Abstract

The background to the problem is studying Imam al-Ghazali in the book Ihya Ulumuddin discussing the differences between the learning process and inspiration and the implications for Islamic education. The research methodology uses library research. The author applies theories from scriptures and books. The aim of this writing is to know the difference between the learning process and inspiration. The implications for Islamic education. The results obtained are that the learning process also explains that students in the learning process must have manners. Prioritizing mental cleanliness, Allah makes it easy for us to fulfill and apply the knowledge gained. Reducing worldly things. Don't be arrogant in seeking knowledge and don't argue with teachers. Avoid disputes between fellow humans, Not refusing to study a field of knowledge, Prioritizing the most important knowledge, namely the knowledge of the afterlife. Decorating the heart with qualities that convey it to Allah Ta'ala and. Inspiration means something that is whispered into the heart through the abundance of divine grace. The implications of Islamic education are efforts to form complete human beings, both in this world and in the afterlife. According to Al Ghazali, humans can achieve perfection if they are willing to try to seek knowledge and then practice fadhilah through the knowledge they learn.

Abstract

The development of Islamic theology has been closely intertwined with ongoing debates between rational and textual approaches that emerged alongside social and intellectual transformations within the Muslim community. In this context, Imam Abu al-Hasan al-Ash‘ari and Imam Abu Mansur al-Maturidi played a crucial role in preserving and strengthening the creed of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama‘ah as the mainstream theological framework of Islam. This study is motivated by the need for a comprehensive understanding of their contributions in responding to extreme theological trends, either those that excessively prioritized reason or those that entirely rejected rational inquiry. The purpose of this research is to analyze the roles of Al-Ash‘ari and Al-Maturidi in formulating a moderate and balanced theological foundation for Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama‘ah. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method through library research, involving a critical review of classical theological works and relevant scholarly literature. The findings indicate that Al-Ash‘ari and Al-Maturidi successfully constructed a theological framework that integrates the authority of revelation with the function of reason in a proportional manner. Their approaches preserved the purity of Islamic creed while allowing constructive engagement with intellectual developments. The study concludes that the theological contributions of Al-Ash‘ari and Al-Maturidi have significant implications for strengthening religious moderation and ensuring the continuity of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama‘ah creed amid contemporary intellectual challenges. Abstract

This article examines the concepts of faith and major sins from the perspective of four major schools of Islamic thought: the Khawarij, the Murji'ah, the Mu'tazilah, and the two Sunni schools of Kalam (Ash'ari and Maturidi). This study highlights the differences in views regarding the definition of faith, the limits, and consequences of major sins, as well as their positions on the perpetrators of major sins within the framework of Islamic theology and ethics. The Khawarij view faith as an absolute, inherent belief and consider major sins to be disbelief, while the Murji'ah emphasize that faith is a conviction of the heart that remains despite committing major sins, and that punishment is left to God. The Mu'tazilah affirm God's justice and consider major sins as forgivable violations of faith, while Sunni schools such as the Ash'ari and Maturidi argue that faith encompasses conviction of the heart and deeds, and that the perpetrator of major sins does not deviate from faith if he repents. This study offers a comparative analysis that enriches understanding of these differences in theological interpretations in the context of faith and sin in Islam.   Keywords: faith, sin, theology, madzhab, Ash'ari

Abstract

This study was conducted to address the problems of Qur’an Hadith learning that are still dominated by traditional methods, such as lectures and limited learning materials. These conditions lead to low student engagement and less optimal understanding of Qur’anic verses and hadiths. The study aims to describe the development process of multimedia-based Qur’an Hadith learning media and teaching materials, to assess the feasibility of the content and media design, and to identify students’ responses to its use in improving motivation and comprehension. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, documentation, and triangulation techniques. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was strengthened through source triangulation, technique triangulation, and member checking. The results indicate that multimedia-based learning media present Qur’an Hadith materials in a more systematic, engaging, and interactive manner, thereby reducing misconceptions in understanding verses and hadiths. Students showed positive responses because the visual and audio elements helped them comprehend abstract concepts more easily. Teachers also experienced benefits in terms of time efficiency and consistency in material delivery. Overall, multimedia-based learning media proved to be an effective solution for improving the quality of Qur’an Hadith learning in the digital era.   Keywords: digital teaching materials, learning motivation, multimedia, Qur’an Hadith learning

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategy for developing digital-based Islamic Religious Education (PAI) Lesson Plans (RPPs) and their contribution to teacher performance effectiveness. Ideally, lesson plan development should follow systematic principles in accordance with educational regulations. However, research findings indicate that the digitalization of lesson plan development at SMA Negeri 7 Tasikmalaya City is not yet fully optimized. Teachers still rely on Microsoft Word as the primary tool, while digital technologies such as Google, learning apps, and artificial intelligence (AI) are only utilized as aids in searching for references and comparing materials. Conversely, the use of digital technology is more dominant in the learning implementation stage through the use of Canva and Filmora to create audio-visual media that have been proven to improve student understanding and learning interest. Furthermore, digital technology also has a significant impact on teacher work time efficiency, through the school intranet system that is capable of automatic correction and digital grade recapitulation. This study emphasizes the importance of strengthening teachers' digital competencies, institutional support, and developing an innovative work culture so that the digitalization of lesson planning can be implemented optimally and sustainably.   Keywords: PAI lesson plan, digital technology, teacher performance effectiveness, instructional planning, learning media

