Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

MAPS Perak (Movie Animation Park Studio of Perak) is a theme park in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia which was created from a joint venture between Perak Corporation Berhad and the Sanderson Group. It was originally planned to be opened in 2015, but the opening date was delayed to 26 June 2017. The theme park is the first fully animation-based theme park in Asia which contains attractions based on animations such as DreamWorks Animation and The Smurfs and was built at the cost of RM520 million. It houses both international and homegrown (Malaysian) Intellectual Properties including DreamWorks characters, The Smurfs and BoBoiBoy and have more than 40 attractions in six themed zones. This is the first theme park in Malaysia that portray or using local animation as the theme of the amusement park. The purpose of the project is to discuss the problems faced by the Movies Animation Park Studios (MAPS) Perak from different perspectives such as financially, marketing and politics. This project also aims to suggest a solution to Movies Animation Park Studios (MAPS) Perak regarding these problems. Knowing and understanding the wider what is the cause of the company facing these problems. And also gives pro and cons about each decision make by this company when the company facing the problem. The methodology that we will use in this research is the primary method and secondary method. The primary method is when the data we collected directly from the owner or the owns of the data. This is different from the secondary method, which is the secondary method we get the data from the other resources which are carried out by other people. An example primary method by interviewing the manager and the staff of MAPS to make some surveys for our research. We do this interview by phone. Example of the secondary method is by doing research by collecting the data from their website and the other information. For our company cases, the problems with MAPS, Perak Malaysia are their awareness is low which means their marketing is not strategic in terms of costs and do not give high impact to the sales. Moreover, the price ticket that they offer for a customer is very expensive and did not worth the money and achieve customer expectations. The games in the theme park are not satisfying with. So the price is not a great deal to attract the outsider. Besides, this company also have faced the political issue which is Malaysia’s government has advice MAPS to close down this theme park because they have too much liability and they couldn’t afford it.

Abstract

The hydrolytic stability of oriented strand board (OSB) is critical to guarantee good performance in humid conditions over the long term. The adhesive system impacts hydrolytic stability in addition to the wood strands. This study aims to investigate the hydrolytic stability of OSB bonded with a hybrid adhesive based on phenol-formaldehyde (PF) and polymeric methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (pMDI) modified with NaOH and CaCO3 catalyst. PF was mixed with each catalyst at approximately 1% of the PF solids content. The pMDI was added to the mixture at 2.5% and 5% of the PF solid content. The hybrid PF/pMDI adhesives were then used for OSB production. The hydrolytic stability of OSB samples was tested at 25°C and 100°C and compared with OSB using unmodified PF as a control. After hydrolysis, OSBs with hybrid PF/pMDI adhesives had lower weight loss than control adhesives at both temperatures. The pH indicates no significant polymer dissolution from the board into the hydrolysis solution. Hybrid PF/pMDI adhesives with a CaCO3 catalyst obtain significantly lower thickness swelling values. The findings of this study have significant implications for developing high-performance, environmentally-friendly OSB products. Keywords: eco-friendly composite, hydrolytic stability, oriented strand board, Paraserianthes falcataria, phenol-formaldehyde

Abstract

Background: The synergistic association between oral cavity disorders and airway disorders in smokers has long been recognized. Periodontal disease and airway obstruction are 20 times more likely in smokers. Smoking causes increased inflammatory cytokines in the oral mucosa; generally, airway obstruction has been associated with increased inflammatory markers in the airway mucosa. This study developed a prototype to visualize smokers' oral mucosa to identify potential airway obstruction disease. Methods: This study collected many types of oral mucosal lesions that are typically found in smokers, such as leukoplakia, nicotinic stomatitis, black hairy tongue, oral cancer, and smoker melanosis, from various literature and images of the mucosa of patients with a history of smoking who were treated at the hospital. The data is divided into a training, validation, and testing set and then using the PyTorch framework and the UltraLytics library. Results: This study created a prototype of an endoscope that can detect lesions on the oral mucosa-related airway obstruction disease. Sixty-three percent of the respondents who underwent prototype testing were between the ages of twenty-one and thirty. Of those who smoked, 86% had done so for five to ten years. Sixty percent of the respondents had no COPD diagnosis. The sensitivity of the prototype demonstrated a high rate of 84%. However, the specificity exhibited 57.14%.Conclusion: Endoscopic detection of the oral mucosa can be used for early screening of suspected obstructive airway disorders in smokers. This tool could enhance screening for smoking's effects on the mouth and prevent early obstructive airway diseases.
