Abstract

Assistance in learning English using the discussion method carried out by KKN Students of the English Language Education Study Program FKIP, University of Subang which was carried out at SDN Kotasari, Pusakanagara aims to foster interest and attractiveness of participants in learning English and to find out the significant effect of the discussion on students' vocabulary skills. For this study, 20 participants participated in 3 experimental groups. A total of 20 participants were tested using the direct discussion method. The data collection used in this activity was that students were asked to write down lists of words that had been determined and then discussed to measure the amount of participant vocabulary mastery and field notes, carried out by documenting the English learning process and photos of activities during the teaching and learning process both before and when the action was carried out. . Based on the mentoring activities that have been carried out, it can be concluded that there was a change in the attitude of the participants from those who were less active, not enthusiastic and less involved to become more active, enthusiastic and willing to interact collaboratively during the mentoring activities the students became more active and enthusiastic about learning English with the method discussion and have a positive impact on vocabulary skills.

Abstract

Kegiatan KKNT PTM2D merupakan salah satu program yang dilakukan dalam rangka serentak bergerak, bersinergi dan berkolaborasi dalam membangun desa yang diselenggarakan oleh LLDIKTI Wilayah IV Jawa Barat dan Banten. Kelompok KKNT PTM2D Desa Dayeuhkolot ini diikuti oleh 7 perguruan tinggi dengan berbagai bidang ilmu yang beragam. Salah satu kegiatan yang kami lakukan yaitu di bidang Usaha Mikro, Kecil dan Menengah (UMKM) menjadi pusat perhatian karena kontribusinya yang besar dalam pertumbuhan ekonomi. Salah satu upaya yang dilakukan dalam mengatasi permasalahan ini adalah sosialisasi melalui kepala desa serta tokoh masyarakat dalam pemberdayaan. Contoh pemberdayaan masyarakat di Desa Dayeuhkolot adalah Industri Kripik Mak Acih. Tujuan pengabdian ini untuk mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis strategi pemberdayaan UMKM di Desa Dayeuhkolot Kabupaten Subang. Faktor-faktor pendukung dan penghambat yang ditemui dalam strategi pemberdayaan UMKM di Kabupaten Subang meliputi (1) membantu akses permodalan, (2) pembinaan SDM, (3) kemitraan (4) para stakeholder terkait Usaha Mikro, Kecil dan Menengah (UMKM) perlu melakukan pendampingan serta pemberdayaan secara terus menerus untuk memfasilitasi UMKM.

Abstract

This research aims to make a significant contribution to the understanding of constructivism in the context of education through an in-depth exploration of the use of technology in the learning process and its impact on the psychological well-being of students. The study employs a quantitative approach, utilizing structural equation modeling (SEM) and Partial Least Square (PLS) for analysis. The research participants consist of 100 university students in Malang, Indonesia, selected to complete an online questionnaire. The study results indicate that the integration of technology into the learning process has a positive and significant impact on students' psychological well-being. The application of constructivism theory as a conceptual foundation for understanding the influence of technology in learning demonstrates that students' interactive role in constructing knowledge has a substantial effect. The use of various platforms such as Google Drive, Google Docs, Microsoft Office, Zoom, Google Meet, Canvas, Moodle, Grammarly, and Mendeley creates a learning context that facilitates collaboration, active participation, and the development of students' social skills. In the context of students' mental well-being, technology helps alleviate burdens by providing flexibility in completing tasks, stimulating a sense of connection through collaboration, and offering psychological support.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the use of grammatical cohesive devices in the recount writing of 10th-grade students at SMAN 1 Puasakanagara Subang Subang. Employing a qualitative descriptive method, the analysis focused on six recount texts to identify the frequency of references, conjunctions, ellipses, and substitution. The results revealed that conjunctions were the most frequently used cohesive technique, with counts of 20, 13, 16, 17, 19, and 20. Ellipses appeared less frequently, with counts of 8, 9, 10, 8, and 9, while substitution was absent in all texts. References were the dominant device, showing counts of 30, 23, 18, 20, 25, and 23, with the highest percentage of 52% in text 1. These findings indicate that students effectively utilized references and conjunctions, enhancing the coherence of their writing. The limited use of ellipses and the absence of substitution suggest a preference for clarity in academic contexts. The study recommends that students focus on the logical and consistent application of cohesive devices to further improve the quality of their writing.

Abstract

Stunting prevalence reduction regularly becomes a strategic issue in development, not only in the regional context, but also nationally and even globally. It requires the government to initiate an intersectoral policy. The research aimed to explain the cross-cutting model programme, which was conducted by regional agents of the Subang Regency Government and governance elements, which combined with poverty reduction. Research used qualitative design which primary data was obtained from key actors of the Subang Regency Stunting Prevalence Reduction Acceleration Team. Data was processed to design a power and interest mapping, then a convergence model of regional agency and nongovernment organization. For secondary data, it was implemented to determine regional priority on policy implementation. Research results indicated that, based on the power and interest aspect, from 21 participants' observation, there were 3 regional agencies that occupied the players position, 4 regional agencies on the contest setter position, 12 regional agencies and several nongovernment agencies on the subject position, and 2 regional agencies occupied the crowd position. Practically, these participants applied convergency steps based on specific intervention, sensitive intervention, technical support, and administrative support. Abstract

Despite increased exposure to English in Indonesia’s digital era, speaking proficiency remains very limited among students. The 2024 EF English Proficiency Index highlights Indonesia’s relatively low ranking compared to other Asian countries like the Philippines and Malaysia. Since English-speaking proficiency is essential for global communication, personal growth, careers, and educational opportunities, understanding the factors that enhance it is crucial. This qualitative study explores factors enhancing English-speaking proficiency and identifies the most influential ones that help students become more proficient. Participants included three college students who consistently achieved high scores in their English-speaking class and their lecturer at Subang University. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and classroom observations. The findings reveal that age, positive attitudes, family support, personality, language exposure, teachers, and regular practice contribute to proficiency, with language exposure, personality, teachers, and regular practice being the most influential. This study provides insights to help students develop self-confidence, take risks, practice consistently, and openness to diverse language exposure, ultimately improving their English-speaking proficiency.

Abstract

Program serentak bergerak dalam membangun desa yang berkolaborasi dalam pembangunan desa, KKNT PM2D LLDIKTI wilayah IV Jawa Barat dan Banten, yang diikuti oleh 7 Perguruan Tinggi dengan ragam bidang ilmu, merupakan program yang diselenggarakan oleh LLDIKTI. Salah satu kegiatan yang diselenggarakan dalam bidang kesehatan yakni upaya dalam pencegahan dan pengendalian hipertensi. Upaya mencegah dan mengendalikan hipertensi dilakukan melalui kegiatan pemberdayaan kader, penyuluhan masyarakat, dan senam hipertensi. Kegiatan ini dilakukan pada tanggal 24 Agustus 2023. Kegiatan pemberdayaan kader membahas terkait penguatan posbindu PTM juga terkait pencegahan dan pengendalian hipertensi. Kegiatan pemberdayaan kader ini diikuti oleh kader Desa Dayeuhkolot di GOR Desa Dayeuhkolot. Kemudian kegiatan yang kedua yaitu penyuluhan masyarakat dan senam hipertensi yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kesadaran masyarakat terkait pencegahan dan pengendalian hipertensi juga meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat terkait aktivitas fisik sebagai salah satu cara dalam mencegah dan mengendalikan hipertensi. Kegiatan ini diselenggarakan di lapangan MDTA At-Taufiq 1 Desa Dayeuhkolot.
