Abstract

This study aimed to analyze Muslim entrepreneurs' work ethic who can directly contribute to the City's economic growth where they live, namely Tasikmalaya City of West Java of Indonesia. The City is a religious city, so its residents, including business people, base their lives on Islam. Numerous Islamic education institutions are enormous and continue to increase yearly; it is also characterized by regional regulations that impose Islamic law in the City. This study used a qualitative method with an anthropological approach. This approach was necessary because this work ethic was related to specific human activities. This study found that Muslim entrepreneurs' work ethic in Tasikmalaya city could be categorized as high by adhering to honesty, discipline, respect for time, working sincerely, adhering to procedures, and submitting reports on time. Besides, hard work was also an essential ethos for work success. However, hard work here also means worship. Based on the principle of monotheism, work is an investment and buying and selling with God, namely by always giving charity as savings for heaven. This study confirmed the linkage between religion and work ethic found by Max Weber and its correlation to the Muslim community in the religious city of Tasikmalaya. This study explores the work behavior of Muslim traders and their employees to encourage integrity, a sense of responsibility, quality, self-discipline, and teamwork in job releases that determine whether a strong work ethic or a weak work ethic contributes to the level of performance.

Abstract

Food and energy are a global concern today due to climate change. Some countries are concerned about maintaining the chain of availability of food and energy supplies for the community, especially with the depletion of food supplies and the need for renewable energy. This study aims to analyze the dependence on food and energy and the religious concept of preserving and maintaining the environmental ethics of the depletion of food supplies and fossil energy for Muslim countries. As a system, Islamic economics is expected to be an alternative solution in the sustainability of maintaining the food and energy supply chain ecosystem, starting from raw materials, processing, certification, distribution, and marketing. The method used is through literature review. The results obtained that Muslim countries can play a role in handling food and energy scarcity, including by breaking away from fossil energy dependence by implementing renewable energy, green and blue economy, increasing production capacity and expanding agricultural areas, and providing agricultural and energy technology transfer, diversifying water products, training, and education in the agricultural sector. Although there are regulations on environmental care, the fact that some countries still ignore environmental preservation and sustainability is evident from a large amount of deforestation, drought, flood disasters, deforestation, changes in forest functions, extinction of flora and fauna ecosystems, and global warming. This shows that the process of maintaining environmental ethics is still not optimal. Serious efforts are needed from various parts of the world towards climate change.

Abstract

The construction of a new road in Purbaratu District, Tasikmalaya, represents a significant case for studying infrastructure's impact on local economies. This study examines how the new road affects local mendong handicraft artisans and roadside vendors. Using a mixed-method approach, the research finds that while accessibility has improved, the benefits have not been evenly distributed. Artisans face marketing and raw material supply challenges, while vendors struggle with spatial regulation and legality. The study highlights the necessity of zoning policies, digital adaptation training, and the development of community-based entrepreneurship ecosystems through multi-stakeholder collaboration. These findings underscore the need for synergy between physical infrastructure and socio-economic capacity building to ensure inclusive and sustainable development outcomes.

Tourism is a vital industry that creates job opportunities and allows for economic development in the halal tourism sector. Tasikmalaya and Bandar Lampung are two regions in Indonesia that can be potentially developed for nature-mountain tourism, with Mount Ganoang and Puncak Mas as the natural assets. This research identifies the potential of Mount Ganoang and Puncak Mas as sustainable and community-based ecotourism by employing a descriptive method with qualitative analysis techniques and a legal anthropological approach. Primary data was collected through interviews, observations, and field measurements. The results show that based on the tourism suitability index, the physical conditions of Mount Ganoang and Puncak Mas carry the potential adequate for development through improved management and human resources as community-based halal ecotourism. Halal ecotourism, which presents nature as a destination, supports the economic circulation of the community with many people involved in economic activities from tourism despite basic differences in capital, ownership, and juridical aspects (Local Regulation concerning Values No.7 of 2014 and Lampung Provincial Regulation No. 2 of 2008 concerning the Preservation of Lampung Culture.
