Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of gratitude in enhancing the psychological well-being of healthcare workers during times of crisis, particularly within the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Using a qualitative approach through literature review and thematic analysis, the study finds that gratitude positively contributes to aspects of psychological well-being such as self-acceptance, life purpose, personal growth, and positive relationships with others. Gratitude also functions as an adaptive coping mechanism that strengthens the mental resilience of healthcare workers in facing work-related stress and high emotional risks. These findings highlight the importance of gratitude-based psychological interventions to support the mental health of healthcare professionals during crises.

Abstract

Low mental health literacy and strong stigma against individuals with mental disorders remain significant barriers to psychological help-seeking behavior in rural communities. This study aims to develop a community-based intervention model to improve mental health literacy and strengthen local support systems in a village context. An action research approach was applied, involving the active participation of residents from a rural village. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, focused group interviews (FGIs), and participatory observations with 30 participants, including youth, health cadres, community leaders, and local officials.Thematic analysis was conducted through processes of coding, categorization, and contextual interpretation. The findings reveal that mental health literacy in the village community is still limited, marked by a lack of understanding of psychological symptoms, prevailing misconceptions about the causes of mental illness, and continued reliance on non-medical approaches. Interventions such as cadre training, advocacy with village authorities, and the establishment of a youth health post (Posyandu Remaja) contributed meaningfully to enhancing awareness and shifting attitudes toward mental health. This study contributes to the development of a collaborative, community-driven model that can be adapted to similar rural contexts to support mental health promotion efforts. It also extends theoretical perspectives by integrating mental health literacy, ecological systems theory, and participatory approaches as effective strategies for grassroots mental health prevention and care.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the description of the psychological well-being of health workers during the co-19 pandemic, and to find out the factors that can influence it. The informants in this study totaled 6 people. Informants were selected based on the 42-item Ryff psychological well-being scale score that had previously been distributed in advance, and could reach 96 health worker respondents. Of the 96 respondents, 6 subjects were selected based on their level of psychological well-being, namely 3 subjects with high psychological well-being, and 3 subjects with low psychological well-being. The research was conducted using a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Interviews were conducted using an interview guide prepared by the researcher. Data analysis was conducted using interpretative phenomenological analysis. From the results of the analysis, it was found that the psychological well-being of health workers during the Covid-19 pandemic can be influenced by the social support received, the way the subject overcomes the problems faced, and the gratitude he has for his life.
