Abstract

. Chilli sauce is a food additive that is served by many food vendors. Chili sauce could be contaminated by microbial contamination. To know food safety according to Peraturan Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan Nomor 13 Tahun 2019 Tentang Batas Maksimal Cemaran Mikroba Dalam Pangan Olahan a test has been conducted a Plate Count Test (PCA) and identyfying the existence of bacteria Salmonella typhi. The study is to find out the food safety microbiological bye measuring microbial contaminatio using PCA method and identification of Salmonella typhi. Using PCA method and identyfying the the existence of bacteria Salmonella typhi with selective media Salmonella Sgigella Agar (SSA) and gram staining. Identified 2 from 7 chilli sauce samples which are not qualified for quality standard of Peraturan Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan Nomor 13 Tahun 2019 Tentang Batas Maksimal Cemaran Mikroba Dalam Pangan Olahan and Salmonella typhi has not been found. Microbial contamination has been found on 2 samples which exceed the maximum limit and the existance of Salmonella typhi has not been discovered according to Peraturan Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan Nomor 13 Tahun 2019 Tentang Batas Maksimal Cemaran Mikroba Dalam Pangan Olahan.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Seratus lima puluh satu juta anak di seluruh dunia terlaporkan mengalami stunting. Selain disebabkan karena faktor kurang gizi, sanitasi juga menjadi faktor penyebab stunting. Sanitasi yang buruk dan tidak menerapkan Perilaku Hidup Bersih dan Sehat (PHBS) akan menyebabkan mudah tertular penyakit yang apabila berkelanjutan dapat mengganggu pertumbuhan dan perkembangan anak-anak. Lebih dari separuh jenis penyakit dan kematian pada anak dan balita disebabkan oleh kuman yang masuk ke dalam mulut melalui makanan, air, dan tangan yang kotor. Tujuan: Melalui kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini diharapkan dapat memberikan pemahaman pada pelajar akan pentingnya PHBS yang dapat berdampak terhadap kejadian stunting. Metode: Metode yang dilakukan yaitu penyuluhan PHBS, diskusi, praktik cuci tangan dan pemasangan banner langkah-langkah mencuci tangan menurut pedoman WHO. Hasil: Hasil yang didapat yaitu mayoritas pelajar belum mengetahui tentang PHBS dalam kehidupan sehari-hari dan juga belum dapat menerapkan cara mencuci tangan yang benar dan konsisten. Kesimpulan: Edukasi PHBS yang dilakukan meningkatkan pemahaman dan pengetahuan dari pelajar  akan pentingnya PHBS khususnya penerapan mencuci tangan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari yang dapat meningkatkan risiko kejadian stunting. Selanjutnya, yang dapat dilakukan adalah melakukan monitoring efektivitas PHBS terhadap kejadian penyakit pada anak-anak yang akan berujung pada kasus stunting.

Abstract

The prevalence of infectious diseases is increasing in developing countries such as Indonesia, and they have become a health problem. One infectious disease caused by Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria is necrotizing fasciitis. The subcutaneous tissues and fascia necrosis characterize necrotizing fasciitis. Antibiotic therapy is one way to prevent the growth and development of bacteria, but continuous use can cause resistance to bacteria. This research aimed to determine the antibacterial effectiveness of red betel leaf extract in cream preparations against the growth activity of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria using the ditch plate method. Red betel leaves were extracted using the UAE method (temperature 600 C for 15 minutes), then made into a cream dosage form with a formulation of 20% extract concentration (F1), 40% extract concentration (F2), and 80% extract concentration (F3) then tested evaluation of cream preparations and antibacterial activity test using the ditch plate method. The extraction of red betel leaves used the UAE method in concentrations of 20%(F1), concentrations of 40%(F2), and concentrations of 80% (F3) in cream preparation form. The cream was evaluated, and antibacterial activity was tested using the ditch plate method. The red betel leaf extract cream inhibits Staphylococcus aureus growth by the ditch plate method but does not have antibacterial activity on Escherichia coli.

