Abstract

Population growth results in increasing demand for residential space and built-up land. This will have an impact on the environment, namely reducing the quality of green open spaces in carrying out ecological functions. As happened in Denpasar City, one of which is in the North Denpasar area. The availability of green open space in Denpasar City is dominated by private green open spaces originating from residential areas, namely residential yards. However, as in the Peguyangan Kangin Village Area, even though it is dominated by residential areas where land use is privately owned, the provision of private open space is actually very minimal. It is feared that this dynamic will have a negative impact on the surrounding environment in the future. Therefore, it is important to carry out this research with the aim of analyzing the quality of private green open space in terms of its ecological function and the availability of private green open space in the Peguyangan Kangin Village area. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The object of research will focus on private green open space in residential yards in Peguyangan Kangin Village. The research results show that in general the quality of private green open space in residential yards in the Peguyangan Kangin area is not optimal, both in terms of area and vegetation in carrying out ecological functions. The research results also show that there are several factors that influence the quality of private green open space, one of the most dominant of which is land availability.

Abstract

The village governance system in Bali is divided into two forms, namely Desa Dinas and Desa Pakraman. Desa Pakraman, as a traditional village with its leadership, has a strong influence on its residents, while Desa Dinas is limited to administrative matters. This causes an overlap in the leadership and authority of both Desa Dinas and Desa Pakraman. Peguyangan Sub-district is one that adopts this governance system, with two systems from Peguyangan Sub-district and Peguyangan Traditional Village. The governing subjects of Desa Dinas and Desa Pakraman are the same, which is the community of Peguyangan Sub-district, leading to an overlapping of governance in Peguyangan Sub-district. This research employs a qualitative method. The overlapping of Desa Dinas and Desa Pakraman governance is manifested in 1) the existence of the PKK overlapping with Banjar Istri, and 2) the use of traditional banjar apparatus for Desa Dinas activities.

Abstract

In Bali, proposing is a traditional craft that has been practiced for a long time. Weaving is now more than just a side job or a way to fill time, but has also developed into a creative industry. The process of intertwining warp and weft threads is known as monten. The weft threads are attached to the warp threads and attached to the loom, and the warp threads which, when connected, will produce a motif. This research uses three Literary Study research methods. The method for analyzing data systematically uses a summarized version of existing data, such as books, journals, or articles, in the classroom. Direct interviews with related parties in the Balinese endek woven fabric industry were used as a data collection method. Precedent Study, Surveying observers regarding architectural approaches for planning and designing a weaving craft center in Pejeng Kangin village and indirectly searching for other objects outside Bali via the internet are the methods used to collect data. The planning and design of the Weaving Craft Center in Pejeng Kangin Village, Bali has objectives that include helping tourism development and providing new innovations in the field of woven fabric centers, as well as providing learning about fabric processing. The weaving craft center in Pejeng Kangin village can have a positive impact on the community in the surrounding Pejeng Kangin village and help develop tourism, especially in Pejeng Kangin village.

Abstract

This study examines the role of Puputan Margarana Renon Square in supporting Denpasar’s development as a sustainable city through an urban architectural perspective encompassing urban form, urban structure, and urban function. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach, data were collected through field observations, visual documentation, and a literature review related to sustainable urban development and traditional Balinese architectural principles. The findings show that in terms of urban form, the square features a symmetrical configuration oriented toward the Bajra Sandhi Monument, reflecting the principles of Asta Kosala Kosali and Tri Hita Karana, which strengthen the visual identity and legibility of the city. From a structural perspective, the area comprises three key layers: an ecological structure formed by dense vegetation that functions as a green buffer and water infiltration zone; a circulation structure that supports sustainable mobility through pedestrian pathways and an integrated vehicular network; and a social structure that accommodates diverse community activities, including sports, cultural events, and traditional ceremonies. Functionally, Renon Square contributes to reducing local temperatures, improving air quality, enhancing social interaction, and reinforcing Denpasar’s architectural character. The study concludes that Renon Square is a strategic public space that significantly contributes to the environmental, social, and aesthetic sustainability of Denpasar. Recommendations emphasize strengthening public space management to support future sustainable urban development.

Abstract

Taman Ayun Temple is one of the grandest temples in Bali, which has been designated as a World Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO since 2012. This designation significantly influenced the tourist attraction dynamics based on the 4A components: attraction, accessibility, amenities, and ancillary services. This study aims to analyze the existing condition of these components within and around the site using a descriptive qualitative methodology. Data were collected through direct field observations and comprehensive surveys conducted by the researcher, alongside literature reviews and in-depth interviews with the temple management. The findings indicate that while the historical attractions, layout, and structural authenticity remain highly appealing and deeply rooted in the Tri Mandala spatial concept, certain challenges exist. Based on the primary survey, issues such as material weathering from natural aging, uneven paving on pedestrian access roads, a lack of comprehensive localized informational signage for facilities, and English communication limitations among local vendors and staff were identified. Continuous periodic maintenance, strategic infrastructural upgrades, and language capacity building are essential to sustaining the site's global prominence and preserving its architectural heritage.

Abstract

Waste management remains a major environmental issue in Indonesia, as indicated by the high proportion of unmanaged waste, particularly in Bali Province and Tabanan Regency. Based on SIPSN data in 2024, Tabanan Regency shows a relatively high percentage of unmanaged waste compared to other Sarbagita regions, while limited availability and distribution of TPS3R facilities have hindered optimal waste management. This study aims to plan and design an Integrated Waste Processing Facility in Tabanan Regency that functions not only as a waste treatment center but also as an environmental education facility. The research method includes secondary data collection through literature review and SIPSN data, as well as primary data obtained from field observations and interviews with TPS3R managers, followed by quantitative and qualitative analysis. The results propose a design concept based on ecological architecture and the 3R principles (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), emphasizing efficient mass arrangement, the use of environmentally friendly materials, natural lighting and ventilation, and the provision of public and educational spaces to support sustainable waste management in Tabanan Regency.
