Abstract

Ibn Malik is a prominent figure in Arabic linguistics, best known for his monumental work, Alfiyyah Ibn Malik, which has played a crucial role in shaping Arabic grammar education. This study explores his contributions to Arabic language education from both a historical and pedagogical perspective. Using a qualitative research approach with historical and pedagogical analysis, this research examines the structure, methodology, and relevance of Alfiyyah in contemporary Arabic teaching. The findings reveal that Ibn Malik’s approach emphasizes systematic grammatical instruction, memorization, and structured sequencing of linguistic rules, making it an essential reference in traditional Arabic education. However, challenges arise when applying this method in modern pedagogical contexts, particularly for non-native Arabic learners. This study highlights the need for adaptation, suggesting that integrating technology-enhanced learning, contextual grammar instruction, and communicative approaches can enhance the effectiveness of Ibn Malik’s methodology in contemporary classrooms. The research concludes that while Alfiyyah Ibn Malik remains a cornerstone of Arabic grammar studies, modern innovations in language teaching strategies are necessary to optimize its impact for today’s diverse learners.

Abstract

This study explores the paradigm of physical punishment within Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia and Malaysia, examining its theological justifications, cultural roots, institutional frameworks, and practical implications. Using a qualitative comparative case study approach, data were collected through interviews with educators, students, and community leaders; classroom observations; and analysis of policy and curriculum documents. The findings indicate that while both countries share normative references to Islamic teachings, their interpretations and applications of physical discipline vary. In Indonesia, especially in traditional pesantren, physical punishment is often viewed as a tool for moral formation under the concept of ta’dib. In contrast, Malaysia demonstrates a gradual shift toward more compassionate and rights-based approaches to discipline, driven by stronger regulatory frameworks and public discourse. However, challenges such as lack of teacher training, uneven policy implementation, and persistent cultural beliefs continue to shape practices in both countries. The study concludes that a transformative approach to Islamic education requires balancing religious values with child protection principles and contemporary pedagogical thought, encouraging a shift toward holistic, non-violent educational practices.

Abstract

This study examines the morphosemantic changes in the Arabic language in the era of social media, focusing on a study of neologisms and their impact on youth communication. The research concentrates on how new terms emerge through platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and how these terms affect the development of the Arabic language. A qualitative approach was used, relying on descriptive analysis of data collected from observations, interviews, and documents related to the use of neologisms. The results show that neologisms have led to notable changes in word structure and meanings, with new words formed through word combinations, abbreviations, and adaptations from other languages. The study also revealed that these changes have significantly impacted how youth communicate, leading to the use of informal and easily understandable language in digital interactions. However, the increasing reliance on new terms may lead to a decline in the use of classical Arabic. The study recommends finding a balance between linguistic innovations and preserving linguistic heritage to ensure the continuity of the Arabic language in the future
