Abstract

Teknologi penginderaan jauh saat ini telah mengalami perkembangan pesat, yang memungkinkan pemantauan lingkungan perairan maupun daratan. Salah satu wilayah di Maluku yang memiliki kelimpahan ekosistem lamun adalah perairan pantai Suli-Tial, Pulau Ambon.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memetakan distribusi lamun di perairan pantai Suli dan Tial, Pulau Ambon, menggunakan citra satelit Sentinel-2A. Pengolahan data dilakukan pada bulan Maret 2023 dengan menerapkan serangkaian analisis, termasuk koreksi atmosferik, pemotongan citra (cropping), masking, koreksi kolom air, klasifikasi maximum likelihood, dan uji akurasi menggunakan confusion matrix. Nilai kikj untuk kombinasi band 2 dan 3, band 2 dan 4, serta band 3 dan 4 masing-masing adalah 1,004; 1,007; dan 1,004. Sebaran lamun diklasifikasikan menjadi tiga kelas, yaitu tutupan sangat padat, padat, dan jarang, dengan luas masing-masing 500.000 m², 500.000 m², dan 700.000 m². Hasil klasifikasi menunjukkan bahwa total luas tutupan lamun mencapai 1.700.000 m². Hasil ini memberikan informasi penting untuk pengelolaan ekosistem lamun di wilayah studi.

Abstract

Utilization of the mangrove ecosystem in West Muna Regency is widely used as firewood, building materials, and other infrastructure development. This utilization has an impact on reducing the area and density of the mangrove ecosystem, thereby reducing the functions and benefits of the mangrove ecosystem. Community participation is very necessary in the sustainable management of mangrove ecosystems. This can happen if the government and the community understand well about the functions and benefits of the mangrove ecosystem for people's lives. This community service activity is a form of independent service as an effort to apply knowledge to advance people's lives through sustainable mangrove ecosystem management. The socialization was carried out using a discussion method with the village government and key figures who played a role in policy making in Latawe Village, West Muna Regency. This service activity provides a deep understanding to the community regarding the introduction of mangrove species, the benefits and importance of conserving the mangrove ecosystem. This is indicated by the follow-up from the village government and community leaders to rehabilitate mangroves on critical lands by involving the full participation of the community. The acquisition of seeds for rehabilitation is carried out independently by the community with funding assistance from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries through the Directorate General of Marine Spatial Management and Small Islands. Service activities will continue by continuing to provide direct and indirect assistance in rehabilitation activities starting from determining the location, selecting seeds, sowing seeds, and rehabilitation techniques

Abstract

Penelitian morfometrik lamun membantu dalam memahami variasi antara spesies lamun dan adaptasi lamun terhadap lingkungan yang krusial untuk melindungi dan melestarikan ekosistem lamun serta memahami peran mereka dalam ekosistem pesisir. Penelitian ini mempunyai tujuan untuk mengetahui morfometrik beberapa jenis lamun di perairan pantai Halong dan pantai Tanjung Tiram, Teluk Ambon Dalam. Pengambilan data dilakukan pada bulan Agustus 2023 di kedua lokasi tersebut. Pengambilan sampel lamun dimulai dengan plot lokasi menggunakan GPS kemudian bagian tubuh lamun diambil secara utuh dengan tiga individu per jenis. Morfometrik pada lamun Enhalus acoroides dan Thalassia hemprichii memiliki perbedaan yang signifikan pada bagian lebar daun, panjang akar dan rhizoma antara yang hidup di Tanjung Tiram dengan Pantai Halong.

Abstract

The introduction of marine ecosystems to school children, especially those in junior high school (SMP), plays an important role in environmental education. The aim of this service is to provide knowledge to Dian Harapan Middle School students regarding marine ecosystems and the various organisms that live in them. This community service activity at Dian Harapan Middle School will be held on Thursday, April 4 2024.  This activity was attended by 149 students from classes 7A, 7B, 8A, 8B, 9A, and 9B. This service activity is carried out through several stages, namely licensing in the form of coordination with the school, preparation in the form of making presentation materials, implementation in the form of providing material about marine ecosystems, quizzes, introduction to biota samples and tools for measuring environmental parameters, evaluation in the form of pre-test and post-test answers. test and closing by holding a group photo session. Middle School students at Dian Harapan School are getting to know and know more about marine ecosystems, so it is important to preserve natural resources in the sea.

