Abstract

The low rate of problem solving ability and student learning motivation are the one of background of this research. The purpose of research is to know the influence of open ended approach against that. This is research used experimental method. The sample of this research is the five grade students in Gunungsari I elementary school as the experimental group and Ranjikulon I elementary school as the control group. The result of this research is: (1) open ended approach affect the ability of problem solving and student learning motivation; (2) mathematical learning with open ended approach is better than conventional approach in term of increase the problem solving ability and student learning motivation; (3) there is a positive relationships between problem solving ability and student learning motivation; and (4) the supporting factor of learning using open ended approach is the teacher’s ability in presenting open problem, observation, and interview. Meanwhile the inhibiting factors is that the student not used to the open problem.

Abstract

This research is part of research report of Contextual Approach Based on Majalaya Ethnography to improve mathematical problem solving ability. This research is a quasi-experimental research with non-equivalent control research design. The population in this research is all elementary school students in Majalaya sub-district of Bandung Regency, while the sample is the fourth grade students of SDN Majasetra 02 and SDN Babakan Lapang that is decided by using quota sampling and purposive sampling. After that all fourth grade students in both elementary schools were given basic ability test to know the equality of ability between the two elementary schools. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that the improvement of students' mathematical problem solving ability that is acquired through learning with the contextual approach based on Majalaya ethnography and the conventional learning does not show significant differences, but the contextual learning process based on Majalaya ethnography is better than conventional approach.

Abstract

This research purpose to prove Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach better than conventional approach in improving problemz solving abilityz and mathematical disposition ofz students, and how is relation between problemz solving abilityz and mathematical disposition. This research method is quasi experimental, with the nonequivalent controlz group design. The populationz is the fourth graders ofz elementary school in Cimalaka sub-district the school is in the superior group, with a sampel fourth grade students of SDN Margamukti as the experimental class and the fourth grade students of SDN Cimalaka III as the control class. The instrumentss used in  this research are test and nontest instruments. The result of research with significance level α = 0,05 indicates that learning with Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach is significantly better than conventional learning in improving problem  solving ability and   mathematical disposition of student. Theres is a positive relationship between problem solving abilities and mathematical disposition of students.

Abstract

Mathematical representation ability is needed in mathematics, so that the barriers that occur in developing the ability of student representation should be anticipated by the learning and teaching materials in accordance with characteristics of students tailored to the ability developed. This research uses the method of didactical design research (DDR) method. The purpose of this research is to make didactic designs based on the obstacles that arise in the implementation of preliminary study, and take the material of the spatial webs geometry and develop the ability of mathematical representation. In this study using realistic mathematics learning approach, in this approach students are required to find their own knowledge. This research focuses on the development of teaching materials in the form of student worksheets, in the student worksheets arranged based on obstacles that occur later then validated by experts, in addition to making teaching materials and learning implementation plan in this study also makes predictions of student responses and pedagogical didactic anticipation. The conclusions drawn from didactic design research to determine the spatial webs for developing mathematical representations of grade V elementary school students.

Abstract

Ability of Representation is the process of applying ideas that are poured in symbols to show an understanding of mathematical concepts. The ability of elementary school representation is still low. The investigative approach of quantum strategy allows students to be actively involved because students construct and rediscover the reflected concept. The investigative approach of quantum strategy has a good effect on the ability of mathematical representation of class V students on flat matter. This is evidenced by the study using quasi-experimental methods with pretest-postets control group design that indicates that a quantum-strategy investigative approach improves students' mathematical representation skills including superior student groups, medium, and the lower group. Based on the result of this research, investigative approach of quantum strategy can be used as a solution to improve the mathematical representation ability of elementary school students.

Abstract

The low comprehension of elementary school students in integer material and the low motivation of students to learn mathematics is the background of this research. One alternative solution to the problem is to apply contextual approach REACT strategy on learning mathematics. The purpose of this study is to determine the difference between the influence of contextual approach REACT strategy compared with conventional learning on the ability of mathematical understanding and learning motivation of elementary school students on the matter of addition and reduction of integers. This study is a quasi experimental with non equivalent control group design. The results showed that both of it were able to improve the ability of mathematical understanding and learning motivation of elementary school students, but contextual approach REACT strategy was better, and there is a positive correlation between learning motivation and students mathematical understanding ability in the experimental class.

Abstract

Kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan disposisi matematis merupakan sebuah tujuan pembelajaran yang penting untuk dikembangkan di Sekolah Dasar. Namun, fakta dilapangan menunjukkan masih rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan disposisi matematis. Berdasarkan hal tersebut perlu adanya sebuah intervensi, atau upaya perbaikan dengan bantuan pembelajaran Problem-Centered Learning. Pendekatan ini merupakan sebuah kegiatan yang menjadikan masalah sebagai kegiatan yang dikerjakan siswa. Tujuannya, untuk melihat pengaruh dari pembelajaran Problem-Centered Learning. Yang menjadi subjek penelitian adalah seluruh siswa di kecamatan Darmaraja. Sampel yang diambil adalah SDN Kebonbuah dan SDN Pataruman. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah soal tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah,.angket.disposisi.matematis, .format observasi dan wawancara. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian pendekatan Problem-Centered Learning berpengaruh secara signifikan pada kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan disposisi matematis.