Abstract

Qur'an and Hadith education in the 21st-century learning era demands pedagogical transformation from conventional approaches toward more dynamic and meaningful learning. The integration of diverse teaching media and methods has become a crucial strategy in creating interactive, participatory learning experiences oriented toward holistic student competency development. This study aims to analyze the role of diverse teaching media and methods in creating dynamic Qur'an and Hadith learning at MAN 2 Tasikmalaya City. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Findings reveal that MAN 2 Tasikmalaya City has successfully implemented a combination of conventional media such as blackboards, textbooks, and student worksheets (LKS), integrated with lectures, question-and-answer sessions, group discussions, assignments, and modules that effectively fostered interactive and student-centered learning environments. The synergy of varied media and methods applied has proven effective in enhancing students' motivation, active participation, and deep understanding of Qur'anic verses and Hadith, while also shaping spiritual attitudes, discipline, and self-confidence. This study confirms that the varied learning practices at MAN 2 Tasikmalaya City represent a pedagogical strategy model relevant to the demands of 21st-century education and can serve as a practical reference for educators and other educational institutions in developing innovative and meaningful Qur'an and Hadith learning.   Kata kunci: Learning media, varied methods, Qur'an and Hadith, dynamic learning, learning motivation

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of a translation-based learning strategy for Al-Qur’an and Hadith in improving students’ comprehension at MTs Mu’min Ma’sum. The background of this research stems from the issue that learning activities are still primarily focused on memorization, causing students to struggle with understanding the meaning of Qur’anic verses and hadiths in depth. The translation strategy was selected because it enables students to recognize the meaning of vocabulary, sentence structure, and the contextual messages contained within, thereby making the learning process more meaningful. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method using observation, interviews, documentation, and data triangulation to ensure the validity of the findings. The implementation of the strategy includes word analysis, understanding the context of verses, group discussions, noting essential meanings, and summarizing lesson content. The results show that the translation strategy enhances students’ active engagement in the learning process, strengthens their ability to explain verse meanings, and helps them connect the messages of the Qur’an and Hadith with their daily learning experiences. Although some students still require assistance during the adaptation period of the Merdeka Curriculum, overall, this strategy is considered relevant, flexible, and effective in improving students’ comprehension and the quality of Al-Qur’an and Hadith learning in the madrasah. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of creative solutions in improving the literacy culture of Islamic Education (PAI) learning. This research is motivated by the challenge of a low religious literacy culture among students, which prompted the Headmaster of MTs Mathlaul Khaer Cintapada to establish the Integrated Tahfidz Program in 2022. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. The creative solution implemented is a combination of direct memorization deposits (setoran) and the utilization of the Al-Kalam digital application, which facilitates students in memorizing, understanding Tajwid, and Makharijul Huruf. The memorization target over three years is 6 Juz (1, 2, 27, 28, 29, 30), with a success rate reaching 70% of students. The results show that this program has successfully increased student enthusiasm and literacy, marked by the annual Tahfidz Graduation as a form of appreciation and motivation. This study concludes that the integration of digital technology and structured programs effectively strengthens religious literacy in schools.   Keywords: Islamic Education Learning, PAI Learning, Religious Literacy Culture, Integrated Tahfidz Program, Creative Solutions.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the cultivation of moderate faith values through the theological perspectives of Al-Ashʿarī and Al-Māturīdī within the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum at MIS Nagarakasih 2 Tasikmalaya. The background of this research is rooted in the challenges of globalization and the diversity of religious interpretations that influence students’ ways of thinking, thereby necessitating a moderate approach in religious education. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through observation and interviews. The findings indicate that moderate faith values such as tasāmuḥ (tolerance), iʿtidāl (justice), tawāzun (balance), and tawassuṭ (the middle path) are integrated into the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Islamic Religious Education learning. PAI teachers play a strategic role in instilling these values through role modeling, habituation of moderate attitudes, and the strengthening of school culture that supports the learning process. The implementation of moderate faith values is supported by a flexible curriculum and institutional support, although challenges remain, particularly those related to students’ individual characteristics. Overall, the theological perspectives of Al-Ashʿarī and Al-Māturīdī remain relevant as a theological foundation for shaping students who possess strong faith, open-minded thinking, and moderate behavior in accordance with the Islamic values of rahmatan lil ʿālamīn.   Keywords: Moderate Faith, Al-Asy'ari, Al-Maturidi, Islamic Religious Education, Religious Moderation.

Abstract

In Islamic theology, the debate over the status of those who commit major sins (kabā'ir) is an important issue that greatly influences the formation of concepts of faith, deeds, and salvation.  Views on the status of those who commit major sins differ among the three main schools of thought: the Khawarij, the Mu'tazilah, and the Asy'ariyah.  While the Mu'tazilah consider them to be manzilah baina al-manzilatain—between believers and unbelievers—the Khawarij consider them to be unbelievers who have left Islam.  According to the Asy'ariyah, people who commit major sins remain believers, even though they are fāsiq, and their fate is ultimately decided by Allah. Using qualitative methodology and a literature review approach, this study analyzes the perspectives of these three schools of thought and their implications for Islamic creed education. The data collected came from primary and secondary literature discussing contemporary and classical Islamic theology. The analysis was conducted descriptively and comparatively to describe the conceptual differences between each school of thought and assess the pedagogical values that can be integrated into faith learning. The results of the study show that the differences in the views of the three schools of thought have theological and pedagogical consequences. Asy'ariyah offers space for spiritual rehabilitation and moderation, while Khawarij emphasizes moral firmness.  By teaching proportionally and comparatively, the three schools of thought can enrich faith education to shape students who are critical, moderate, and have good character.  This study confirms that a comparative theological approach in Islamic education is crucial to prevent extremism and create a balanced and contextual understanding of faith in today's world.   Keywords: Perpetrators of Major Sins, Islamic Theology, Khawarij, Mu'tazilah, and Asy'ariyah, Education in Faith, Religious Moderation