Abstract

Pengenalan tentang ekosistem laut kepada generasi muda seperti di Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) memegang peran penting dalam peningkatan literasi sains. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan literasi sains para siswa SMP 8 Ambon terkait ekosistem laut. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat di SMP 8 Ambon ini dilaksanakan pada hari Jumat, 30 Agustus 2024. Kegiatan ini diikuti sebanyak 40 siswa yang terdari kelas XI-1 dan XI-2. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan melalui beberapa tahapan yaitu perizinan berupa koordinasi dengan pihak sekolah, persiapan berupa pembuatan materi presentasi, pelaksanaan berupa pemberian materi tentang ekosistem laut, evaluasi berupa hasil jawaban pre-test dan post-test serta pemberian hadiah bagi siswa yang bisa menjawab pertanyaan dengan benar. Siswa SMP Sekolah Dian Harapan semakin mengenal dan mengetahui tentang ekosistem laut sehingga penting untuk dijaga kelestarian sumber daya alam di laut. Hasil kegiatan ini diharapkan bahwa literasi sains Siswa SMP Negeri 8 Ambon terkait ekosistem laut semakin meningkat sehingga dapat menjaga serta melestarikan sumber daya alam di laut.

Abstract

Logam berat timbal (Pb) merupakan jenis bahan pencemar yang banyak ditemukan di perairan tawar maupun laut. Lamun berfungsi sebagai fitoremediator yang membersihkan air laut dengan menyerap logam terlarut. Perairan.Kupa-Kupa merupaka bagian wilayah pesisir yang mengalami tekanan yang signifikan dari berbagai aktivitas antropogenik. Oleh sebab itu, kajian untuk menganalisa konsentrasi Pb pada lamun, air dan sedimen pada lokasi tersebut penting untuk dilakukan sebagai salah satu cara untuk menilai kualitas dan kesehatan lingkungan perairan pesisir. Riset ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Juli - Agustus 2023. Penentuan lokasi pengambilan sampel dilakukan menggunakan metode purposive sampling di mana area riset dipetakan menjadi 5 stasiun. Penelitian yang dilakukan di Pantai Kupa-Kupa, menunjukkan bahwa meskipun parameter kualitas air meliputi suhu, salinitas, dan oksigen terlarut masih berada dalam kisaran optimal untuk mendukung kehidupan biota air tetapi konsentrasi timbal (Pb) di air laut telah melebihi ambang batas standar baku mutu yang ditetapkan oleh Peraturan Pemerintah No. 22 Tahun 2021 dan SEPA 2000 yaitu 3,62-46,67 mg/l. Konsentrasi timbal pada sedimen masih berada dalam batas aman yaitu 3,81-10,05 mg/l, sedangkan konsentrasi pada lamun Enhalus acoroides menunjukkan akumulasi logam berat yang cukup signifikan dengan karakteristik bioakumulator pada beberapa lokasi penelitian yaitu sebesar 3,42-6,92 mg/l.

Abstract

Fish farming is an activity that contributes to family income and welfare, where fishery commodities are produced in a controlled environment by utilizing the principles of aquatic ecosystems. Carp is the most popular freshwater fish commodity, so many of them are produced using the minapadi system. Therefore, this research aims to describe the profile of goldfish cultivators using the minapadi system and its potential in North Toraja Regency, South Sulawesi Province. This research was conducted in June 2023 in 5 sub-districts, namely Tikala, Rantepao, Sopai, Tondon, and Nanggala, North Toraja Regency, South Sulawesi Province. Data collection was carried out using respondent interview methods and field observations. Determining respondents was carried out using a purposive sampling method and the number of respondents was obtained using the snowball technique, where data was taken from 85 carp farmers using the minapadi system. The results of the research show that goldfish cultivators using the minapadi system in North Toraja Regency are predominantly aged 22-55 years, with a high school education, several family members of 1-9 people and 67.06% of cultivators have not/are not registered with KUSUKA status. For the potentian goldfish farms, farmers have their own land ownership status, farm area < 10,000 m2 to > 10,000 m2, minimum production of 20 kg/cycle to > 100 kg/cycle, and income of IDR. 1,000,000 to >Rp. 10,000,000 per year.

