Abstract

This research aims to describe in detail the errors of students in doing TIMSS question and describe the factors that cause students to experience errors in the TIMSS for reasoning category in 8th grade. The research using descriptive qualitative approach. The subjects were 8th-grade students of SMP Al-Karimah Surabaya Data collection techniques used include tests, interviews, and documentation. While the object in this research is the test results of students of class VIII SMP Al-Karimah Surabaya in working TIMSS in Mathematics 2011 for the category of reasoning. The results of the error analysis of students in TIMSS 2011 can be summarized as follows: mistakes made by students are grouped into 3 types: a) Concept errors, b) Errors procedures, and c) Calculation error. In doing the TIMSS 2011 on reasoning category, the type of error that most students experience is a mistake in understanding the concept.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to describe the definition and characteristics of critical thinking disposition, mathematics learning in the independent curriculum, and to analyze the urgency of critical thinking disposition in mathematics learning, especially in the application of mathematics learning in the independent curriculum. This research is descriptive research using the systematic literature review method through searching for accurate and relevant references, namely articles, books, and other relevant sources. From the results of the analysis, it is concluded that the urgency of critical thinking disposition in mathematics learning in the independent curriculum can be seen from several dimensions of the Pancasila student profile, especially the critical reasoning dimension which involves critical thinking disposition and needs to be built optimally and balanced in mathematics learning; the things that are emphasized in mathematics learning in the independent curriculum and involve critical thinking disposition include mathematical problem solving activities, student independence in understanding the mathematics material, and discussion and collaboration activities; mathematics learning models in the independent curriculum that direct students to involve critical thinking disposition; and projects to strengthen the Pancasila student profile in mathematics learning which involve critical thinking disposition in activities and their assessments

Abstract

This act of community service in the form of a workshop for senior high school teachers was to enhance the participants’ professionalism in teaching in the 21st century. The integration of technology is unavoidable. Therefore, this workshop is aimed at introducing one of the Learning Management Systems (LMS) named Nearpod that can help teachers teach effectively. The method used in this community service activity is Service Learning (SL) which consists of planning and preparation stage, implementation stage, and evaluation stage. In the planning and preparation stage, there are problem identification activities, distributing questionnaires about teacher’s teaching habits and pretest. The implementation stage consists of material delivery session, demonstration, practice, discussion, and assignments. Then, the evaluation stage through committee discussions that consider the results of the pretest and posttest as well as the satisfaction questionnaire that has been distributed to participants. 96 workshop participants, who are senior high school teachers in various regions of East Java Province, gave a positive response to the implementation of this workshop. There was an increase in the percentage score for the pretest (57,6%) and posttest (85,4%), which shows that there was an increase in teacher understanding and skills after attending the workshop, namely 27,8%. To conclude, this workshop activity is considered very useful for teachers in improving the quality of learning and developing teaching professionalism, especially in designing teaching and learning activities for Gen Z.

Abstract

Kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan pengajuan masalah matematis merupakan dua kompetensi penting yang harus dimiliki oleh calon guru matematika dalam menghadapi tantangan pembelajaran abad ke-21. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan pengajuan masalah matematis mahasiswa calon guru matematika. Metodologi penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Subjek penelitian sebanyak 3 orang dengan 1 subjek berkemampuan rendah, 1 subjek berkemampuan sedang, dan 1 subjek berkemampuan tinggi. Pemilihan subjek didasarkan pada hasil Indeks Prestasi Kumulatif (IPK) mahasiswa. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan metode tes. Analisis datanya menggunakan analisis data kualitatif dengan tiga tahapan yaitu kondensasi data, penyajian data, penarikan dan verifikasi data. Hasil dari peneltian ini menunjukkan bahwa subjek dengan kemampuan rendah dan sedang tidak mampu memecahkan masalah matematis yang diberikan dengan benar sedangkan subjek dengan kemampuan tinggi mampu memecahkan masalah dengan jawaban yang benar. Subjek dengan kemampuan rendah dan sedang mengajukan masalah dengan kategori rendah sedangkan subjek dengan kemampuan tinggi mengajukan masalah dengan kategori sangat tinggi. Temuan ini memberikan gambaran penting bagi pendidik dan program pendidikan guru untuk merancang strategi pembelajaran yang lebih efektif dalam mengembangkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan pengajuan masalah matematis calon guru matematika.

Abstract

IT-based mathematics learning media integrated with AI hold substantial potential in education. However, such media have not been widely implemented in Indonesian schools, particularly at the elementary level. In fact, one of the supporting aspects of the deep learning approach is the use of digital technology, which is closely related to digital literacy as a key 21st-century competency that students must acquire. This study aims to develop interactive mathematics learning media using GeoGebra integrated with AI (ChatGPT) to enhance students’ digital literacy and support AI-based deep learning in mathematics, specifically on the topic of the elements and nets of cube and cuboid for grade V elementary students. ChatGPT is use alongside GeoGebra in helping students understand the concepts: GeoGebra facilitated visualization and interactive simulation, while ChatGPT supports conceptual exploration and reflection. This research is a Research and Development (R&D) design using the ADDIE development model. The study was conducted at SD Muhammadiyah 15 Surabaya. The results indicate that the developed media are highly valid, with a validity score of 3.95, and highly practical, with a practicality score of 3.38. In line with the deep learning approach principles: students were able to discover the concepts of elements and nets of cube and cuboid independently and enjoyably through the integration of GeoGebra and ChatGPT (joyful learning). Consequently, the knowledge acquired by the students became meaningful (meaningful learning) and they were able to realize the learning objectives because they were deeply engaged in the process of conceptual discovery (mindful learning).
