Abstract

Quality education is not solely determined by academic performance but also by the mental and emotional well-being of students. One effective approach to improving such well-being is through mindfulness. This study aims to analyze the implementation of mindfulness in education, particularly in the Indonesian context, and its impact on students' mental health, academic performance, and social skills. Using a meta-analysis method, this research integrates findings from various empirical studies published between 2015 and 2024, focusing on the effectiveness of mindfulness-based programs. The results indicate that mindfulness significantly reduces anxiety (Cohen’s d = 0.78), improves focus, and enhances students’ social skills (Cohen’s d = 0.72), although its impact on academic performance is moderate (Cohen’s d = 0.54). These findings highlight the potential of mindfulness programs in fostering holistic education. However, challenges such as teacher training and cultural adaptation need to be addressed. This study recommends integrating mindfulness into Indonesia’s educational system to create a balanced, inclusive, and sustainable learning environment.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the strengthening of character education based on tradition at Pesantren An-Nuqthah. As a traditional Islamic educational institution, pesantren plays an essential role in shaping students' character through long-standing traditions. Values such as respecting teachers (ta'dzim), discipline in worship, and simple communal living form the foundation for character development. This research employs a qualitative case study approach, using in-depth interviews with teachers and students. The findings reveal that pesantren traditions effectively build students' noble character. However, challenges from modernization and the use of technology, especially social media, affect students' focus on character education. Nonetheless, the pesantren strives to stay relevant by balancing traditional values with the wise use of technology. This research is expected to provide insights into strengthening character education for students in the modern era.

Abstract

This study examines the rejection of the relocation policy stipulated in PERBUP Kabupaten Tangerang No. 60 of 2016 by traders in the Cisoka District. Findings indicate that the majority of traders oppose the policy due to the prohibition of street vendors (PKL) in the new market and the imposition of fees for public access. This situation significantly impacts the traders' income, potentially lowering their standard of living. The rejection reflects human rights issues, specifically the traders' right to work and earn a decent living. Dissatisfaction arises from a policy that lacks support and imposes access fees on the public. The study emphasizes the importance of involving traders in the formulation of policies affecting their livelihoods. The government is urged to review the relocation policy to be more inclusive and consider the aspirations and needs of the community. Overall, this research provides insights into the negative impacts of relocation policies that do not take into account the needs and rights of traders, highlighting the necessity of a fairer and more sustainable approach in policy-making to support the overall welfare of the community.

Abstract

This study examines the challenges of cultural preservation faced by the Muyu Tribe in South Papua amidst modernization, focusing on socio- cultural dynamics and indigenous adaptation strategies. The research addresses key issues including cultural value erosion, transformation of traditional knowledge systems, and tensions between customary institutions and modern governance structures. Employing a qualitative approach with systematic literature review methodology, Findings reveal that the Muyu Tribe maintains cultural resilience through three primary mechanisms: (1) reinterpretation of traditional values in modern contexts, (2) adaptation of customary institutions, and (3) innovation in intergenerational cultural transmission. Major challenges stem from culturally insensitive infrastructure development and limited community participation in development planning. The study emphasizes the need for rights-based cultural preservation approaches that integrate local wisdom with sustainable development, along with strengthening customary institutions' capacity in development governance. These findings contribute theoretically to development anthropology studies and offer practical implications for cultural policy formulation in indigenous territories.
