Abstract

The pilgrimage activities performed by local Muslims in the Safarwadi cave are considered to have a similar function and value as the Hajj pilgrimage activities conducted directly in the city of Mecca. However, this phenomenon is typically excluded from scientific discussions. This study addresses deficiencies in previous research by examining the characteristics, meanings, and community responses to pilgrimage activities performed at Safarwadi cave. This descriptive qualitative study, based on a case study approach, resulted in three significant findings. Firstly, the pilgrimage activities performed by local Muslims at Safarwadi cave have a different set of practices and symbols than those observed in the Hajj activities conducted in the city of Mecca. Secondly, the pilgrimage activities performed at Safarwadi Cave are considered by local Muslims to have the same function and value as the Hajj activities conducted in the city of Mecca. Thirdly, the community’s response to pilgrimage activities performed by local Muslims at Safarwadi cave is considered to be an unbelievable, irrational, and abnormal pilgrimage activity. This study also recommends that in-depth interviews should be conducted to gain a deeper understanding of the pilgrimage activities performed by local Muslims.

Abstract

This research examines the process of disseminating the hijrah doctrine on social media, as well as the themes and motives attached to its dissemination. This study is a literature review using a virtual ethnography research model. Through a traveling theory approach, the study finds that: First, the dissemination of the hijrah doctrine on social media is predominantly carried out and shared by urban Muslims and millennial Muslims. Second, common themes used to disseminate the hijrah doctrine include Islamic clothing, early marriage propaganda, bank interest, and motivation for building an Islamic Caliphate state. These themes are disseminated through Hijrah Fest events, social media study groups, the narrative of agency socialization through artists and celebrities, and Islamist literature. This study argues that the dissemination of the hijrah doctrine on social media constitutes a form of religious commodification, with a larger agenda of promoting the movement to establish an Islamic Caliphate state.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) chatbot ‘ChatGPT’ in the education sector has changed the learning patterns among students, staff, and lecturers. The rise of AI-driven tools is bringing forth significant ethical concerns, which are considered essential to discuss. The present study was conducted in three public sector universities in Malaysia, where we opted for the quantitative research design and approached the research participants through personal invitation and snowball sampling procedures. A total of 406 respondents were involved in this study, and the data was gathered through a survey, using structured questionnaire. The purpose of this method is to collect diverse data from a variety of participants, including students, staff, and lecturers. The findings show that it is imperative to highlight the need for robust ethical guidelines and a higher education institution framework to ensure that implementation is indispensable. Furthermore, addressing these ethical challenges can harness the potential of chatbots in academia along with ensuring ethical concerns being addressed. The study concluded that academicians had clear understanding about the ethical issues of using ChatGPT or AIs. The study also suggests recommendations regarding the ethical usage by the government of Malaysia.

Abstract

Background. The quality of education in Indonesia is still stagnant, as evidenced by students’ achievements, which have not shown significant changes. This is influenced by the competence of teachers, who are not yet fully professional. Purpose. This research aims to reveal the impact of teachers’ personality competence and students’ attitudes on the quality of learning, both partially and simultaneously. Method. This study employs a quantitative method with a correlational approach, involving 57 students from SDN Pangilen 3 Sampang in grades 4, 5, and 6. The sampling technique used is saturated sampling. Data was collected through a questionnaire with a Likert scale ranging from strongly agree (5) to strongly disagree (1). Data processing includes descriptive statistical analysis, prerequisite tests such as normality and linearity, as well as validity and reliability testing. Hypothesis testing is conducted through multiple regression analysis, including simultaneous testing (F test) and partial testing (t test) to analyze the contributions between variables. Results. It shows that teachers’ personality competence and students’ attitudes have a significant impact on the quality of learning, with Sig. values of 0.000 and 0.004, respectively. The simultaneous test confirms the collective influence of both variables, with teachers’ competence contributing 34.1% and students’ attitudes contributing 19.5%. The dominance of teachers’ competence in affecting the quality of learning is evident from its relative contribution of 63.6%. Conclusion. This research emphasizes the importance of enhancing teachers’ personality competence to improve the quality of learning in schools.
