Abstract

Because of traditional and passive teaching methods in mathematics, most people view math as a strange and uninteresting subject. Discover Learning as a student-centered learning method is easily seen where the answers come from; it simply allows students to explore topics on their own. The higher their participation in teaching, the more it supports them in thinking critically. The research method is a qualitative literature review, based on various studies on the use of Discover Learning in mathematics teaching. Data analysis was conducted to assess this approach for learning interest and to test students' critical thinking skills. This research found that, in addition to deepening students' understanding of mathematical concepts, Discover Learning encourages them to be more active in their learning. Elementary school students may benefit from Discovery Learning as this approach also supports cognitive growth in line with their developmental stage. However, there are several obstacles to implementing this strategy, including a lack of resources, time, and differences in students' learning styles. However, as long as teachers make the necessary modifications, discovery learning may still be a useful strategy to enhance the quality of mathematics teaching.

Abstract

Permasalahan limbah minyak jelantah yang mencemari lingkungan menjadi isu penting di Desa Bayem Taman. Di sisi lain, rendahnya partisipasi perempuan dalam kegiatan ekonomi produktif masih menjadi tantangan. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan perempuan desa melalui pelatihan pembuatan lilin aromaterapi berbahan dasar minyak jelantah. Metode yang digunakan adalah Participatory Action Research (PAR), yang menekankan keterlibatan aktif peserta sejak tahap identifikasi masalah, perencanaan, pelaksanaan, hingga evaluasi. Sasaran kegiatan adalah ibu-ibu PKK yang dilatih secara langsung dalam proses produksi lilin mulai dari pengolahan minyak bekas hingga pencetakan produk akhir. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta dalam mengolah limbah menjadi produk bernilai jual. Selain itu, kegiatan ini juga mendorong kesadaran lingkungan dan potensi ekonomi kreatif berbasis rumah tangga. Lilin aromaterapi yang dihasilkan tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai pengharum ruangan alami, tetapi juga sebagai simbol inovasi lokal yang ramah lingkungan. Kegiatan ini penting karena mampu memberikan solusi ganda terhadap isu lingkungan dan pemberdayaan ekonomi perempuan. Dengan dukungan berkelanjutan, inovasi ini berpotensi menjadi usaha mandiri yang berkelanjutan di tingkat desa.

Abstract

This research refers to making an IoT-based movement system tool. This system is used to calculate the number of human movements entering a room and also people leaving the room. In this study, a Passive Infrared Receiver (PIR) sensor is used to detect the movement of people when entering a room. The sensor will trigger a calculation of the number of people passing through the device, equipped with NodeMCU ESP 8266 as a microcontroller, with NodeMCU ESP 8266 it is more efficient to connect to the WiFi module on the Internet of Things system without the need for other modules. The tool is also equipped with an LED light as a notification of movement, an indicator buzzer if the room is fully filled, and there is also a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) which is used to display the number of human movements entering and leaving the room, as well as the people who are in the room. The sensitivity of the PIR sensor depends on the distance of the object to the sensor. The research is running well. Notifications from the LED light go according to their duties, if someone enters the room then LED 1 will light ON, and if someone leaves the room then LED 2 will light ON. The results of the application in detecting objects of people or visitors one by one are conditioned based on walking movements and based on a person's height posture from 150 cm to 170 cm the accuracy of the object is accurate, because the distance from the object to the The tool is not too far so the tool can easily detect its movement.
