Abstract

Most of the microbes inhabiting the oral cavities are harmless but can cause disturbance and discomfort if the microbial population increases significantly. One of the oral disorders that is often experienced by children, is dental caries. Dental caries is causedby various factors, including eating and brushing habits. The people of Central Kalimantan who live in the watershed use peat water in their daily activities, including for gargling and brushing their teeth. The acidic characteristics of peat water and the high content of organic substances trigger the development of microbes that cause dental caries. This study used dental caries swab samples of patients who rinsed their mouths with peat water. Bacteria were identified molecularly with 16SrRNA markers with primers 63F and 1387R. The similarity of nucleotide sequences was analyzed with BLAST on GeneBank. A phylogenetic tree was built with Maximum Likelihood. Both isolates have a fairly high level of similarity to Klebsiella pneumoniae, namely 91% and 93%. Both isolates are in the same clade, Klebsiella spp., and are close to various commonly found bacteria in the oral cavity, such as Streptococcus mutans and Lactobacillus salivarius.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an infectious disease caused by Aedes spp. mosquitoes. which can be found in tropical and sub-tropical climates. The transmission of dengue fever is closely related to people's daily living habits. Factors that play a role in the emergence of disease are influenced by human factors as hosts and Aedes spp mosquitoes. as a vector for transmitting dengue fever. The breeding place for Aedes spp. can increase the mosquito population in transmitting dengue fever to humans. Research on peat water as a habitat for Aedes spp. larvae. It is very important to do this as an effort to control dengue vectors, especially in areas where the pH of the water tends to be acidic in Palangka Raya City because the larvae of Aedes spp. has the ability to adapt to water that tends to be acidic. This research was conducted using a survey method with a cross-sectional study and experimental laboratory design.

Abstract

In Indonesia, the prevalence of diarrhea was reported to be 1,516,438 cases among children. Children who experience diarrhea with unprotected water sources and use of improper latrines are stated to be higher than children with protected water sources and proper latrines. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the relationship between environmental sanitation and the incidence of diarrhea in the Pahandut Health Center working area. This research method is non-experimental (Observative) with cross-sectional design. Sampling using purposive sampling technique with 100 respondents. Data collection using a questionnaire. Univariate analysis to show frequency distribution and bivariate analysis with chi square test with 95% confidence degree. The results of the bivariate analysis showed that the relationship between the behavior risk factors of using protected water and proper latrines had a p-value> 0.05, which means that there is no relationship between the use of protected water and the use of proper latrines.

Abstract

The occurrence of falls among the elderly is a result of the aging process, which can lead to injuries and physical limitations. A history of falls, gender, and nutritional status are estimated to influence the risk of falling. To evaluate the relationship between a history of falls, gender, and nutritional status and the results of the TUGT using a descriptive analytical design with a cross-sectional approach, the study sample consisted of 30 elderly people. Data analysis was performed using SPSS software, applying Fisher’s Exact Test and Spearman correlation tests. There is a relationship between a history of falls and nutritional status and the results of the TUGT in the elderly with p-value = 0,000. However, no significant relationship was found between gender and the results of the TUGT. This study provides evidence that a history of falls and nutritional status influence balance in the elderly.

Abstract

Bhayangkara Palangka Raya Hospital is one of the government's referral hospitals for treating COVID-19 patients. COVID-19 patients need good service and treatment because there is no appropriate drug formulary for treating COVID-19 at Bhayangkara Hospital. Currently, the standard for COVID-19 treatment is based on the third edition of the COVID-19 management guidebook. This research aims to understand the rationale for using COVID-19 drugs in patients treated at the Bhayangkara Palangka Raya Hospital Outpatient Installation. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative. This research uses the method Total Sampling. The samples in this study were patients who received COVID-19 drug therapy and were hospitalized at Bhayangkara Palangka Raya Hospital who met the inclusion criteria for the July-August 2021 period. There are 6 indicators of rationality for drug use, namely correct indication, correct drug, correct dose, correct duration and method. administration, and be aware of side effects. In this study, a sample of 41 patients was taken. Based on the results of research evaluating the rationality of using COVID-19 drugs in the Bhayangkara Hospital Palangka RayaInpatient Installation for the period July-August 2021 based on the COVID-19 management guidebook, 3rd edition of 2020, in terms of 6 indicators of rationality, it was concluded that the analysis results were correct indications (100% ), the right drug (100%), the right patient (100%), the right dose (100%), the right duration and method of administration (100%), and being aware of side effects (100%) are completely rational. Judging from the 6 indicators of rationality including the right indication, the right drug, the right patient, the right dose, the right duration and method of administration, being alert to side effects is declared completely rational

Abstract

Hepatitis is a type of acute disease caused by a virus. Hepatitis virus itself is divided into several types, namely Hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E. The global prevalence of hepatitis is reported to be 2 billion patients in the world, 240 million people with chronic hepatitis B, followed by hepatitis C with 170 million patients. Every year, 1.5 million people die from hepatitis. Indonesia has the highest hepatitis B endemicity, making WHO set a global level evaluation of hepatitis control every two years. In early 2022, a case of hepatitis was found that was claimed to be acute hepatitis. The first case of acute hepatitis was reported in the United Kingdom and was designated as an Extraordinary Event in 2022. Cases of acute hepatitis spread to various countries in the world, including Indonesia. A total of 18 suspected cases of hepatitis were reported in North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Bangka Belitung Islands, DKI Jakarta, West Java, East Java, East Kalimantan, and DKI Jakarta. The main transmission of acute hepatitis is thought to be through body fluids, so the Ministry of Health has initiated procedures to prevent the transmission of acute hepatitis among the community, especially children. The low public understanding of the dangers of acute hepatitis makes us the UPR FK Microbiology team to provide understanding and education to the public regarding the dangers of hepatitis, handling, prevention and management of acute hepatitis if it occurs in the community.