Abstract

Hepatitis is a type of acute disease caused by a virus. Hepatitis virus itself is divided into several types, namely Hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E. The global prevalence of hepatitis is reported to be 2 billion patients in the world, 240 million people with chronic hepatitis B, followed by hepatitis C with 170 million patients. Every year, 1.5 million people die from hepatitis. Indonesia has the highest hepatitis B endemicity, making WHO set a global level evaluation of hepatitis control every two years. In early 2022, a case of hepatitis was found that was claimed to be acute hepatitis. The first case of acute hepatitis was reported in the United Kingdom and was designated as an Extraordinary Event in 2022. Cases of acute hepatitis spread to various countries in the world, including Indonesia. A total of 18 suspected cases of hepatitis were reported in North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Bangka Belitung Islands, DKI Jakarta, West Java, East Java, East Kalimantan, and DKI Jakarta. The main transmission of acute hepatitis is thought to be through body fluids, so the Ministry of Health has initiated procedures to prevent the transmission of acute hepatitis among the community, especially children. The low public understanding of the dangers of acute hepatitis makes us the UPR FK Microbiology team to provide understanding and education to the public regarding the dangers of hepatitis, handling, prevention and management of acute hepatitis if it occurs in the community.

Abstract

Akar Salung Belum (Luvunga sarmentosa) mengandung antioksidan yang dapat mencegah kerusakan sel akibat radikal bebas. Pengujian efek senyawa terhadap spermatozoa untuk menilai kemampuan viabilitas dapat dilakukan melalui analisis integritas membran dengan pendekatan in vitro. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak etanol 96% Saluang Belum (Luvunga sarmentosa) terhadap integritas membran spermatozoa secara in vitro. Penelitian spermatozoa manusia in vitro yang dicuci dan ditambahkan medium BWW kemudian diinkubasi pada suhu 37℃ selama 1 jam dengan ekstrak etanol 96% akar saluang belum pada perlakuan konsentrasi, 100 ng/mL, 200 ng/mL, 400 ng/mL, 800 ng/mL serta kelompok kontrol (hanya BWW). Integritas membran dinilai pada masing-masing 100 uL yang telah ditambahkan 1 mL HOST (Hypo-osmotic swelling test) di inkubasi 37°C selama 30 menit dan diamati menggunakan mikroskop cahaya dengan perbesaran 400x untuk melihat integritas membran spermatozoa dari ekor yang menggembung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa senyawa yang terdapat di dalam ekstrak etanol 96% akar Saluang Belum (Luvunga Sarmentosa) adalah terpenoid, flavonoid, steroid, fenolik dan alkaloid. Jumlah viabilitas sperma meningkat secara signifikan dari konsentrasi 100 ng/mL (68 ±3,99) , 200 ng/mL (72,2 ±4,26) , 400 ng/mL (77± 4,76),dan 800 ng/mL (80±4,87). Meningkat jika dibandingkan dengan kontrol (63±3,81). Ekstrak etanol 96% akar Saluang Belum (Luvunga sarmentosa) yang diberikan secara invitro memiliki pengaruh untuk meningkatkan integritas membran spermatozoa.

Abstract

Dental caries is caused by Streptococcus mutans, with resistance to fluoride becoming a significant challenge, thus requiring new antibacterial alternatives. The purpose of this literature review is to examine the potential of metabolite compounds from the Rutaceae plant family against S. mutans through a systematic review. The method used includes a literature review from databases such as Google Scholar, PubMed, and Research Gate (2014–2024) following the PRISMA protocol. The analysis covers plants from the Rutaceae family, bacterial inhibition zone tests, and secondary metabolite content. A total of 15 journals (6 national, 9 international) demonstrated that the Rutaceae family plants possess strong antibacterial activity. Active compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, saponins, and terpenoids were found in the bark, leaves, and fruits of the plants. Extracts from the bark of Citrus aurantifolia showed the largest inhibition zone against S. mutans (28.7 mm). Flavonoids and tannins played a significant role in antibacterial activity. The conclusion derived is that the Rutaceae family has great potential as a natural antibacterial agent for the prevention of dental caries. These findings provide a foundation for developing safe and effective oral care products based on natural ingredients.
