Abstract

The equipment technology on board ships has developed increasingly sophisticated and modern. The development of this technology can not only prevent ships from accidents while working. Several main factors cause workplace accidents, such as internal and external factors. This research aims to determine the optimization of the implementation of work safety on ships. The government implements regulations regarding work safety and security on ships. International organizations such as the International Maritime Organization (IMO) also put pressure on all companies in the global world to pay attention to the safety of ship crews. This research was conducted on a cement ship for 12 months. This research is included in qualitative research using interview and observation methods. The population in this study was 22 people, with a sample size of 9 people. The research results show that the ship's crew has carried out safety procedures well and ensured that the existing safety equipment is always in complete and good condition.

Abstract

Learning satisfaction is a main factor determining students' academic success and psychological well-being. Positive psychology is a branch of psychology that emphasizes strengthening positive aspects in individuals, such as positive emotions, happiness, and optimism. This study uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method to identify and analyze relevant literature on positive psychology interventions in improving learning satisfaction. The results of this study are: 1) Positive psychology interventions have a significant impact on students' learning satisfaction; 2) Gratitude exercises, mindfulness, happiness interventions, strength-based approaches, and social support be effective in enhancing more positive learning experiences; and 3) The implications of this study emphasize the importance of integrating positive psychology strategies into the curriculum and education policies to create a healthier learning environment and support student well-being.

Abstract

The shipping world is one of the means of sea transportation engaged in the shipping sector. When we sail at night, it takes skill in using electronic navigation devices, the use of electronic navigation devices is not only in poor conditions and when visibility is limited to cause a risk of collision when the ship is sailing at night but also helps officers on board in determining the course, position, distance of the ship with objects around the ship. This study uses a qualitative explanatory approach to understand the phenomena that enter through non-numerical data analysis. The results of this study are: 1) Procedures for using electronic navigation devices on KM. Hijau Segar include preparation of navigation devices, operation of devices, monitoring during sailing, handling disturbances, closing and storage; and 2) Obstacles and solutions to prevent disturbances in navigation devices on KM. Hijau Segar include technical obstacles, environmental disturbances, signal disturbances, limited human resources, power outages.

Abstract

Background: The maritime sector is undergoing a major transition as the IMO 2050 decarbonization agenda requires significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. This shift demands a new generation of marine engineers equipped with competencies in alternative fuels, emissions management, and sustainable engineering practices. However, Indonesian maritime vocational education has limited evidence-based pedagogical models for preparing students to meet these emerging industry expectations. Aim: This study examines how technology-supported project-based learning (PBL) focused on maritime decarbonization fosters the development of green marine engineering competencies and shapes the professional identity of future maritime engineers. Methods: Using an interpretive phenomenological design, the research engaged 20 marine engineering students, 5 instructors, and 6 industry practitioners over a 16-week learning cycle. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, reflective journals, and project artefacts, then analyzed using Braun and Clarke’s thematic analysis. Results: Five principal themes emerged: development of systemic understanding of decarbonization technologies; collaborative construction of knowledge through distributed expertise; emergence of environmentally oriented professional identity; productive struggle as a catalyst for deep learning; and authenticity strengthened by industry involvement. Quantitative results showed notable gains in GMECI indicators, including alternative fuel knowledge (+28.8%), energy efficiency (+26.4%), environmental compliance (+24.8%), and sustainable problem-solving (+28.1%). Conclusion: Technology-integrated PBL effectively builds multidimensional green engineering competencies and provides a strong pedagogical foundation for MARPOL-aligned curriculum reform in Indonesian maritime vocational education.