Abstract

 Climate change is a global threat whose impacts are felt in various sectors including marine ecosystems and coastal communities. Increasing sea surface temperatures, rising sea levels are some of the significant impacts of climate change. The socialization of environmental literacy about climate change and its impacts on marine ecosystems and coastal communities for students of Senior High School (SMA) 9 Ambon aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of climate change issues, and to increase student knowledge and skills to adapt and reduce the negative impacts of climate change. This community service (PKM) activity was carried out by lecturer staf of Marine Science Department of Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, Pattimura University, Ambon on February 14, 2025, attended by 60 participants and 4 members of the Socialization Team. The socialization method used was lectures. Evaluation was carried out through questionnaires and discussions during the activity. As many as 85% of students had a very good level of understanding of the material provided. Student enthusiasm was very high in participating in this socialization activity. It is hoped that this activity can be carried out continuously for students in various high schools on Ambon Island.

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystems have an important role in mitigating climate change through carbon sequestration. This study aims to determine the blue carbon potential of mangroves on the coast of West Muna. The research was conducted by measuring mangroves density using the quadratic transect method (10 m x 10 m) and measuring stem diameter (DBH). The values ​​of carbon stock and carbon absorption were analyzed based on the biomass values ​​calculated using the allometric equation of each mangrove species. The results showed that the total biomass, stock, and carbon absorption of mangroves on the coastal areas of West Muna were 211.9 tones/ha, 99.21 tones C/ha and 363.77 tones CO2-eq/ha. The largest contributors to total biomass, stock, and carbon sequestration are R. stylosa and S. alba species. In contrast, the species with the lowest contributors are B. cylindrica and B. gymnorrhiza. Differences in the ability to store carbon in each species are influenced by the structure of the mangrove community, including density, stem diameter and root type. Mangroves of the Rhizophora species have good carbon absorption capabilities. Besides that, it can also adapt well to the environment, so it is very good to be managed and bred in climate change mitigation efforts.

Abstract

Pengelolaan ekosistem mangrove umumnya terdiri dari pengelolaan konservatif dan pengelolaan destruktif. Salah satu pengelolaan destruktif yang paling berpengaruh terhadap degradasi mangrove adalah alih fungsi lahan menjadi tambak. Penyerapan karbon mangrove menurun dan emisi gas rumah kaca meningkat seiring dengan konversi mangrove. Disisi lain, manfaat ekonomi dari kegiatan tambak sangat menjanjikan bagi pelaku usaha. Perdebatan antara mempertahankan ekologi atau mengutamakan keuntungan ekonomi terus bergulir. Analisis ini bertujuan untuk menentukan proporsional alih fungsi lahan mangrove menjadi tambak dalam perspektif mitigasi perubahan iklim. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa alih fungsi lahan mangrove menjadi tambak pada proporsi tersebut dapat dilakukan pertimbangan keuntungan ekonomi dengan tetap menjaga optimasi fungsi penyerapan karbon. Stok karbon yang hilang akibat konversi dapat diperoleh melalui budidaya tambak udang. Kegiatan budidaya mampu menyerap CO2 hingga 25% dari serapan karbon mangrove melalui penyerapan fitoplankton. Selain itu, emisi gas CH4 yang dihasilkan tambak tradisional, semi intensif, dan intensif juga relatif rendah yaitu berkisar 0.0009 – 0.0264 mg m2 ha-1. Stok karbon mangrove yang dapat dikonversi menjadi tambak yang memiliki nilai karbon awal sebesar 261.9-490.12 Mg C ha-1 adalah 99.82-227.03 Mg C ha-1. Konversi tersebut dapat dilakukan untuk pembukaan lahan atau pengembangan kawasan budidaya. Namun apabila nilai stok karbon pada suatu ekosistem lebih rendah dari nilai stok karbon minimal (<261,9 Mg C ha-1) maka kegiatan budidaya dapat dilakukan pada lahan eksisting dan tidak melakukan konversi mangrove, sebaliknya harus dilakukan rehabilitasi mangrove sehingga stok karbon dapat meningkat. Jenis spesies mangrove yang direkomendasikan untuk direhabilitasi adalah R. stylosa, R. apiculata. dan R. mucronata.Â
