Abstract

This research is based on the idea that the "Segar" media-assisted contextual approach and "Basis" games can improve the students'comprehension skill of mathematical. This research uses a quasi-model design of non-equivalent control group experiments. The samples were chosen based on the basic comprehension skill of mathematical test scores that have comparable capability, so that the samples taken are in one of primary schools in Sub-district of Pleres SDN 1 Tegalsari, class IVA as experimental class 1 and IVB as experimental class 2. Instruments used in this researcharecomprehension skill of mathematical test, student activity observation format, teacher performance observation format, and questionnaire. Data acquisition in this research was analyzed through SPSS 16.0 for windows program. From the analysis that has been done, then obtained the calculation results of 46.10% variation of achievement comprehension skill ofmathematical at the end of learning contextual approach with media aid "Segar". While the contextual approach of game "Basis" offers a variation of achievement of comprehension skill improvement of 66.75%.

Abstract

The low ability of mathematical problem solving of students, particularly at the elementary school students (elementary school) became the background of this research. In addition, a variety of characteristics shared by every student also observed in this study. One of the characteristics is intelligence. The fact that Howard Gardner suggested that everyone has diverse intelligence within him. Therefore, this research will apply the approach to Problem-Based Learning-based Multiple Intelligences as an effort to increase the ability of the mathematical problem solving of students which will also involve a variety of intelligence on the student in accordance with the theory of Multiple Intelligences by Howard Gardner expressed. The research method used experimental with control group pretest-postest design.  The population in this study are all the students scattered throughout the elementary school Sub Kadipaten Regency, which is included into the Group of papak (medium). The sample of this research is the grade IV SDN Liangjulang VI that has two groups of study, so that the class IV A chosen as an experimental class and class IV B as the class of the control. The results of this study showed that after a given learning using approaches to Problem-Based Learning-based Multiple Intelligences and conventional approaches to increasing the ability of the mathematical problem-solving of students with  n-gain that experience an increase in the category are for class experiments and low categories of the class of the control. Improvement of mathematical problem solving ability get learning by using Problem-Based Learning approach-based Multiple Intelligences is better than students who get conventional learning. It is based on the results of different trials the average n-gain from the second class. In addition, based on the ANOVA  test one line on the sixth Multiple Intelligences smarts group indicates that is not the case of the difference of the average increase in the ability of problem-solving on the sixth group of the intelligence.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of students' mathematical comprehension skills by using kabota media, the improvement of students' mathematical understanding with conventional learning and the differences of improvement between learning with kabota media and conventional approach on fractional lesson. The population of this research is all fourth grade students in Kecamatan Palasah of Majalengka Regency and the sample of this research is the students of class IV-A and IV-B at SDN Palasah I. Class IV-A is used as the experiment class that learnt using the kabota media and class IV- B is used as a control class that learnt with conventional approach. The results showed that both experimental and control classes have improved on the students' mathematical understanding on fractional lesson. This means there is not any differences in the improvement between the post-test score in the experimental class and the control class. So it can be concluded, learning using kabota media is as well as conventional approach in improving students' mathematical understanding of the fourth grade on fractional lesson.

Abstract

Salahsatu tujuan matapelajaran matematika berdasarkan KTSP menyebutkan agar siswa mempunyai kemampuan dalam memahami konsep matematika. Pembelajaran yang dianjurkan agar siswa memahami apa yang dipelajarinya bisa melalui proses pembelajaran yang berpusat pada siswa, diantaranya menggunakan pendekatan realistik dan kontekstual. Oleh sebab itu, tujuan umum penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbedaan pangaruh antara pendekatan realistik dan pendekatan kontekstual terhadap pemahaman matematis siswa pada materi kesebangunan. Adapun populasi yang diambil adalah semua siswa kelas V sekolah dasar yang ada di Kecamatan Nagreg Kabupaten Bandung, kemudian sampel yang dipilih adalah siswa kelas V SDN Cibunar dan siswa kelas V SDN Pamujaan 2. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan realistik dan pendekatan kontekstual dapat meningkatkan pemahaman matematis, tetapi tidak terdapat perbedaan pengaruh antara pendekatan realistik dan pendekatan kontekstual terhadap pemahaman matematis siswa pada materi kesebangunan. Hal ini terjadi karena pendekatan realistik dan pendekatan kontekstual mempunyai pengaruh yang berbeda pada ketercapaian setiap indikator pemahaman matematis.

