Abstract

Physics education at the junior high school level is often faced withdifficulties in approaching students with abstract concepts. Project-basedlearning modules are considered a contextual and relevant approach toeveryday life, allowing students to learn actively through project activities. Thisresearch uses the natural observation method involving physics teachers andstudents of SMPN 4 Metro. The natural observation method in itsimplementation uses observation sheet instruments and interview sheets.This article optimizes the concept of optimizing the project-based learningmodule which is used as an effective strategy in helping understand conceptsin physics learning at SMPN 4 Metro. The results of the literature review showthat students' understanding of physics concepts will increase and beeffective if physics learning uses project-based modules. This needs to beoptimized in its application to learning as a learning resource. So there is aneed for further studies and research regarding the effectiveness andimplementation of modules and projects in physics learning.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' mathematics learning outcomes in the function composition material through the implementation of peer tutoring strategies in class XI MA Islamiyah Syafi'iyah. This study uses the Kurt Lewin Classroom Action Research (CAR) model which is implemented in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 29 students, and data were collected through observation of learning activities and learning outcome tests at the end of each cycle. Data analysis was carried out using the N-Gain calculation to determine the improvement in learning outcomes between cycles. The results showed a significant improvement in learning outcomes after the implementation of the peer tutoring strategy. The average N-Gain value in cycle I was 0.53 (52.84%) with a moderate category, increasing in cycle II to 0.79 (79.45%) with a high category. This increase indicates that the implementation of the peer tutoring strategy is effective in improving conceptual understanding, student activeness, and mathematics learning outcomes in the function composition material. Thus, the peer tutoring strategy can be used as an effective and interactive learning alternative to help students understand mathematics material more deeply.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesulitan siswa kelas IX E SMPN 1 Kotaanyar dalam menyelesaikan soal statistika, khususnya pada materi mean, median, dan modus data berkelompok. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan subjek sebanyak 25 siswa. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan berupa tes uraian statistika, pedoman wawancara, serta lembar validasi instrumen yang melibatkan validator dosen dan guru. Proses validasi dilakukan untuk memastikan kelayakan instrumen dari aspek isi, konstruksi, dan bahasa. Hasil validasi menunjukkan bahwa instrumen tes dan pedoman wawancara berada pada kriteria valid dan layak digunakan, baik dengan maupun tanpa revisi sesuai saran validator. Sebelum tes diberikan, siswa memperoleh penjelasan singkat mengenai materi statistika. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa meskipun nilai siswa relatif tinggi, masih ditemukan kesulitan yang dominan pada materi median. Kesulitan tersebut meliputi kesalahan dalam menentukan kelas median, menghitung frekuensi kumulatif, serta menentukan komponen rumus median. Berdasarkan hasil wawancara, kesulitan siswa disebabkan oleh kurangnya pemahaman konsep dasar statistika dan ketidaktelitian dalam perhitungan. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi bahan pertimbangan bagi guru dalam merancang strategi pembelajaran statistika yang lebih efektif.
