Abstract

Sanitation is an important health initiative that protects the cleanliness of the environment and its users. Basic sanitary facilities include clean water, wastewater treatment, drainage channels, and waste management. This research aims to provide an overview and information regarding the availability of basic sanitation facilities in a settlement. The research was conducted in Mataram District, West Nusa Tenggara. The research method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative method. The research focuses on identifying fundamental sanitation aspects, which include design and construction, waste management, wastewater management, and drainage systems. Direct observation, structured interviews, and in-depth interviews gathered data. According to the research findings, Mataram District's clean water supply comes from PDAM and drilled wells; waste management is not optimal because waste sorting and processing are not yet available, wastewater treatment is still done on-site in septic tanks in each house, and some wastewater comes from washing activities. While bathing drains into the gutter, the residents' yards have a gutter-based drainage system. The participation of all stakeholders, including the local administration and the local community, is necessary to optimize the sanitation system in Mataram District. The implementation of regulations and the provision of infrastructure are essential for the support of drainage and waste management systems. To preserve the cleanliness of wastewater channels, the community can take an active role in processing refuse, beginning at the household level and cleaning the gutters.

Abstract

Dasan Geria Village possesses unique biophysical and sociocultural potential that can be developed into an ecotourism area. Its biophysical attractions include natural landscapes such as several waterfalls, namely Ponjok Waterfall, Bangket Bawo Waterfall, Teburun Nanas Waterfall, and Temburun Bukal Waterfall. The local community’s activities, such as the production of palm sugar (gula semut) and traditional kris-making, also offer distinctive attractions for tourists. However, this initiative is still constrained by challenges related to the development and management of village-based ecotourism, as well as efforts to optimize its potential, benefits, and active community participation. This community service initiative aims to disseminate the concept of ecotourism for implementation in Dasan Geria Village. The application of the ecotourism concept can be initiated through awareness-raising activities, focus group discussions (FGDs), and workshops involving local residents, village authorities, and academics. The people of Dasan Geria hold a positive perception and express agreement with the adoption of the ecotourism concept, while also hoping to receive financial support for its implementation. In applying this concept, consistent and sustainable guidance and assistance for the community in managing and developing ecotourism are essential

Abstract

Hygiene and sanitation are inseparable components of environmental health. Gegutu Reban Hamlet, Dasan Geria Village, is one of the areas in West Lombok facing challenges in sanitation management due to the annual increase in population due to the clearing of agricultural and plantation land for new settlements. The main problem currently being faced is low public awareness and knowledge of environmental health, which results in low active participation in managing environmental sanitation. Furthermore, standard operating procedures for hygiene and sanitation in the village do not exist and have never been established. For this reason, community service activities were carried out with the aim of increasing awareness, knowledge and the level of active participation of the community in managing environmental health in Gegutu Reban Hamlet, Dasan Griya Village, West Lombok. The activities were carried out using lecture, focused groupe discussion, demonstration, practice and ongoing mentoring methods for the target audience, which included housewives, farmer representatives and youth representatives. The monitoring results showed that participants were very enthusiastic about participating in this activity. Participants' awareness and knowledge about maintaining environmental health increased. The accuracy of participants' skills in carrying out several practiced hygiene and sanitation actions also increased. This activity also produced a draft SOP for hygiene and sanitation management that can be implemented by local residents, especially in Gegutu Reban Hamlet, Dasan Griya Village, West Lombok.

Abstract

The availability of groundwater is an important factor in meeting the need for clean water for human populations and ecosystems. Groundwater utilization in the world continues to increase every year along with the increase in population. This study aims to identify groundwater potential using resistivity geoelectric method with Schlumberger configuration in Pujut District, Mertak village. This area is one of the areas that often experiences drought, especially during the dry season. The research was conducted by conducting field surveys using geoelectric devices and resistivity data analysis. This method utilizes the propagation properties of electric current flowed into the soil through two current electrodes, then the potential difference that occurs is measured through two potential electrodes plugged into the ground surface. Analysis of resistivity data yielded a picture of the potential distribution of groundwater in six sites.  The identified characteristics of subsoil are breccia, loam, limestone, alluvial, and sandstone. At locations 4,5 and 6 have aquifer layers with an average depth of 30 meters. This layer is dominated by a hard layer (sandstone) and a soft layer (limestone). This research provides a better understanding of the distribution and characteristics of aquifers in the Pujut area, especially Mertak village, so that the results of this research can be the basis for making decisions on groundwater resources management and further development in mapping groundwater resources in the region with other geological contexts.

Abstract

In ecotourism areas, tourist activities are always a source of waste generation. Tourist visits can have a positive impact on the community's economy, but they also have a negative impact, namely increased waste generation. The Lembar Selatan Mangrove Ecotourism Area is an ecotourism destination in West Lombok which attracts more and more visitors from year to year. The increase in the number of visitors causes an increase in waste generation in tourist areas. Some rubbish is still dumped in mangrove forests, so a lot of rubbish is found in mangrove forests which are ecotourism objects. Integrated waste management is needed, especially through empowering local communities to overcome the problem of waste generation in the area. For this reason, socialization of waste processing into eco-enzyme products for the community was carried out with the aim of increasing awareness and economic independence of the community in managing waste. This socialization was carried out using lecture methods, demonstrations, focus group discussions and practice with female food traders who are members of the UMKM group and members of POKDARWIS of The Lembar Selatan Village as the target audience. The results show that the participants were very enthusiastic about taking part in this activity, causing their awareness, knowledge and skills to increase, especially regarding integrated waste management and processing organic waste into eco-enzyme products. It is hoped that the results of this activity will further increase the village's economic independence in managing waste in the Ecotourism Area of Lembar Selatan.

Abstract

The study on the use of local natural materials as a source of insecticides is intended, among other things, to reduce farmers' dependency on using synthetic chemicals. This research was conducted to obtain the most selective insecticidal active ingredient from Sesbania sesban plant for controlling cabbage caterpillars, choose a target mode of action that has a safe impact on the environment, and determine insecticidal stability during storage of the material prior to application and its stability in water after application.  The dried powder of S. sesban leaves was extracted in stages using a series of solvents, namely hexane, DCM, ethanol and water, respectively.  Each of the extract fractions produced was tested for its lethal toxicity against Plutella xylostella larvae and Diadegma semiclausum imago. Each of mortality data were processed by probit analysis to produce LC50(s) to determine their insecticidal selectivity. Subsequent bioassays were carried out using extract-water of S. sesban leaves and the data were processed by probit analysis to determine their anti-ovipositor, ovicidal powers and anti-feedant properties against P. xylostella. The insecticidal stability of S. sesban was also studied according to variations in the storage time of the simplicia before extraction, the storage time of the extract before dissolution, and its stability in water during application. The data was processed using ANOVA. The results show that the insecticidal activity of the ethanol extract fraction of S. sesban leaves for controlling cabbage caterpillars was very selective, namely very toxic to P. xylostella but very less toxic to D. semiclausum. Against P. xylostella, S. sesban leaf extract has also been proven to significantly prevent oviposition, inhibit egg hatching and feeding activity. The insecticidal power of S. sesban did not decrease significantly during storage of the simplicia for less than three months and during storage of the extract for less than seven days. However, the toxicity of the extract solution decreased drastically after 24 hours of application