Abstract

The use of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) with “MURDER” strategy in primary schools is still rare in Indonesia. Problem-Based Learning (PBL) strategy "MURDER" is one of the main innovative and appropriate collaboration between the approaches and strategies to give effect to the students' mathematical reasoning skills. Students’ mathematical reasoning skills is one of the main skill that students need to have in the problem solving process. This study was conducted to determine the effect of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) strategy "MURDER" of mathematical reasoning skills of students. The method used is a quasi experiment with nonequivalent control group design. The population in this research is the entire class of grade V elementary school in Kuningan regency, with the sample chosen SDN 4 Jalaksana as an experimental class and SDN Padamenak as the control class.

Abstract

This research is based on the problem of Indonesian lag in mathematics that is analyzed based on PISA test result. One of the contributing factors is the problem solving ability of elementary school mathematics that is still low. An alternative way to improve that ability is through learning by realistic mathematics education. The research compares the effectiveness of realistic mathematics education with conventional learning specifically on circumference and area of trapezoidal and kite. The research design uses pretest-posttest control group design. The population of it is all the elementary schools in Ganeas sub-district with sample of SDN Ganeas 1 as experiment class and SDN Wargaluyu as control class that is chosen by random. The research instruments are test of mathematical problem solving ability, observation, note, and interview. The result of research in the level of significance α = 0.05 that realistic mathematics education and conventional learning can improve students' mathematical problem solving ability significantly. Students give positive responses to learn with realistic mathematics education. The use of active media and student activities are the supporting factors of learning with realistic mathematics education. Meanwhile, the obstacle factors are that students are not yet accustomed to answer  the questions that train the problem solving abilitity of mathematics.

Abstract

Human life always involves mathematics, so needed mastery of mathematical understanding ability, and mathematical disposition (MUA-MD) since early age. Innovative mathematic learning through Sundanese culture ethnomatematics (SCE)-based contextual approach is chosen as a solution in improving MUA-MD. This study aims to determine the improvement of students MUA-MD that learn through SCE-based contextual approach, and conventional learning, knowing differences in improvement between SCE-based contextual approach, and conventional learning, knowing the positive relationship between MUA and MD. This research used pretest-posttest control group design with samples of grade V SDN Cibeureum 3, and SDN Licin  in Sumedang. Conclusions of this research are: 1) SCE-based contextual, and conventional approach can improve MUA-MD significantly, 2) SCE-based contextual approach is significantly better to improving goals than conventional approach, 3) There is positive relationship between mathematical understanding ability, and mathematical disposition.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the ability of solving mathematical problems and learning motivation in primary school through learning by using problem-based learning (PBL) approach. The method used is a free variable experimental method (quasi experimental) with design control group is not equivalent. Population in this research is all class V in Sumedang South. Meanwhile, the sample is the students of class V SDN Sukaraja I (control) and SDN Sukaraja II (experimental). Instruments used in the form of problems of mathematical problem solving skills, learning motivation attitude scale, teacher performance observation sheet and student activity, and student response questionnaire. Result of research with significance level α = 0,05 shows that conventional approach and PBL approach can increase the ability of mathematical problem solving and student's learning motivation. The improvement is influenced by the performance of the teacher which done well so that the students can follow the learning very good.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to improved understanding and connection mathematical ability by applying problem-based learning approached and conventional learning, the differents of improved about both of them, the connection between understanding ability and connection ability also students response after given the treatment used  problem-based learning approached. Quasi-experiments method with control teams design wasn’t equivalent to used. The instrumen which used pretest and posttest questions, observation paper both teacher performance and students activity, also interview students guided. Based on the purpose of the research, the result student’s understanding and connection mathematical ability was improved, both at class experiment and control class. But, the result not refered that learning used by problem-based learning approached was better than conventional learning.  A lot of factor which can make it happen. But, students responed was good after the class meeting used problem-based learning approached. Based on signification degree 0,05, the result showed that understanding and connection mathematical ability, both of them has positive connection.

Abstract

In problem solving, the students have to need creative thinking ability that will show the creative solutions without any hesitation. An open-ended approach with M-RTE strategy is one options to improving students' creative thinking ability. The research uses quasi experiment method with nonequivalent control group design. Research population is all students of grade V SD in North Sumedang Subdistrict. Meanwhile, the samples are SDN Bendungan 2 as the experimental class and SDN Sukamulya as the control class. After learning during four times, both at SDN Bendungan 2 or SDN Sukamulya have increased on mathematical creative thinking ability. Hence the open-ended approach with M-RTE strategy and conventional approach have a positive effect on mathematical creative thinking ability. However, based on the average of N-gain obtained there is no a significant difference between the positive effects of the open-ended approach with M-RTE strategy and the conventional approach.Â
