of amal jariah, meaning "charity that provides sustainable benefits," is a universal principle in major religions such as Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity, and Confucianism. This research explores this concept from theological, philosophical and practical perspectives in these religions. Through a comprehensive literature review, primary and secondary sources are used to understand the essence and implications of this concept. The literature review approach allows researchers to explore the concept of charity without the limitations of field research. Charity in Islam includes good actions that continue to benefit others, reflecting human values and social justice. Karma in Hinduism regulates a person's fate based on their actions, influencing this life and the next. In Buddhism, a balance between karma and virtue is important in achieving wisdom and liberation. In Christianity, kindness and love are central principles that reflect God's love for humans. In Confucianism, the concept of Ren emphasizes the values of compassion and benevolence. Social welfare in religions is creating conditions where every individual feels safe, valued, and has a fair chance in life. The principles of humanity, justice and service to others are recognized as universal values in an effort to create a just, harmonious and empathetic society. In conclusion, a deep understanding of the concept of charity from various religions can enrich collaboration between religious communities in building a better world.
